So many of us tend to live our lives on autopilot, often working jobs for the money rather than the satisfaction or enjoyment. The money pays for our lifestyles that we have, cars, holidays, homes, and our social lives… But do all these things really bring us joy? I mean yes, they can do temporarily but, in my experience, it is just temporary until we purchase the next thing to make us ‘happy.’
We are working so hard during the week that when it comes to the weekend, we either ‘reward’ ourselves with a good drink to unwind which can mean we end up spending the Sunday recovering, or we cram as much as we can into the weekend, which is ‘our own time’ then when it gets to Monday, we still feel exhausted.
I believe that we are so used to living in stress and chaos that we have forgotten what it feels like to feel peace.
Do we really know what makes us happy though, I mean really happy? That feeling you get in your gut when you feel your joy! When you catch yourself smiling so deeply you actually feel it in your heart
In the west we are taught to look outside of ourselves for joy, we are taught to go get, have more, be more, consume consume consume!
I truly believe that we are so used to living in stress and chaos that we have forgotten what it feels like to feel peace. I believe that when we are not living a life led by our heart and what we truly love, life can feel like a struggle, and we can end up feeling lost and stuck. The stress and disconnect can then lead to us becoming sick. This is what happened to me.
When I was working in the corporate industry, I was also dealing with the effects of a long-term health condition and so I was very much on autopilot most days. It is interesting, looking back at how I was just surviving each day rather than living it. It seemed that the only joy I experienced was when it came to the weekends or holidays. Of course, this was always short-lived, and that dreaded Sunday feeling would always return.
After years of living on autopilot in the finance industry, I discovered I was an Empath and then found Reiki! (I will share more of the Empath story in another article).
Reiki has helped me authentically connect with my true self and live a much more fulfilling life with a lot less stress and anxiety. Halleluiah!
I wanted to share Reiki with as many people as possible, so after being made redundant in my corporate job I started a Reiki business Heart-To-Head. I guide intuitive empaths and sensitive individuals, both professionals and non-professionals, to manage and distance themselves from the intense energy of others while regaining their inner peace and abundant joy.
So, what is Reiki?
Reiki (Japanese word) Rei meaning Universal, Ki meaning life force energy, which is around us. I channel the Reiki through myself to the recipient, be it a person or animal.
Our subtle body is a powerhouse of energy, encompassing our auric field and multiple levels of our aura. Within this intricate energy anatomy lie the vital energy centres, also known as chakras, which directly influence the functions of specific organs and our emotional well-being.
We all possess the remarkable ability to heal, yet our energy centres can suffer from blockages caused by the accumulation of stagnant, weary energy stemming from chronic stress, anxiety, toxins, trauma, grief, self-doubt, fear, and low self-esteem. If left unaddressed, these heavy energies can lead to imbalance, illness, and disease.
Enter Reiki, a powerful tool in the battle against these imbalances. With its transformative ability, Reiki aids in processing and releasing the weight of heavy emotions, trauma, discord, and stagnant energy, thereby revitalizing the body and unleashing its innate healing capacity.
How is it done?
Reiki is a beautiful practice where the practitioner's bio energy field channels healing energy out through their hands to the recipient. The practitioner either places their hands gently on or hovers just over specific parts of the body corresponding to energy centres, it aims to dissolve any energy blockages and revitalize the recipient's energy flow. It's a wonderful way to bring balance and harmony to the body mind and spirit.
Quantum Physics offers a fascinating explanation for this phenomenon known as entrainment. In this intricate process, the practitioner channels the higher vibrational energy of reiki to the lower vibrational energy, effectively raising the recipient's frequency and fostering synchronization. The outcome is truly remarkable – a beautiful harmonization of frequencies that works to restore the recipient's natural state of being, while also stimulating the body's innate healing abilities. This incredible potential enables a gentle yet profound shift in energy, paving the way for entirely new experiences in one's world.
Many of us are living in a fight or flight state, which is not sustainable and if left unchecked can have long term consequences on our health.
What can Reiki help with?
Reiki helps us connect with our true selves, free from the beliefs and habits that limit us as humans. It allows us to make choices from our hearts, not based on our programmed responses.
Reiki can also help with things like:
Anxiety and Depression
Pain
Helps the body heal naturally from sickness.
Feeling stuck
Going through a breakup
Brain fog
Feeling lost and disconnected from self and others.
Some common responses to Reiki:
Feeling Lighter
Less bothered by day-to-day stuff
Feeling less overwhelmed
Feeling calmer and more focussed
Feeling a sense of peace
Refreshed and revitalised
Letting go of things.
Feel more grounded.
The world is waking up and the word is out
There have been numerous scientific studies on Reiki and Energy Healing. Reiki is currently utilized in hospitals in the UK and around the globe, including St Georges Hospital in Tooting, through the Full Circle Fund.
Many private healthcare policies now cover Reiki sessions.
I am a member of Reiki Medic-Care, an organization that offers free distant reiki sessions to frontline medical workers. The feedback from these sessions has been remarkable, and a scientific study published last year demonstrated a reduction in pain, anxiety, and improved sleep as a result.
Reiki also works beautifully with animals and is a wonderful way to connect with and thank our pets for all that they do for us
Our pets reflect our emotions and physical states, particularly dogs. They mirror our feelings of sadness, happiness, excitement, and stress. Similarly, when our pets are anxious or unwell, we absorb their energy.
As with humans our pets can suffer from energy blockages which can present themselves in the following ways:
Anxiety
Trust Issues
Fear
Sadness
Mental & Emotional issues
Behavioural Problems
There is nothing more rewarding than seeing an animal go from stressed/hyper to a relaxed state. Reiki is particularly great for rescue dogs and animals that may be holding onto old trauma from previous experiences.
I truly believe the reason it feels so hard having a human experience on the planet right now, is that we are in a pivotal moment
There is so much coming up to the surface to be purged, old and dark stuff that needs to be cleared from our world. It feels a bit like we are in the eye of the storm. I believe that a lot of us are also going through this on a personal level – things that are no longer in alignment with our soul are starting to become very apparent and uncomfortable.
This can be people, situations, jobs, even family energy.
It is more important than ever that we tune into who we really are and what makes us happy, and Reiki truly is an incredible way for us to do this.
If you would like to experience Reiki for yourself or your pet, please reach out through my website, I would love to hear from you.
If you are interested to learn more about my journey, please read my very honest recent blog, on how my recent transition to full time self-employed has gone.
Emma is also the co-founder and co-host of the Podcast ‘In-The-Spirit-Of-Everything’ with a friend and fellow Reiki Practitioner Karen, in which they discuss not only everything spiritual, but whatever life throws their way, through the eyes of love, humour and perhaps the odd bit of swearing. They share how they manage to stay sane (ish) and grounded in this beautiful but sometimes crazy world, hoping it helps you negotiate it too.
Disclaimer
Reiki Practitioners do not diagnose conditions neither do they prescribe or perform medical treatment, prescribe substances nor interfere with the treatment of a licensed medical professional. Reiki does not take the place of medical care. Reiki should not be used as a replacement for the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions by a physician, or as a replacement for the diagnosis and treatment of psychological conditions by a psychiatrist and/or a psychologist. Reiki can complement any medical or psychological care the client may be receiving. The body has the ability to heal itself and to do so complete relaxation is often beneficial. Long term imbalances in the body sometimes require multiple sessions in order to facilitate the level of relaxation needed by the body to heal itself.

Emma is an Empath, Reiki Master/Teacher for people and a Registered Animal Healer for Pets, owner of Heart To Head, Co-founder and Co-host of the Podcast ‘In The Spirit Of Everything’ Having spent many years in the corporate industry Emma discovered she was an Empath, and her life finally started to make sense!
Emma soon realised that her sensitivity was actually a superpower, and that not everyone could pick up the same things that Empaths did.
She began to understand her sensitivities and how she could feel other people’s emotions and pick up their energy.
No wonder she was always so tired and sick!
Then Emma found Reiki and her world changed!
She studied and learnt how to protect her energy, not just with the clients and animals she was working with, but also with the people around her.
Wow – what a game-changer that was!
Emma became a much calmer, happier person and was much less affected by other people’s ‘stuff’ going on so personally.
Being with someone’s energy and not in their energy makes a huge difference to how you feel as an Empath and how you can hold space and support other people.
