Living Is The New Working

Why are you still working 40+ hours a week, 50 weeks a year? Yes - I’m looking at you. The one who has 6+ months of living costs in their savings account. The one who even though they have a safety net, they feel they have to keep saving. Accumulating wealth, so they can afford more.

When actually, you know you could live with less. The thing you can’t live without, however, is a starved ego. If you chose to work at a job that pays enough and allowed you to live as much as you work your ego would feel neglected. It would miss the thrill of working at that trendy company, in a job that pays you enough to buy the fancy things and escape on the luxurious holidays, with a title that validates how hard you have worked to get there. The thousands of hours you have devoted to becoming the businessman or woman you are today. If you stopped working so damn hard, you’d have to watch this part of your past “go to waste”. The ultimate sunk cost.

You’d have to accept the fact and potentially the shame that you have been driven by money & status for years on end. You’d have to recognize that you are in a codependent relationship with an inanimate being, your career. With whom you’ve got no boundaries, and who you allowed over and over again to dictate your worth. When really, you know your worth. You are worthy without your career.

If you would only slow down and begin living as much as you have always worked, you would find this home within yourself.

You would be free of the need for external validation.

You would have conquered your ego disguised as ambition.

You would begin to see that simply living also allows for purposeful contributions. On your own terms, and in your own time.

For the people who mean something to you. And for the strangers you are meant to impact.

If this has resonated, that means it's time to file the papers to divorce your co-dependent partner, Mr. Career.

Allow yourself to shed the tears and grieve the loss.

Once you’re ready to date again, demand a healthy attachment style with whatever it is you’re attracted to.

Because Miss Purpose is out there waiting for you - don't keep her waiting.
