Nicki Jennison, Advanced Rehab Trainer & Health Coach
Introduce yourself. Please tell us about you and your life, so we can get to know you better.
Hi, I’m Nicki, the face behind Fitness Faster an advanced rehab and hormonal health coach business. My fascination with the human body started at the age of 14 when I developed Scoliosis (a curvature of the spine). The physiotherapist prescribed me with a gym program to improve my posture and this is where it all started. Exercise not only alleviated my pain but set me on a lifelong journey of understanding the human body's intricacies. I became a total gym junkie, and in 1998 whilst studying Fashion at University, I decided to qualify and work as a group fitness instructor on the side.
Post-University, I embarked on a solo year-long adventure through Asia, New Zealand, Australia, America and Canada. It was the best experience to have had as a 20-year-old and really shaped my confidence and zest for travel. It’s also when I fell in love with Australia.
I lived in New Zealand for 5 years, working as a massage therapist for a spa & physio practice in Queenstown and later becoming the Fitness Manager of a chain of gyms in the South Island of NZ. I was based in Nelson (my favourite spot in New Zealand) and travelled around the South Island mentoring, upskilling, and qualifying personal trainers.
I moved to beautiful Adelaide in 2010, where I established my personal training private studio. I live close to the beach, where I love walking my dog Boycey and surfing. I’m surrounded by the hills and wine regions, where there is such great food and wine. I’m a foodie! I love my food, so I can fully relate to people who still want to eat well whilst losing weight.
When and why did you start Fitness Faster?
So Fitness Faster has evolved over the years. My first Personal Training Job in 2000 was working alongside Physiotherapists in the UK. I was lucky that at such an early stage in my career, I was exposed to a unique approach to fitness – integrating prehab and rehab training, safe exercise protocols, and a holistic perspective on health. I believe the more you know, the more you realise you don’t know, and this has led me to explore diverse courses, from Pilates, Yoga, and NLP Life Coaching to Strength training, Olympic lifting, and Hormonal profiling.
It was during my early experiences with clients, that I noticed that good nutrition and exercise didn’t always work. This is when I developed a keen interest in hormones and their influence on weight management, energy levels and overall well-being. I studied under Olympic Coach Charles Poliquin and Paul Chek and learnt how our body’s hormonal profile provides crucial insights into how factors like sleep, stress, toxins, insulin resistance and hormonal shifts can significantly impact our health. This was the missing link that I needed to help my clients achieve their goals.
Why Fitness Faster?
I named my Personal Training Business, Fitness Faster because as we hit midlife, priorities change. While weight loss remains a priority for some, it’s equally about feeling energised, maintaining self-esteem, and integrating a time-efficient exercise routine into busy lives. The emphasis is on working smarter, not longer, to achieve results – hence the name Fitness Faster.
Also the last 5 years I’ve been fortunate to have the unique opportunity of working weekly at a remote mine site in South Australia, enhancing the health and wellbeing of individuals in a corporate setting. In this role, I’ve:
Assisted clients in creating realistic and sustainable exercise programs tailored to their demanding schedules.
Conducted rehabilitation for injuries, addressed work-related postural issues and implemented preventive measures through strengthening and stretching programs.
Facilitated workshops covering lifting techniques, addressing common injuries, and promoting injury prevention.
Provided support for the mental well-being of staff, with popular classes like Yoga and myofascial release, emphasising the importance of breathing, meditation, and mindset for overall health.
What kind of audience do you target your business towards?
My client base spans individuals aged 35-75, tailoring programs to distinct needs, I offer:
Menopause weight loss programs – Aiding Women to navigate peri-menopause or post-menopause, tackling weight gain, sleep issues, aches/pains and how to lose stomach fat in menopause.
Rehab Fitness Programs – Designed for clients with injuries, addressing overuse, accidents, or weaknesses, and aiding post-surgery recovery.
Over 40’s Men’s Programs – Catering to men dealing with midlife changes, providing efficient online fitness programs for busy schedules.
Tell us a little bit about your menopause fitness program.
Women moving through menopause is a deeply personal experience, each with its own set of unique challenges. What works for one may not be the fix for another. That’s why my menopause fitness program is about tailoring solutions to each individual’s experiences. No two programs are the same.
I’m here to dig deep into your story. Have you gained menopause tummy fat? Do relentless night sweats leave you reaching for sugar and caffeine all day? Are urinary issues now a problem? Perhaps you’re dealing with aching bodies or the common brain fog that comes with this phase of life.
Exercises that help with menopause
Choosing the right exercise during menopause is crucial. Our bodies are hormonally shifting, and what kept us fit in our 20s is unlikely to give us the same results now. It’s about finding that sweet spot, the balance between movement and rest, tailored to each stage of menopause.
While each program is unique, they all incorporate movements suited to your lifestyle and a healthy sustainable nutrition plan – no starvation diets here! Did I mention I was a foodie?!! It’s about how to stop menopause weight gain. We dive into easy lifestyle changes, addressing stress impacts on hormones, reducing toxic load, coping with reduced oestrogen and progesterone and preventing osteoporosis. It’s a full-body approach to reignite your vitality, instil hope, and empower you to not just endure but thrive through this stage of life.
Could you provide an overview of the services and products offered by your business, and how they benefit your customers?
I offer in-person One-on-one Personal Training in South Brighton, Adelaide, and Online Fitness Programs via my fitness app, providing monthly or weekly support.
How this benefits clients is best reflected in their words. I’ll share with you some of their successes:
Samantha Hutton one of my Online Menopause Fitness Program clients wrote:
“I’ve always been relatively savvy with fitness and food, but with the challenges of peri-menopause and life; I needed help. Nicki is amazing.
She has redefined my relationship with food, helped me to understand the hormonal changes more intricately and worked me through my paces with an at-home workout program that kicks my ass and makes me feel strong again.
Nicki is knowledgeable and hardworking and redefines how women (especially in my age group) understand and work with their bodies. Highly recommend it and can’t wait to see what she has in store for the New Year.”
Stuart Thorpe trained with his wife, and this is what he had to say:
“I can easily say training with Nicki has made me much healthier and happier and given me back some free time.
Around four years ago I realised how unfit and fat I had become when the doctor told me I had high blood pressure and was overweight. I guess it was obvious to others, but I had continued to fool myself and with the pressures of life I just didn’t notice. I weighed over 100kg.
My wife and I decided to train with Nicki, which showed me I can work out less. Two to three short sessions a week of high intensity training, and careful management of diet was far more effective than the hours of work I was doing on my own previously.”
And Ted Treloar who is one of my Rehab Fitness Program clients:
“I first met Nicki with a Frozen Shoulder, after 2 steroid injections and very limited movement in my left arm.
Over the past 5 months, she has helped every week with mobilisation exercises and stretches. My movement has increased significantly to the point that putting on my T-shirt and sleeping at night is now trouble free. My surgeon commented after my 3-month catch-up that he was surprised at how quickly my movement had improved.
I also appreciate the effort to tailor my training, catering for the lack of movement in my arm, which still allows me to enjoy my workouts.
If you need help with any movement recovery and rehab training I can highly recommend Nicki’s thoughtful and educated approach.”

How do you differentiate your programs from other health or wellness programs in the market?
In a sea of generic fitness programs, Fitness Faster stands out with its emphasis on personalised programs, genuine support, and direct communication. I'm not a faceless app; I'm here, actively listening to my clients' concerns and committed to helping them reach their goals.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years from now?
I want to mentor other trainers to impact health and wellness in remote mine sites. It’s an area where I believe I can significantly contribute to the mental and physical well-being of those who work away from home.
Other than that, I’m really content with the relationships I’ve built with my clients and the assistance I provide. I imagine I will add a few more qualifications to my belt – I just can’t get enough of learning!
I consider myself fortunate to genuinely love my work and my wonderful clients; it means that no day feels like a work day.
Personally, I’d like to cultivate a better meditation practice (despite constant efforts, and a ten-day silent meditation retreat, my mind remains full of chatter). I’d also like to become a better surfer and ceramic potter. And I’m desperate to get back out and explore the world some more.
