“So, what exactly did the dead guy have to say?” I am on the phone with my Sister, and I can almost see her face. When she asked this question, her head tilted a bit, and that squint of her eyes would be quizzical. She believes me but can’t quite understand why anyone would want to talk to a dead person. She’s a former nurse and medical malpractice attorney; It is a bit like being deposed. I am joking and write this with a smile on my face. She is adorable.
I tell her the reasons and what people do ask in a session. The first is, “are they ok?” Then we invariably get into was the will changed, estate disputes, lost objects, the need to make amends, or should they keep or sell the property. What do they do all day? What goes on over there? I never know what will come up. Sometimes, I start to talk once the connection is made. My mouth starts moving, like watching myself speak on a time delay. I am witnessing myself talking. It is hard to explain.
I am what is known as an Evidential Medium. That means I provide details: names, initials, dates, the cause of death, their occupation, and what they looked like. At times all of them. I will get enough information, so they know whom I am talking to or about. Often the statement makes no sense at all to me. I say what I hear, see, or feel.
I almost always get physical symptoms, chest pain, and others that go away as soon as I figure out who is there. I often see what happened like a movie in my head. I also see flashes of houses, places, and activities, but I genuinely feel who this person was. I am using all 8 Clair abilities at the same time. I cannot do more than 2 of these sessions a day.
It was right before Easter, and I had connected it with a man who died of smoke inhalation. I felt short of breath, and my voice was hoarse. He was a firefighter on 9/11. His brother was my client. He had a lot to say. He was almost out of the building, and they found his body intact on the ground floor near the door. He could not see, and then something hit him in the chest. This was, in fact, the case. His brother wanted to know if he was “ok.” As I said prior, the most common question. He then talked about how much he loved his job: “the rush.” These are the exact words I am told he used while alive. He spoke of his crew. He knew the risks and would.
Not have changed a thing. He talked about stuff they had done together as kids. Overall, it was a sad but rewarding session. His brother had wanted to do this for years.
Mediumship is probably the hardest thing I do, specifically the death of a child.
I think all mediums have a process by which they read, and none of us are the same. People always ask, “What are they doing over there?” I have come to believe that “there” does not exist. When I connect with a specific person, it is like feeling their energy. What they looked like, how they dressed, their personality. I have no idea what they will say. It is like tuning into a specific vibrational frequency. An analogy would be 97.3 on the radio. Everyone has their unique energy.
I usually start with a psychic reading, what is going on now, career, health, love, and money. At times I will hear, “I came for mediumship.” I then tell the client I don’t have them on speed dial.
I may see or know someone is there immediately, but I wait until I feel the energy is powerful. Then once that door opens, it is chaotic for a few minutes until the most critical point emerges. It takes about 5 minutes, especially if more than four people are there.
Some readings are healing, some sad, and some funny. I can generally stay objective, but there have been times I have needed to stop, take a breath, and compose myself.
When I was a child, I saw spirits. They would wake me up at night, and I would be terrified. I had not seen one for years until about four years ago. I was lying in bed, and you could see the hallway from my bed. I wake up, and I do not know this man. He looks like a natural person, except you can see right through him. I call this a light body. I have no idea who he is. He has grey hair, wire-rim glasses, and looks disheveled. He is wearing a caramel-colored bathrobe.
I get up, and a few hours later, my phone rings. “I need you to come down here. I have this spirit walking up and down my hallway, I need you to get rid of him.” Before Covid, I did house clearings; I was trained in sacred mantras when I became a Feng Shul Master. “I said, does he look like, and described whom I had seen.” There was dead silence for a few minutes. “How did you know that? I said he was here 4 hours ago.”
I think back to a conversation I had with another psychic about SEO. “Why bother? Let them direct the traffic up there; you don’t think they know who is going where, when, and why?” People find me in the strangest ways.
But back to the question of “are they ok?” They are fine, better than fine, and better than those left behind. They can hear and see and get around at the speed of light. They have no pain, no hunger; All is well.
I feel from what I have experienced that they exist in the now, at their vibrational rate.
I experience all energy that comes through at certain levels; I can see them. The highest, of course, would be God as you think of him. I have connected with this energy about five times only. The first time it happened, I was like, no, this is not happening; you are really losing it.
I was on a short call through a service where people can stay anonymous. Many famous people call there not wanting you to know who they are. The room and energy were Gold; it happened so fast. “Tell her this, tell her that.” It was about 5 or 6 things, and then he was gone. She knew exactly what I meant. She was an author, and it was about her book.
Below that energy level is the Angels, Buddha, Jesus, and any religious or spiritual figures you can imagine. They do not argue about religion over there.
Below that is a place I do not visit often. It is dark, and they are stuck.
I can also connect with pets, but they feel different.
I would have laughed if anyone told me 20 years ago that I would be talking to dead people. While training as a therapist, I avoided grief and bereavement like the plague. It was not for me; it was too depressing. Plus, death scared me, but not anymore.
I find the deceased to be car-obsessed. It is the strangest thing, strange being relative here.
I have a client. She comes every so often to talk to her deceased husband, who, by the way, is quite funny. He always asks about her car. The first time she came, I said you have a black car, like an SUV, with a sideboard, and something is wrong there, on the driver’s side. We were getting up to leave, and “He said. Tell her to enjoy her tea.” She looked at me and said, “I don’t drink tea.” I reply, “that is what I heard.”
We go out to the parking lot, and there is the car. I point to the place I think there is a problem.
I found out later there was, and she said, “Oh my God! I was at the mall, got some iced tea, and left it in the car; I totally forgot about it.”
And that, folks, is evidential mediumship at its best.
The last time she came, I noted he didn’t bring up the car at the end of the session. She told him she comes here to be told she is loved and missed; if he brought up the car, she would lose it. LOL.
I guess he got the message.
I love my job.
