No one ever said that life would be easy. In fact, it's often quite the opposite. There will be times when you feel like giving up, but it's important to remember that quitting is never an option. If you want to achieve success, you need to learn how to build resiliency and never give up. Here are some tips to help you never throw in the towel, and thrive during tough times.
1. Fall In Love With The Journey
We are perpetually on the move, bouncing from location to location and state of mind to state of mind. In life, we are continuously confronted with fresh possibilities, compelling us to rethink our intentions and modify our path of action. It can become severe and begin to impact our lives negatively. Take a moment to reflect on what you've accomplished thus far.
Each time we travel, we take photos and jot down everything we see and eat; we also write letters to our loved ones, informing them of our travels and meeting new people. We're keeping tabs on the important aspects of our lives and documenting them. We are unaware of how fortunate we are to have it at home and in our everyday life; our days are continuously glossed over and blurred together to the point that we don't know what to observe.
There is no end to the ways in which our environment can inspire us. When all inspiration has evaporated, it's time to look within. The only way to gain a clear picture of your destination is to travel back in time and see how things transpired in the past. It is critical to remember that in order to enjoy an experience, you must be present in the moment.
This is something that some people are more conscious of, while others allow their lives to pass them by without acknowledging their good fortune. Because Marcus Aurelius is correct when he states, "The quality of our life is dependent upon the quality of our thoughts," and this is a significant statement. If you ignore the great aspects of life, you will only notice the negative.
“I learned to love the journey, not the destination. I learned that this is not a dress rehearsal and that today is the only guarantee you get.” – Anna Quindlen
2. Learn To Reframe Your “Failure” To A Lesson Learned
Each setback teaches us something. Whatever the outcome, there is always a lesson to be learned from the anguish. Whether it's expressing thanks, recognizing a fatal error, or accepting that something is not a road to success, everything that happens in life may teach us something. It is only a failure if that is how you perceive it. To everyone else who succeeds, this is simply a hard-won lesson. The trick is to go beyond the disappointment and look for meaning in the chaos.
Many fail to do so, lamenting their defeat and resigning before achieving success. The lovely thing about failure is that it brings you closer to victory. The only distinction between a winner and a loser is that the winner rose another time. Therefore, even if you believe you have failed too frequently, persist since success is closer than you know.
Even the most accomplished individuals, it appears, have made errors along the way. At some time in their lives, the majority of people will face failure. It is critical to learn from your errors and develop from them in order to overcome obstacles and achieve success. Consider the circumstances around your failure. Were you directly or indirectly responsible? Is it conceivable that an external force was at work?
Never be scared to accept responsibility for your role in a situation's failure. Often, failure may have been averted by taking an alternative course of action. Consider your alternatives carefully, and do not be afraid to dive deeply into your own mind. Remember to take away valuable lessons from the experience, implement required changes to avoid it from occurring again, and go forward with newfound confidence, knowing more than you did yesterday.
“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” – Thomas Edison
3. Believe In Yourself, Even When No One Supports You
Without a good attitude, you are condemned to failure. This is the cold, harsh reality. Without the belief in oneself that comes from a strong foundation of self-confidence, any aptitude you possess or any number of opportunities that present yourself would be wasted.
However, people with a good attitude and a determination to persevere can and will see a concept through to completion and accomplishment. Even the most average of persons may finish the marathon with a strong resolve to succeed. A gifted individual who harbors self-limiting attitudes is condemned to failure.
The general population will have reservations about you, mock you, and humiliate you in various ways. While others may object to your behavior, it is possible that they are more concerned with themselves than with you. Certain individuals have a tendency to criticize things they are unfamiliar with for a variety of reasons, including ignorance or even envy. Others' lack of comprehension can be depressing, especially if they express their criticism negatively.
The critical point to remember is that you are completely in control of how you react to these events. Despite the difficulty, you must conquer negativity in order to channel it into your own achievement. At some time, everyone who has ever attained greatness has been questioned.
“Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle.” – Christian Larson
4. Get Comfortable With Being Uncomfortable
Comfort is one of the most potent drugs ever discovered by mankind. It provides us with just enough pleasure to keep us from being sad, but it prevents us from thriving as a result. Due to the fact that it is "acceptable" but not remarkable, it bonds us to our current condition of affairs. It gives us with an erroneous sense of security and joy, which prevents us from reaching our full potential and accomplishing our dreams.
It is the opponent of success. When everything in your life is stable but not very intriguing, you are said to be comfortable. However, while you have enough money to pay your bills and occasionally go out with your pals, none of these activities excite you in the slightest. In fact, it is precisely for this reason that it is so detrimental; nonetheless, discomfort is required for growth.
Many of the world's finest speakers were first terrified of being in front of an audience, but they gradually became accustomed to the pain and eventually accepted it as normal. Consider the first time in your life that you did anything major and how you felt about yourself. Although it's possible that you felt uncomfortable while executing it, this suggests that you have room for improvement and development in that area.
Suppose we want to be good at managing change. In that case, we must first understand that uncertainty is a part of today's reality and then cultivate the confidence and personal strength necessary to navigate our way through this ambiguity. In order to feel powerful, you must believe that you have the potential to affect your own outcomes. This belief equips you with the confidence and courage to create change and your own results. The more confident and empowered we are in our abilities to take charge of our lives, the more likely it is that we will make positive changes.
“Times of stress are also times that signal our growth, and if we use adversity properly, we can grow through adversity.” – Dr. Abraham Twerski
CONCLUSION
At the end of the day, it all boils down to one thing. You need a good attitude if you want to succeed in life. That is not just some cliche saying that your mom told you when she saw how sad and disappointed you looked after getting rejected by someone for whom you had feelings for; this is a cold hard reality my friend! Without self-confidence at its core, any aptitude or opportunity will be wasted because, without a solid foundation of faith in oneself, anything can happen, and everything could go wrong. Life always throws us curveballs, so we have no idea what’s going to happen next, but whatever does, there are lessons learned from every victory and defeat. So what are some ways that have helped you keep your head up?
