The Michael Griffiths Story

Written by: Michael Griffiths, Executive Contributor

Executive Contributors at Brainz Magazine are handpicked and invited to contribute because of their knowledge and valuable insight within their area of expertise.

From humble beginnings growing up in Melbourne, Australia to a global entrepreneur, keynote presenter and international bestselling author, Michael Griffiths is a powerful inspiration to coaches, consultants and professional service business owners all around the world.

Growing up as a sports fanatic, he took to the basketball courts, soccer fields, tennis courts and played AFL all at a very high level. 3 knee reconstructions at 17,18 & 19 and the playing days were over, but the coaching and mentoring days had begun. In particular with basketball. This took Michael around the globe with national league teams, college teams in the USA and Olympic teams, this was life until 2009, when a new world of business opened up.

Knowing he wanted to achieve more, do more, make a bigger impact and inspire more people, the first business was born and as we fast forward on a decade, Michael has created 7 businesses, selling 6 along the way in multiple industries.

His passion to fast track business growth through referrals, retention, neuro-science and brain chemicals with what he calls the 'Limbic Advantage'. Michael brings his own unique and entertaining style to this very big and very relevant topic.

Michael Griffiths is best described as the Referral Marketing Guru – in other words, he specialises in showing businesses across every corner of the planet how to get more referrals, use their networks more effectively, leverage through partnerships, retain clients for longer and turn them into walking, talking ambassadors.

The bottom line... Fast-tracking business growth and creating greater profits comes down to how great you are at relationships within your business.

With 2 bestselling books (and a 3rd on the way), the 1 referral marketing podcast on I-Tunes for the past 5 years and presentations delivered in over 20 countries, he is clearly sought after to provide advice and wisdom for the smallest of businesses to the largest of organisations.

Michael is able to share his observations, experiences and research from around the world to identify the exact steps any organisation needs to take to become more remarkable and get a flood of referrals. He delivers his advice in a down to earth, simple and often hilarious way. Michael has been an entrepreneurial commentator for many years, sharing both his observations and his realisations with audiences in INC.com, Huffington Post, On NBCS, CBS, ABC, NewsCorp and many others.

As a keynote presenter, Michael's authenticity is one of his greatest assets. He has the rare ability to hold a mirror up to people and show them exactly what's wrong and how to change it FAST, with unapologetic honesty and a quick wit.

Michael imparts wisdom generously, but with clear expectations – he doesn’t just want to leave a warm and fuzzy lasting impression on his audience, he wants to have a lasting impact on the way they choose to live, work and do business as a result of the information he shares and stories he tells.

The vision is HUGE… To inspire 1 million consultants every year to play a bigger game in their business, to be more profitable than ever before and to win every day, so they contribute and change society for the better.

Michael truly believes that as entrepreneurs we get to change the world, to create these ripples effects and make society a better place and that is what they do with their clients in Partnership Club.

When asking Michael about the mistakes that coaches, consultants, professional service providers make in getting referrals and creating client retention, his answer is pretty simple.

There are 3 main ones

First… People just aren’t strategic around how to accelerate the trust, the emotional bonds you can create with another person or the profound loyalty. It is more luck than anything else. As humans, we can influence anyone to feel a particular way about us, but we just don’t, hence leaving so many opportunities on the table.

Next… People don’t realise that getting 15-20 referrals a month is actually quite easy with the right plan. 15 referrals a month will equal 8 new clients a month… That’s 100 new clients a year. That would absolutely transform many coaches and consultants businesses.

Finally… We don’t understand human behaviour and the role our Limbic and Cortex brains play. 99% of the time we are doing the wrong thing to the wrong part of the brain. It's an easy fix when you understand how.

When asked where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time, Michael’s response was pretty much what I’d expect from such a person. Contributing more to underprivileged children and rescued animals (his two big charities right now), inspiring more business owners to be heartfelt with their thinking, influential with their strategy and magical with their experiences.

Business is just a vehicle to create wealth and every person should be creating as much wealth as possible so they can help society and those in society that really need our help.

When looking through Michael’s websites and programs you can see the hundreds of clients that rant and rave about someone who walks the talk and ensures they do exactly what they preach to others.
