Did you conceive your business from an inner awakening of some kind? Perhaps an intuitive tug, a lucid dream, some undeniable coincidences or a meditative vision led your way. Maybe it grew out of your concern for the planet and humanity, springing from a sense of personal responsibility. It possibly feels like this is what you were born to do, a purposeful duty to fulfill.
If you answered yes to any of the above, you can proudly proclaim that your business is rooted in consciousness. You are a trailblazer, rebelling against established business models and conventional objectives.
The inner experience that spurred your direction feels more real than any framed degree or professional license. You know you are doing something meaningful and maybe even important. Your focus goes beyond profit margins and competition battles. Your commitment to integrity and transparency is etched in your Mission Statement.
Those Challenges
Mindfully following your awakened consciousness is beyond commendable, in life as well as business. However, listening to your heart rather than just your head can present some interesting tests in this left-brained world.
Like, what happens when trying to explain following your inner path to secure a business loan? Or requesting credit from a new vendor by assuring them to just trust? Or instructing employees to be open-hearted and present?
Unless you happen to be dealing with equally conscious lenders, vendors and employees, your attempts may fall short of evidentiary business credentials and may inspire confusion.
Explaining in less woo-woo terms can help solve those dilemmas as well as sticking with your commitment no matter what.
What is Consciousness in Business?
Humanity is slowly shifting, waking up from denial and ignorance but there is still a long way to go. The business world is not immune to these transformations. In fact, as people shift their priorities and understand the importance of thinking globally, businesses must comply or be left in the dust.
There are several key qualities that define an authentically conscious human: Letting go of ego-based motivations; feeling a connection with all others as well as the universe; functioning from mindfulness; knowing you are a spirit experiencing physical existence; trusting the process and finding deeper meaning in life.
These qualities cannot be faked and may seem contrary to what business is about. Know that it is possible to be successful and conscious simultaneously since it boils down to pure motives and true intentions.
Here are ten essential consciousness lessons your business (and life) offers:
1. Consciousness unfolds.
Every day presents opportunities to use your business as part of your inner awakening journey. You are given ways to realize more about yourself, others and life. You can learn universal lessons such as: Trusting and going with the flow; shifting your mindset to possibility thinking; maintaining your integrity even in challenging situations; allowing your wise intuition lead the way; discovering your belief systems and hidden fears so as to expose who you truly are. In other words, business can enable you to see yourself and the world with awakened eyes.
2. Internal approval.
Business is a blatant mirror showing you your need for external approval. This core issue - false notions about what it means to be as success - can sway you from your truth and purpose. Remember that real approval comes from within. If your business isn’t bringing in the financial accolades you had hoped for, notice your triggers. Your challenge is knowing you are enough no matter what.
3. Non-attachment.
Release fear-based notions of how your business has to be or look. The more you release attachments and trust the process, the more space is created for success.
4. Self-acceptance.
Appreciate your unique strengths and talents rather than focusing on and judging your weaknesses.
5. Feeling purposeful.
If you have lofty, purposeful goals for your business, you might feel the weight of the world on your shoulders. This can elicit ongoing heaviness and struggle. Discovering that you can handle anything presented to you provides more trust, strength and knowledge.
6. A changing belief system.
As your consciousness evolves, you may discover that you know less than you thought. This might be frightening to admit since you are supposed to be “the expert.” Learn to go past your comfort zone and trust your inner wisdom rather than only relying on facts and figures.
7. In synch with the world.
Notice and honor meaningful coincidences and events that bring pause. They are evidence of your energetic connection to the universe. It may feel odd at first, but eventually it becomes normal to trust those signs and illogical pulls. They are all lovingly supporting and directing you.
8. Compassion expands.
Being conscious enables you to feel more attuned to others. This brings more compassion, empathy and a willingness to relate beyond business-level acquaintances. If it feels appropriate, allow for that.
9. Aliveness happens.
Because of your pure intent and clarity of purpose, work feels meaningful. Fear may still show up, but it is transcendent since trust counteracts it. Joy becomes a more permanent state since you are not trying to grasp it from an external place. This is empowerment.
10. Take action.
As one who has found your true self, involvement in social causes or global movements may become a priority. You desire to do even more for the planet, and you take empowered action to create even more change. Listen to and follow those pulls.
In Conclusion
It is important to challenge yourself to stay the course, remain true to your awakening consciousness no matter the challenges. Stay committed to your heart and trust that life is working through you in palpable, deserving ways.
Whatever inspired you to create your business, or be part of someone else’s, you did so by tapping into and trusting your inner power. Remember how strong you are. Know that this friendly universe is supporting you as you allow your internal wisdom to lead the way.
