Who they are, what they do, and why becoming a Cancer Coach is the job of the future.

In a world where illness becomes an increasingly prevalent reality, professional figures capable of making a difference in the lives of those facing this challenge are emerging. Among these, the role of the Cancer Coach has gained enormous recognition in recent years for the significant support provided to patients and caregivers. Thanks to a practical approach that combines expertise and human warmth, the Cancer Coach becomes a beacon of hope and a reliable guide in the journey of treatment and life.
Who is the cancer coach
The Cancer Coach is much more than a consultant; they are an ally, a mentor, an authoritative friend. They stand by those facing cancer, providing support, understanding, and personalized strategies to navigate this difficult journey. But their mission goes further: they are a catalyst for hope and change, guiding not only patients but also their loved ones and health professionals through the emotional and psychological complexities of the illness.
They are someone who has faced illness in their own turn, or is very sensitive to the issue, being indirectly involved, and has transformed their suffering into growth and into a contribution and service to others.
A Cancer Coach is a professional specialized in the psychological and emotional support of people suffering from a chronic disease, such as cancer, and their caregivers. Through specific coaching techniques for those experiencing a disease scenario, with an operational scientific method but with a holistic and spiritual vision, they manage to give meaning and significance to what has happened.
By changing the perspective with which the person directly involved is looking at reality, they will be able to transform behaviors and attitudes that otherwise would continue to fuel anxiety and stress. Thus, the disease no longer conditions the entire life of the person, who will be able to be serene and in harmony with themselves, despite and precisely because of what has happened.
An example
Sabina is a woman who was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 37. She had a balanced diet, exercised, and did not indulge in excesses. On her own, she could not find meaning and was deeply angry with life and the world.
In a session of oncological coaching, she completely changed her perspective on what had happened to her.
When I asked her: Instead of finding causes or, worse, blame, where is it useful to focus attention now? What are the dynamics you could transform that fuel anxiety and stress?
Because what you do next is more important than what you did before. Because you can only learn from the past but you cannot change it, while the future you can build.
And then it emerges that her search for perfectionism, her being always the good and beautiful girl to always meet others' expectations, had put her in the vortex of doing, doing, doing to prove her worth, never being happy with what she had and achieved, and this made her feel always in a rush and with the anxiety of never being enough. And so, the sense of the disease and her journey became to transform those attitudes. She immediately felt empowered, and today she is a woman much more centered on herself, more relaxed, and grateful for herself and life itself.
Words changed her perspective and, consequently, her life. The journey then continues with other strategies to educate her to more functional behaviors for her.
The Cancer Coach offers fundamental support in managing the complex emotions arising from the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Through conversation, active listening, and targeted techniques, they help clients process their experiences, fears, anxieties, and stress.
Each disease journey is unique. The Cancer Coach works closely with the client to develop personalized strategies that promote effective disease management, an improvement in the quality of life, and a positive attitude towards treatment and the future.
Through cancer coaching, the Cancer Coach also aims to strengthen the client's self-esteem and empowerment, helping them rediscover their internal resources to face the disease with more awareness and strength.
Who it's for
The Cancer Coaching service is aimed not only at cancer patients but also at people living with other types of diseases and their caregivers, who often find themselves managing situations of great emotional and physical stress. The support is also extended to health professionals who wish to deepen communication techniques and emotional management specific to oncological patients.
I want to clarify that Cancer Coaching focuses on the person and not on the disease, and for this reason, it offers profound personal growth work.
The benefits of cancer coaching
The benefits are numerous, starting from the fact that managing anxiety and stress means that treatments have more effect and are more tolerated, as reported by a study published in December 2023 by the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and published in 'Nature Medicine.'
It improves the quality of life and people manage to handle relationships better. It strengthens self-esteem and confidence in oneself and one's abilities, and thus they are also able to make decisions they previously did not allow themselves. It nurtures self-love and acceptance of the disease, approaching life proactively, taking responsibility, and always asking: what can I do to live to the fullest.
For caregivers
Stress management: Cancer coaching offers caregivers tools to manage the stress and anxiety related to caring for a sick relative, bringing focus and balance back into the relationship.
Emotional support: An environment of listening and understanding helps caregivers process their own emotions, reducing the sense of isolation and allowing themselves to nurture passions and interests, despite everything.
Why become a cancer coach?
Becoming a Cancer Coach is much more than a professional choice; it's a commitment to oneself and others, a journey of continuous growth and learning. It's the opportunity to leave an indelible mark and an invaluable contribution in people's lives, transforming the fight against cancer into a path of rebirth and hope.
Becoming a Cancer Coach offers the chance to make a difference in people's lives, providing support, guidance, and hope during one of the most difficult times of their existence. Beyond the human satisfaction and the profound meaning that this work entails, Cancer Coaching represents a growing professional field, with opportunities for paid compensation and the development of a meaningful and rewarding career. Cancer Coaching represents a profession of the future, capable of combining technical knowledge with a deep sense of empathy and humanity, and it is the ultimate expression of a Life Mission.
The innovative method I have created is based on the development of inner resources and the transformation of dysfunctional dynamics that fuel anxiety and stress, and it stands out for a holistic approach that integrates scientific and spiritual aspects, offering not only concrete support but also a path of inner growth. This approach has already brought tangible results to hundreds of patients, their families, and professionals in the field, demonstrating the potential for change and improvement in the quality of life that Cancer Coaching can offer.
