Love is the absence of separation. It is whole, free, boundless, limitless and unconditional. Love cannot be understood, grasped, or comprehended. Neither can it be found, revealed, or obtained by someone.
Separation
Out of boundless energy appears an individual, a person who feels real and at a distance from everyone and everything, this is sometimes called the separate self. When there is a sense of being a person, there is awareness of whatever is appearing to happen, awareness of thoughts, perceptions, sensations, and so on. It is a separate experience and a separate reality. It is consciousness that affirms and solidifies this sense of individuality and keeps everything at a distance from ‘me.’
For the individual, the sense of being separate tends to be felt as dissatisfying and tiring. What also seems to happen for the individual is seeking and longing.
Seeking
As every individual goes about life, what seems to happen is looking for pleasure, relief, connection, and contentment. The individual tries various things such as induced states of relaxation, acquiring substances that provide some physical and mental relief, engaging in relationships that provide comfort, obtaining possessions that excite, stimulate, and gratify, and so on.
For some individuals, the search for material happiness may seem to fall through and be intuited as flawed, and so what can happen is an apparently internal search that may involve becoming a more well-rounded integrated individual, an individual that can accept the circumstances of life with more equanimity, or perhaps the individual can become more aware of the circumstances to be less affected by the content of experience. Whether it’s religion, spirituality, shamanism, therapy, or something else, all lists, rites, rituals, and practices may provide some relief and comfort for a while, but they never deliver what the individual is really longing for.
Longing
Each individual longs for home. A home that is not separate from anything or anyone, an unconditional freedom that knows no limitations, in other words, unconditional love.
By now, the individual is exposed to a separation experience that appears in human physiology as a localized contracted energy. Being and feeling separate it longs for non-separation. But non-separation is the end of this energy of feeling real, local, and personal, it is indeed the end of ‘me’.
What is exposed and illuminated in these words is that the one looking for wholeness and unconditional love is actually an illusion. There is no real separate self-housed located within the human body. Unconditional love is all there is. It is everywhere, it is everything, love being the total absence of separation is a radical embrace so profoundly all-encompassing it includes the totality of everything that appears to be. It is even the appearance of separation. This is not a personal love or conditional love, this is impersonal and yet totally stunningly intimate and immediate. It is also natural, instant, and innocent.
Unconditional love knows no boundaries
What simply cannot be comprehended or made sense of, is that everything is unconditional love. Because unconditional love cannot be conditioned or limited, it cannot be confined to some individuals and not others, it cannot exist here but not there, and it can’t be said to be the behavior of this person but not that person. Being unconditional it cannot be defined in any way at all.
Only when this separate energy in the human body energetically collapses and dies is it revealed that unconditional love is all there is, because it was only the illusory experience of the person that seemed to keep it veiled or hidden, as the separate self is institutionalized by being separate it can never know what unconditional love is, unconditional love is simply unknowable and yet it is all there is. It is boundless and free. It is everywhere, everything, everyone, all at once, eternal and infinite, timeless and limitless, which means that it’s also the one apparently looking for it.
An all-encompassing, all-inclusive radical embrace. What is longed for is what is already, unconditional love is all there is.
