Permanent weight loss can feel like a “unicorn”–rare and elusive. But sustainable weight loss is possible when approached the right way. And the “right way” goes beyond the typical focus on diets and calories.
Studies show it’s more common for dieters to regain the weight they lose than to maintain it long-term. Research by Busetto et al. (2021) highlights that weight regain is typical and linked to physiological factors beyond just “calories in, calories out”
I yo-yo dieted for 15 years. My weight fluctuated between 160 lbs (73 kg) and 132 lbs (60 kg). Today, without dieting, my weight is a stable 143 lbs (65 kg), give or take small seasonal shifts. The key to my success?
Focusing on emotional healing, energy work, joy, and manifestation rather than food and weight. Here’s what I learned—and what can help you achieve lasting weight loss, too.
1. Think like Einstein: Approach weight loss from a higher level
Einstein’s wisdom applies to weight loss: You can’t solve a problem with the same level of thinking that created it. Instead of focusing solely on food and exercise, shift your awareness to a higher perspective—where inner transformation leads to lasting physical change.
The weight loss industry, which thrives on repeat customers, emphasizes simplistic calorie counting. But sustainable weight loss requires addressing our subconscious beliefs, emotional experiences, and deeper motivations.
2. Work with your subconscious mind
Your subconscious mind drives 95% of your behaviour. It holds deep-seated thoughts, emotions, and patterns. If your subconscious is not aligned with your conscious weight loss goals, it will always undermine your efforts.
Weight loss becomes effortless when you uncover and transform subconscious blocks. By feeding your mind with positive beliefs and truths, your actions naturally align with success.
3. Heal your trauma
Unresolved trauma often manifests as emotional eating or weight gain. The Sanskrit concept of Samskaras refers to emotional wounds etched in our energetic field—“weighty feelings” we carry that contribute to physical weight gain. These Samskaras must be healed in order for the physical release to follow. The most powerful technique uses energy healing, which I provide to my clients for rapid transformation.
Clients I work with often overeat to numb emotional pain instead of addressing the root causes of their dysfunction and discomfort. Some women develop excess weight as a subconscious defense mechanism—using fat as protection from vulnerability, especially after toxic relationships. Healing these emotional wounds frees clients to release weight naturally and for good.
4. Set boundaries – Say goodbye to “Ms. nice girl”
Many women struggle with weight because of poor boundaries, often linked to trauma or people-pleasing tendencies. Empaths and highly sensitive people (HSPs) tend to absorb others’ emotions and carry energetic burdens that manifest as excess weight.
Learning to set boundaries and say “no” is essential—not just for emotional well-being but for physical health. Sometimes we need to release the energy of other people that we have been holding on to, in order to allow our body to release unnecessary weight.
5. Work with a coach who has been through the journey themselves
To transform your physical self, you must also transform your inner self. Self-development work with an experienced personal guide who has been through a similar weight loss and body transformation journey ensures you won’t keep “yo-yoing” between weight loss and gain.
