Your ego is bad! Get rid of your ego! If you’re a spiritual person, you’ve likely heard people say things like this. But what if having a healthy ego is essential for your well-being? What if, to achieve complete mental and emotional healing, loving your ego is the way to go? In the following, I will make a case for why you should integrate your ego and cherish it instead of kicking it to the curb. This is also one of the topics my guides discuss in my new book, The Secrets of the Light of Life: How the Interplay of Polarities Operates in Our Adventurous Universe.
What is ego?
Carl Jung, the Swiss psychiatrist and founder of analytical psychology, regarded the ego as the center of our field of consciousness that holds our personal identity and starts forming in early childhood. The ego “perceives meaning and assesses value,” so it promotes survival and tells you why your life is worth living. In other words, without an ego, we might not be able to live our lives. Our egos are an essential part of how we survive and exist in our demanding physical world.
People talk about healthy egos and wounded egos and fragile egos. Egos are on display everywhere we look. Having an ego is essential to our survival, but why do spiritual people often seek to eliminate the ego altogether? We can’t all be wandering egoless gurus who have a cadre of followers making sure we eat enough to keep our bodies alive, gurus like Anandamayi Ma, whom Paramahansa Yogananda also wrote about in his book “Autobiography of a Yogi.” So, if we have to have an ego, but it seems to be in the way of our spiritual advancement, the solution would be to heal and integrate our egos.
How to heal our egos
Our lives get harder the more wounding our egos experience, especially during our formative years. Dr. Erika Chopich and Dr. Margaret Paul are the co-creators of Inner Bonding, a six-step process that helps you heal your ego wounded self, the part of ourselves that forms when we don’t receive the love we need. We decide that the reason we don’t get that love is because there’s something inherently wrong with us, which results in a lot of self-judgment, criticism, and internalized shame. We try to do everything right so other people would like us and not reject us or get angry with us.
The Inner Bonding process walks people through accepting and loving their core Self and helps them recognize that “others’ behavior was not the result of me not being good enough.” The process helps people reprogram their left-brain survival part that has a lot of false beliefs and replace those beliefs with positive statements through loving themselves. In this way, people learn to control their lives with positive statements instead of negative statements and self-judgment.
Spiritual teacher Matt Kahn’s book “Whatever Arises, Love That: A Love Revolution That Begins with You” seems to offer a simpler, nonclinical approach to achieving the same results. The basic premise of this teaching is that whatever emotions arise in us, we can heal ourselves by accepting and loving those emotions. Kahn says that by loving whatever arises, we can unravel the patterns of ego with compassion.
The tourmalines’ take on the ego
My guides, the Tourmalines, have given me further insights into the functioning of the ego and the ways in which we can integrate our egos so they can help us instead of hinder us in our quest for achieving more fulfilling lives and higher levels of spiritual enlightenment. My new book, The Secrets of the Light of Life: How the Interplay of Polarities Operates in Our Adventurous Universe, is a compilation of their teachings about the light and the darkness on our planet and about our journey to the fifth dimension. The following are excerpts from the book.
“Your ego does try to keep ahold of everything, to control things, but you see, it is a futile endeavor. Nothing can be controlled anymore. Keep breathing in light, keep breathing out peace, focus on the light and heal yourself through awareness and love of whatever arises.
“Focus on the light, and when sadness arises, as the teacher Matt Kahn has said, when sadness arises, you love your sadness. Even when joy arises, you love your joy. Whatever arises, love that. That is a big teaching. That is an enormous teaching. If every person on Earth could adopt that teaching into their daily life, what would this planet become but a fifth-dimensional reality instantly, but we know the darkness on the planet is still holding back that jump. The darkness has to play out! The players are playing themselves out even now in the form of the wars, the war in Gaza, in Israel, the war in Ukraine.
“You have to heal your ego; it is your inner child. That inner child has been pummeled and hurt. The way the inner child thinks that it can prevent being hurt again is to try to control every aspect of the life that it possibly can. It is trying to control your life so you won’t get hurt again. This is why you have to love that ego.
“You have to make it a habit to love that ego because loving your ego will heal you on many levels, on levels you may not even be aware of, the many layers in the onion or the layers of your feelings, of your brain. Your heart-mind connection is like the outer layer of the onion and there is the heart of the onion, and somehow you have to establish a direct link from the outer layer to the very inner.”
Where we are going
The Tourmalines have told me that everyone who goes into the fifth dimension will have an integrated ego. The ones who refuse to integrate their egos, to heal their egos, and choose instead to hold onto that ego in its wounded, negative form, will not be entering the fifth dimension of perfection.
Please do not be alarmed by these statements. The process of healing and integrating our egos is straightforward. My guides have told me time and again not to stress about anything, not to worry, that everything will be taken care of. You can use the Inner Bonding process or Matt Kahn’s approach of simply loving whatever arises to heal and integrate your ego. What does not help in this process, though, is viewing the ego as the enemy. Our egos can be wonderful servants for us, as my guides have said, but they tend to take our thoughts either to the past or to the future. We can love our egos and gently bring ourselves back to the present moment.
A Quantum Healing Hypnosis session may also give you more personal insights into what you can do to heal yourself and your ego on every level. If you are within driving distance of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, you can contact me to book a session, or you can find a practitioner in your area. I will close with another excerpt from my new book.
“Watch your actions, watch your intentions, your words and your emotions. Watch them and seek the light! This can lead to very speedy balancing of karma. As time accelerates, so does the opportunity to balance karma. Whoever still has karma left, you can seek the light in everything you do and think and feel, and every cell of your body will have to be turned toward the light. And you will help others and you will understand that your life is not the little life but it is the bigger life, it is the big life of the Maker.
“When you are in service to the Maker, it becomes the big life, the big, important life where your ego will be your servant of integrated wonderfulness. That was an unexpected turn of wording. The wonderfulness of your integrated ego will be scintillating in your spirit and in your soul. That ego can be loved and you need an ego in order to live here on Earth.
“Your spirit soars; your spirit seeks the light. Your spirit makes sure that you know what the light is and where it can be found, where others of light are located, where others of light can be found. The connections people make in the next four years will be important, indeed. The next four years will show us who will come and who will go.”
