The human condition is vast, intricate, and deeply interconnected. It spans the layers of physical, emotional, spiritual, and communal existence, demanding an approach to healing that honors its complexity. At Sunny Therapeutics, we do not just see clients; we witness their stories, their triumphs, and their struggles. Each step forward is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the profound need for authentic, holistic care.

Sunny Therapeutics was born out of burnout, a state of exhaustion that stripped away pretense and revealed the essence of who I am: Dr. Udim Isang, a healer, teacher, and advocate for liberation through intentional practice. In that vulnerable space, I reclaimed myself and reimagined what it means to heal, not just the body but the soul. Today, Sunny Therapeutics is a sanctuary for those seeking alignment, a place where capitalism’s grip on wellness is loosened, and true healing takes root.

The power of indigenous medicine

In my practice, I have turned to the wisdom of indigenous medicine, blending music, art, dance, and even kink into therapeutic modalities. These aren’t just tools; they are ancestral languages, ways of knowing that connect us to ourselves and to one another. Kink, often misunderstood, offers a profound exploration of boundaries, consent, and trust, a reclamation of the body’s ability to feel and heal. Music and dance awaken the spirit, while art holds space for stories too complex for words.

This reclamation is personal and communal. As Mbia Idiong, I carry the teachings of my Ibibio and Anaang heritage, interweaving them with the insights I have gained as a Doctor of Physical Therapy and educator. This blend of ancient and modern practices anchors my work, challenging the homogenized frameworks of care that often dominate healthcare systems. Nsong Idem Edi Uyai, and Nsong Idem Edi Imo, Wholeness is beauty, and wholeness is health.

Small businesses with big visions

Sunny Therapeutics is not alone in this journey. Across the world, holistic small businesses are emerging as beacons of hope. These are spaces that prioritize people over profit, healing over hustle. They serve as antidotes to the systems that perpetuate harm, offering a model for what true care can look like. These businesses understand that healing the world requires dismantling the very structures that profit from its pain.

Creating communities of change

Through my physical therapy practice, my nonprofit, The Ufan Ima Institute (501(c)(3)), and my books, I have sought to create spaces where connection thrives. I am deeply honored to have written works that explore the intersections of liberation, practice, and healing. My book, Liberation Through Practice: Voices of Black & Indigenous Healers, amplifies the stories of those who challenge systemic bias and offer pathways to freedom.

But the work is far from done. I envision a network of healers, changemakers, and visionaries coming together to reimagine care. I invite those who feel called to this work to connect with me. Let us share ideas, inspire one another, and collaborate to make the world a better place.

Authenticity as a pathway to liberation

The journey to this moment has been one of shedding layers, of releasing what no longer serves and stepping into authenticity. As Madam Sol, I embrace the fullness of my identity, honoring both the light and the shadow. This authenticity is the foundation of Sunny Therapeutics and the cornerstone of my approach to healing.

Together, we can build a world where healing is not a privilege but a right, where care is rooted in compassion and respect. Let us rise to the complexity of the human condition and meet it with the depth it deserves.

To fellow healers and changemakers: our paths may be diverse, but our purpose is shared. Join me as we create a community of care that uplifts, empowers, and transforms.
