Why You Don’t Need More Clients In Your Makeup Artist Business

The one struggle I get asked to help makeup artists most is ‘how do I get more clients’. But as an expert in the makeup artist business, I strongly feel this is only the symptom ‒ the REAL problem is they want to earn more income. The fact they make two fundamental mistakes, the first is they mistakenly think by getting more clients and desperately trying to fill the diary. All they achieve is getting on the hamster wheel and finding it hard to get off. Secondly, they offer the same services/products as their competitors in the market.

Chasing clients is stressful and frustrating, but there is a way out. By working with makeup artists showing them how they can use their expertise to grow their business. These makeup artists have worked hard to gain their qualifications, have been in business for more than 2 years and are taking action to share their expertise to help their clients on a much deeper level.

This is a process and initially, the first lesson is to unlearn everything you’ve done so far in your business, for instance:

  • Not selling discounts

  • Not selling packages

  • Not selling your time

Often this goes against the grain because this is what has been their strategy for years, in most cases. And to turn your mindset completely around and actually ‘unlearn’ these methods is probably the hardest obstacle to overcome. But once this mindset has changed there’s no going back to chasing clients and charging for your time/ services/products at £30-£50 pounds a session. When they discover they can charge far more for the solution they offer because they are working on a much deeper level with their clients and using their expertise. Then they allow themselves to free up their diaries because they can now afford to work with only a few clients per week.

There’s a free workshop 26 March at 10 am UK time, you can join to find out more about ‘Unleashing Your Expertise in your makeup artist business’ Free Workshop.
