“My Facebook has been shut down and I don’t know why!” If you’re using social media to build an audience and generate leads, receiving a notification that your Facebook group has been shut down, would be a complete devastation.
Unfortunately, that is the phone call that I received from one of my Facebook friends. She had been putting all of her effort, time & energy into building a quality Facebook group and just when it had reached 6,000 members (all from organic growth), her group was shut down.
There was no warning and nothing she could do about it.
My friend came to me when she saw my marketing about a live Pinterest course that I was launching and she asked, “Do you think this is appropriate for me and my business?”.
Honestly, I wanted to jump for joy because I can teach any business how to use Pinterest effectively. My immediate and direct response was, “Yes! You won’t be disappointed!”.
Pinterest is a long-term strategy and when pinning you shouldn’t expect instant results. It takes most pins about 90-days to fully get into the Pinterest algorithm.
What does that mean for your pins?
Don’t have a high expectation of leads and sales before that 90-day window, however, your pins can generate leads and sales for years to come! I’ll explain how and why but first, let me tell you what happened with my client.
She and I started taking action on her Pinterest account and within 5 weeks (Not 90-days) my client had grown her monthly views to over 19,000 and she celebrated her very first $1,000 day in her business! 77% of that $1,000 was directly from Pinterest and 100% of her sales were from new customers. She ended up closing out that week with over $2,000 in sales, and again, 100% of them were brand new customers.
How? Was it luck?
Absolutely not. Here is the very simple framework on how you can be successful on this platform!
I. Get clarity on your niche.
This is really important because your first step even before you pin is to do your keyword research. Pinterest does not run on hashtags, like other platforms.
II. Saturate your bio with the keywords that you want your brand to be known for.
Pinterest is a visual search engine that needs clear, captivating images and lots of specific keywords. Currently there are about 63,000 Google searches every second. Google loves Pinterest and Pinterest loves Google, so when your keywords are relatable and searchable, you have the potential to populate as a resource for someone’s Google search. This step goes back to having clarity on your niche.
III. Create your boards.
Now you’re ready to create your boards based on proper keywords. Board creation does not have to be done all at once. Boards can grow and evolve as your business does and you can add new boards at anytime. Be sure to name your boards based on your keyword research, this will increase your visibility.
IV. Add descriptions to each board
You have the ability to edit your board (and you should) so that you can enter a healthy description about that specific board. In your description it’s best to treat it like a mini blog post and use as many relevant keywords as possible.
V. Pin consistently
Everything we do is about consistency and pinning is no different. Pinning consistently does not mean having to create content constantly. It’s perfectly wise to repurpose your content and you can create multiple pins that redirect to the same longer-form content or website, etc.
I hope that I have shown you the value and potential that Pinterest has to offer. I’m here to help and answer any questions that you have! Look forward to connecting!
