Through what sort of lens do you view the world?
Do you perceive life as being full of problems and struggles?
Or do you see possibilities and opportunities all around you?
Bob Proctor: “When we change our perception, the entire universe shifts – and we have the ability to shift our perception.”
You were born with extraordinary gifts, one of which is Perception. It’s also one of your highest mental faculties. And these higher faculties are what make us the creative beings that we are.
In 1961 Bob Proctor was making $4,000 a year and was $6,000 in debt. He was only 27 years old but was regularly getting sick and complaining of aches and pains.
He had a meeting with Raymond Stanford, who was successful, happy, and in a wealthy mindset. Ray asked him: “Why don’t you change your situation?” Bob replied that he really didn’t believe that he could. And Raymond said, “You know you can have anything you want, but you’re going have to change the way you’re looking at your life.”
He went on to explain that Bob Proctor was fixated on why he couldn’t change – that he was putting himself down because he didn’t go far in school and had no business experience.
Ray said, “Your problem isn’t a lack of education, experience, or money. “You’ve got a perception problem.” And he added, “If you change your point of view, your whole life will change.”
Well, Bob took this wisdom and learning to heart, and over time he DID change his perception. Bob Proctor created a company that generated millions of dollars in business and helped hundreds of thousands of people by teaching the concepts that had so profoundly changed his own life. And he said, “All I really did was change my point of view.”
THAT’S THE POWER OF PERCEPTION!!
The gift of perception allows you to be the architect of your future, rather than a victim of your circumstances.
Your perception influences your opinion, judgment, and understanding of a situation or person. It gives meaning to an experience and affects how you respond to a situation.
Most of our perception is from social programming learned throughout our lives. However, you DO have the choice to perceive every situation in a positive and empowering light – no matter how dire it may seem.
Notice What You Perceive
Our perceptions originate from our thoughts.
And your thoughts create your happiness or misery.
Observe yourself and your reactions to people, conditions, and circumstances. How do you respond to the events and news of the day?
It’s never what a person says or does that affects you, it’s your reaction to what’s said or done that matters. No one has the power to disturb, annoy or irritate you.
When you’re on the receiving end of judgment or criticism, you can’t be hurt when you know that you’re the master of your thoughts, reactions, and emotions. Emotions follow thoughts, and you have the power to reject all thoughts which may disturb or upset you.
Shift Your Perception
What you see has to do with the way you’re pointed in life – change your direction and your life will look completely different.
Here’s an experiment you can try. The next time you have a problem, write it down on a sheet of paper and place the paper on a table. Then walk around the table and look at the problem from different angles – this will cause a shift in your perception. And you will come up with more inspired solutions.
A God’s Eye View
Whenever you have a worry or problem, remember that we are tiny specks in the Milky Way – this puts your problem into perspective.
It’s insignificant from that viewpoint, and you are bigger than your problem. We are the only creatures on the planet with the ability to change our perception of a situation.
Wayne Dyer: “When you change the way you look at something, the thing you look at changes.”
Changing your perception isn’t a “once and done” deal.
It takes awareness and practice to reinforce your new empowered point of view.
And as with any new learning, this is easier achieved through mentorship and support using a proven, repeatable system that gives you the tools to succeed.
When you use repetition and feeling to imprint positive images and experiences on your subconscious mind, over time, you will notice your thoughts and perceptions changing from doubt, worry, and fear to joy, happiness, and love.
You’ll start to view the world through a different lens.
You have the power to climb out of that dark cave, stand in the light of your awareness, and discover who you really are. There’s an ever-upward pull of growth and expansion in the universe, and a greater, freer, expanded life is seeking to express itself in you.
Press the Internal Pause Button
Nothing is inherently good or bad; it’s only our thinking that makes it so.
What we perceive as apparent good or bad, is based on our life-long conditioning and affects our understanding and responses.
The next time something happens that you think is bad, pause and wait three days, during which time get really curious about what possible good there might be in this circumstance.
During this process, there will be many times when your mind will want to go back and relive the initial worry or panic. But every time it does, say, “No, I’ll revisit you on day 3.” You then begin to gain some internal recognition that you actually CAN choose to think differently. And you CAN choose how you’re going to feel in any circumstance. And this gives you power over your thoughts and perceptions, regardless of what happens.
When you perceive that something terrible has happened, pause and think “What if it isn’t so terrible?” What if this is the seed of a greater good in my life that I can’t even begin to understand right now?
How can you see a situation as neither good nor bad?
Don’t be so quick to react and judge it.
Often, you initially see a situation as “bad” – but then you realize that good could come from it. For example, you get laid off from your job but find that a much better opportunity arises. And then you realize that what happened was a blessing in disguise.
Unlock the Power of Your Perception
In every moment of every day, you are actively using your faculty of Perception. The secret to unlocking its true power involves a subtle shift in your awareness and the way you look at things.
Now that you’ve discovered how to make this shift, prepare to be amazed! You’ll feel as if you just stepped into a completely different world. And in the most important ways, that’s exactly what you’ve done.
It won’t look different. But suddenly, challenges that seemed overwhelming will simply be gone, and you will find yourself surrounded by opportunities and possibilities you never saw before—though they were always there for you.
I hope that you’re now inspired to use the Power of Your Perception to change your point of view, step into your greatness and live an amazing life that you love!
