If you haven’t jumped on the holistic health bandwagon, odds are you are right where you started with your symptoms or you have a prescription package with an extra helping of side effects. This is no way to live, and it certainly is no way to heal yourself. The reality is nowadays that the healthcare system is overworked and underfunded. Doctors do not have the time to do a full lifestyle check-up on you. Hell, they don’t even have time to determine the root cause of your symptoms. And that’s where holistic practitioners (such as myself), step in.

What are holistic health practitioners?

Holistic health practitioners are health coaches, ayurveda specialists, acupuncturists, herbalists, etc. These are people who do a full panel of lifestyle checks to determine the root cause of your health concerns, which is usually found in stress triggers or imbalances within your systems. The holistic approach focuses not only on your diet, but on your exercise regimen, daily activities, relationships, career, financial health, and of course your mental and emotional health. This approach is rooted in ancient methods of healing and gets to the heart of the belief that the body can heal itself once we eliminate any blockages or deficiencies.

Doctors have limited nutrition knowledge

Before I begin, I want to say that of course doctors are amazing at what they do, and they have helped many people. But I do want to point out that their expertise lies within the human body, testing, surgical techniques and of course medications. Doctors are only required to do 30 hours of nutrition training and even I, a humble health coach, know this is certainly not enough time to understand the depths of information available in the nutrition world.

The reality is: it all starts with food. Many clients I have worked with have seen drastic, rapid results just by switching up several things within their diets to accommodate their individual needs. These changes have occurred without the use of pills or medications, thus evoking the question of whether this should be the primary go-to for healing? (I think so)!!! Whole foods catered around your deficiencies and preferences hold mother nature’s medicine which holistic health practitioners can help refer you to.

The mysteries of the human body

Let’s break for a little story time. When I was about 10 years old, I started to experience strong pains in my abdomen which would last for several hours and would come on at random times (and no it wasn’t menstrual cramps as I only begun to get my period three years later). I went to a doctor and got an ultrasound, and they told me it was nothing. But my pain wasn’t nothing it was still there.

Fast forward 12 years later to when I turned 22 and was diagnosed with adenomyosis (the start of endometriosis: a dangerous uterine tissue growth which can have a huge impact on your whole body and lifestyle). It took conventional doctors 12 years to diagnose me. They mentioned I should switch up my diet and when I asked to what, they simply told me to do my research. They also prescribed me their routine birth control (which they use to treat practically any female hormonal condition nowadays), and this prompted several symptoms and side effects that I won’t bore you with.

I begun to change my lifestyle factors and found the root cause of my hormonal imbalance. I learned about nutrition and got certified as a holistic health coach and begun to go to an acupuncturist to heal my stomach inflammation and chronic constipation.

The moral of the story is had I sought out a holistic health practitioner those 12 years earlier, I would have been able to prevent my condition and implement a holistic plan that worked for me. Many patients nowadays are sent packing with pills, or like me, with a complete dismissal of any condition (but still with excruciating pain). This is indeed why I urge you to try the holistic route.

Getting to the root cause

I’ll say it again: Health is holistic, and so should be your approach. Your lifestyle should be factored in so the miracle healing capabilities of your body can kick in. There are many techniques originating from the Orient and India which involve energy healing modalities, and this can play a tremendous part in your healing journey. Not only that, but they also have techniques involving natural herbs and tonics filled with vitamins and minerals one might be deficient in, which do not include side effects.

Take it from me as a stubborn woman who healed herself by herself: seek help from the right sources. If you are looking for your own holistic health practitioner, a holistic health coach such as myself can be a great place to start, (feel free to contact me at any one of my social channels or email to book a free health consultation). Holistic health practitioners can kickstart your healing journey through the help of a catered nutrition and exercise plan, as well as healing stress triggers apparent in your life. They can direct you to other supporting health practitioners to further your journey and coach you along your healing practices as well.

Not only will you save money and time as a result, but you will truly begin to understand the power of the human body and how natural practices measure up against what we know as medicine today.
