In a recent interview with Chloe Redmond, CEO of Vino Vaquera Consulting, Stefanie Hayes delved deeper into the importance of prioritizing one's health in the current era.


Hello Stefanie! I am honored to share your story and mission with the publication and its audience! When you are ready, please guide us through the foundational pieces that paved the way for this entrepreneurial adventure! How did Vallation Health come to be?


I've had too many patients in the ICU who wouldn't have been there if a healthcare professional were paying attention sooner. No one expects critical illness or injury to be part of their health journey but there is so much prevention potential. When I couldn't find any other program for a health partnership that is attentive across all providers and facilities, I knew pioneering this service was my assignment. It isn't just a business, this is my passion, expertise and dedication.


We understand that there are inevitable pitfalls in the current healthcare system. Can you describe how your services help to both pinpoint and navigate around these potential roadblocks?


The primary pitfall is that the healthcare system is not one system. It's fragmented into different doctor's offices, hospitals, labs, wellness services, etc and people without medical experience are expected to be the point person in their healthcare to navigate it all. It's like a game of telephone that's not funny at the end.


You wouldn't be expected to navigate the legal system— an attorney will educate you, make reliable recommendations, and oversee every detail. Your health deserves at least as much dedicated attention and dependable guidance.


With Vallation Health Partnership I oversee every detail of your healthcare from preventative wellness through whatever health needs may arise. Nothing falls through the cracks. I assist medical communications, scrutinize all health data and ensure complete follow-through from providers. True to the nursing process, we start with assessment. We will discuss your health goals and priorities along with concerns and any challenges you may be facing. I outline a plan of care to build a strong framework to fortify wellness and put protections in place for long-term healthcare safety. We establish or review advance directives that protect your wishes in the event you are unable to speak for yourself. I have worked with the full range of options laid out in an advance directive— from full life support to comfort care and end-of-life. There is huge value in guidance from someone who has actually worked with it all and has seen ways that directives have supported patients and many ways that they did not work as intended.


I get to know your goals and needs and scrutinize all available health history information (which I'm happy to assist in attaining). The plan of care then outlines follow-up needs and upcoming priorities. I assist clients is preparing for medical appointments and ensure complete follow through for testing, imaging and referral needs. I can assist medical communications over the phone or in-person with joint scheduling.


I check in regularly to support you with exceptionally tailored service. Nursing advice is quickly available from your known and trusted resource for whatever questions or concerns arise. Yes, I maintain a very small client list because that's the only way to provide the dedicated attention that I know provides such meaningful value. This service is not scaled and it's not automated. I'm a highly experienced RN devoted to my client's long-term wellness.


A potential client is someone who wants to make a commitment to their health by investing in a highly attentive and tailored health partnership. Maybe they have felt unheard or misunderstood in healthcare. Maybe they have seen risks of the healthcare system with their parents or other loved ones and want a solution to those vulnerabilities. They may have a great concierge physician and want that same level of quality and attention when seeing specialists or during hospitalization. Vallation Health Partnership extends concierge service beyond primary care and mends the cracks in the fragmented system.

Thank you so much for sharing Stefanie! Without providing the client’s details, can you share an example of how your services have greatly impacted a client in need of guidance related to an emergency health experience?


A gentleman I had been working with had an episode of dizziness where he felt he almost fainted and barely made it to a seat at his dining table. His daughter was close by so she was arriving as I was called. After checking his blood pressure and blood sugar, I advised them to go to the emergency room. While I was on speakerphone listening to the doctor's exam, my client answered that he felt much better and has had dizziness in the past. Reassured by this and his vital signs the doctor determined that it was not an acute event and he could go home and follow up with his primary doctor.


I interrupted and clarified that his prior dizziness was when he had low blood sugar but it was 170 right after this event so definitely not the same cause. After further describing the event, I requested an ultrasound of his carotid arteries (blood vessels on both sides of the neck that bring blood to the brain). This imaging showed almost complete blockage of these arteries on both sides. He felt better because he was completely at rest but he was actually at extremely high risk of a massive stroke. He was admitted to the hospital and underwent a procedure to put stents in these blood vessels on both sides. The neurologist remarked that they were even more blocked than was seen on the ultrasound and the procedure was likely life-saving.


He was able to speak for himself, his daughter was there to assist, but this would have been missed without someone attentive and available who knows both the clients detailed history and the medical background to know which history details are relevant to the current condition.


This work is truly incredible Stephanie! Switching gears for a moment, let’s take a moment to set an intention together. What do you hope to be the key takeaway for your 2023-2024 clients?


My intention is for clients to experience the difference of consistent guidance and support across all areas of health. It's safety and comfort. Key takeaway: this is totally new, completely different from fragmented services, and a no-brainer for those wanting to invest in a quality of life that is supported by health, not limited by it.

The overall goal is to establish a new standard for how an individual interacts with healthcare. I see this new standard being both a protection and peace of mind for patients as well as a needed remedy for clinicians who are stretched too thin and discontent with the way they can currently provide care. A consistent liaison who deeply knows both the individual and healthcare, serves both the patient and provider in a whole new way.


After working in healthcare for 15 years, having great respect for those who choose a medical career to serve, and seeing so many avoidable patient risks, I am excited to have innovated this solution.
