Are you dreading the approach of Valentine’s Day? Do you find yourself retreating indoors, hoping to avoid the avalanche of heart-shaped boxes and bouquets that flood the shelves? If you've ever spent the day crying into a tub of ice cream, fear not, because I'm here to share three ways to find happiness while single on Valentine’s Day.

Make every day Valentine’s

Wait, does this mean turning every day into a bittersweet mix of chocolate indulgence and longing for love? Not quite. Instead, let's focus on the essence of Valentine's Day – love – and infuse it into every aspect of our lives. Stripping away the commercial trappings, we find love at the core. So, why not celebrate that every day?

If you're in a relationship, don't confine expressions of love to just one day a year. Make it a year-round practice. And if you're single, don't let the pressures of this lover's holiday weigh you down. According to study by Dating.com, 61% of people happily chose to be single on Valentine’s Day in 2023! To join the ranks of these content individuals, start integrating one or two of the suggestions below into your life and watch the loving energy flourish around you.

The activities I propose for making your Valentine's Day the best one yet aren't exclusive to those flying solo. They can be enjoyed by individuals of any relationship status and serve as a delightful way to spread love. Consider them as stepping stones toward making every day feel like Valentine's Day.

My best Valentine’s yet!

For those who do find themselves single this Valentine's Day why not turn it into an opportunity for fun, self-love, growth, and deserved indulgence? Instead of wallowing in that bucket of ice cream, consider these three activities as a more love-filled alternative.

1. Embrace personal growth and follow your bliss

As some single people dread the approach of Valentine's Day, signs of new life and the imminent arrival of spring may appear especially here in the UK, where blooming crocuses and budding trees signal renewal. It's a time ripe for personal growth and exploration.

Just as nature undergoes transformation now, you too can embark on a journey of self-discovery. This Valentine's Day, consider enrolling in a course that piques your interest or challenges your skills. Lay the groundwork for infusing love into your days by indulging in activities you love more often or on a regular basis.

Whether it's mastering a new language, honing a culinary technique, or exploring a creative pursuit like painting, photography, or dancing, investing in your personal development can be immensely rewarding. Embracing new experiences and skills not only enhances your sense of fulfilment but also fosters a deeper connection with yourself.

By choosing to prioritize activities you love, you not only invite more bliss into your existence but also affirm your worthiness.

2. Indulge in luscious, luxury love moments

Treat yourself to moments of pure indulgence and self-care that evoke feelings of luxury and contentment. I introduced Luscious, Luxury Love Moments, or LLLMs, during my 31-Day Full-On Love Challenge, outlined in my book, "Living in Love: How to Create a Lifestyle of Love, Faith, Bliss, and Crazy-Ass Manifesting (All in Thirty-One Days)."

During the challenge, I committed to ten acts of love per day for thirty-one days, with LLLMs being one of them. Initially, I found it challenging to lavish such luscious love upon myself, but soon realized the importance of treating ourselves with decadence from time to time.

LLLMs are about putting yourself first and doing something purely to make yourself feel good. They're designed to raise your vibration and encourage self-love. They are those things you do that make you go, “Mmmmm, I love this.”

Create your sanctuary by indulging in a lavish bath experience. Set the mood with soothing music, light aromatic candles, and pour yourself a steaming cup of your favourite tea. Allow yourself to luxuriate in the warmth of the water, feeling tension melt away with each passing minute. These moments serve as a reminder of your inherent worth and the importance of prioritizing your well-being. Whether it's a spa day, a decadent dessert, or simply curling up with a good book, embrace the opportunity to lavish yourself with love and attention every day. Make time for at least one LLLM per day!

3. Nourish your mind, body, and soul with holistic wellness

This Valentine's Day, make holistic health your priority by nurturing your mind, body, and soul. Engage in activities that promote overall well-being and cultivate balance and harmony within yourself.

Start by practicing mindfulness and meditation to foster inner peace and clarity. Explore the therapeutic benefits of yoga or tai chi, embracing the fluidity of movement and the power of breath. Connect with nature by taking leisurely strolls in the park or immersing yourself in the beauty of the outdoors. Be present in the moment, relishing the sights, sounds, and sensations that surround you.

Feel the love that emanates from treating yourself with kindness. Additionally, nourish your body with wholesome, nourishing foods that fuel your vitality. Prepare delicious, nutrient-rich meals using fresh, seasonal ingredients, savouring each bite mindfully.

Prioritize adequate rest and sleep to honour your body's need for rejuvenation and renewal. Remember, self-care isn't selfish; it's an essential component of leading a balanced, fulfilling life—one that's brimming with love.

Celebrate self-love this Valentine's Day!

Don't let Valentine's Day bring you down! It's not just about romantic love—it's also about the love we give ourselves. If you're single, embrace the joy of solitude and use this time to deepen your connection with yourself.

Through personal growth, indulgent self-care, and holistic wellness practices, you can create a Valentine's Day experience that nurtures your soul and heart.

This February 14th, celebrate the most important relationship of all—the one you have with yourself. Happy Valentine's Day!
