Keys From Your Past, Doors To Your Future – An Exclusive Interview With Joslynn Thomas

After connecting with people across nine industries, six states, and a variety of lifestyles, Joslynn Thomas recognized her unique ability to synthesize diverse experiences and perspectives. What was often perceived by others as aimless professional and locational pivots, she recognized as a purposeful, large-scale exploration of multiple viewpoints of the human experience to create an evolving, in-depth understanding. With a deep desire to help others step into the pilot seat of their own lives, Joslynn developed a method to help individuals leverage their unique characteristics, passions, and expertise. She is the founder and CEO of The LEGACY Way, a personal and aspirational mastery institute, where she leads the Legacy Mastermind.

Tell us a bit about your story, how did you get here?

I’ve looked over my past more in the last year than I have in my entire life, and what I’ve continuously found fascinating is that for every significant event I experienced as an adult, there’s a clear parallel in my childhood and adolescence. This observation in itself is actually the biggest instrument to the work I do today.

My mirrored experiences had these in common:

I moved around constantly, which really shaped my adventurous spirit. I lived in eight cities moved almost twice each city before I graduated high school; then went on to move from Michigan (where I was born, raised, and returned to twice) to Georgia, Texas, California, New York, and Arizona, where I am presently. I’ve always loved to immerse myself in the diversity of each environment, and now I have an insatiable desire to see as much of the world as I can, to become as well-rounded and worldly as possible.

I explored new interests often, from which I always developed new abilities and skill sets. I participated in softball, cheerleading, step team, track, mathletes, choir, dance, and drama, explored illustration and graphic design, and wrote an (unpublished) book at 15. I later worked in the beauty, service, military, corporate, film, spiritual/holistic, tattoo, and gambling industries while intermittently advising. I find myself able to relate to a broad spectrum of sentiments, experiences, and ideas while seamlessly applying my knowledge and expertise into my consulting, design, and system architecture.

Lastly, I’ve always sought a panoramic understanding of the human experience through synthesis and perspective. My journey into synthesis began with an inquiry into consciousness at 15, exploring 'the brain vs. the mind,' and expanded into self-directed studies in psychology, sociology, philosophy, phenomenology, spirituality, and even systems like astrology and Human Design.

Collecting perspectives began with connecting with peers through various recreational activities and evolved into building networks across industry after industry, state after state.

Of course, none of these experiences were linear or planned out, and they certainly weren’t without their troughs. I wasn’t keenly aware of these experiences as patterns as they came to life. It wasn’t until after a car accident in 2022 when I lost everything leading to an 18-month journey of turning an abundantly clear mirror into myself, that I had the opportunity to notice these patterns and pull them together with precision. It was during this time, the hardest period of my life that I curated the Personal Success System and founded my company, The Legacy Way.

What is the driving force behind The Legacy Way?

The Legacy Way is my answer to a profound calling to help others see their potential clearly and embody it fully. I created it as a space to unify and channel my ability to identify and systemize patterns, but it’s built on the concept of Universal Truth. What is true of the human experience for everyone? And how can we leverage these truths to architect better lives within the context of our society, while simultaneously improving that society? To reach as many people as possible, I’m forging a spectrum of experiences that enable individuals to witness and embody their potential. And that’s exactly the Legacy I’m building with this company.

Tell us about the LEGACY Mastermind. What does it aim to achieve?

I noticed specific patterns among everyone I've had the honor of reflecting and advising—while they are undoubtedly their own greatest resource, key elements were missing from their experiences:

  • Like-spirited peers to exchange resonant insights

  • Judgment-free spaces for change, error, and growth

  • Long-term accountability partnerships and consistent mentorship

  • Dedicated moments to celebrate both small milestones and major victories in their journey

  • Diverse environments for real-time evidence and reinforcing new perspective

  • Opportunities to apply their mastery outside familiar settings

The LEGACY Mastermind aims to provide these elements in an immersive, year-long membership experience, designed to help each member build a routine, lifestyle, and business rooted in their inherent characteristics and natural patterns. This program teaches and integrates the Personal Success System through twice-monthly mastermind sessions enriched by the diverse insights and perspectives of the group. Members benefit from an exclusive online community for mutual accountability and support, optional 1:1 coaching with a dedicated support line, and three travel opportunities (two domestic and one international) to apply the practice of these principles in varied environments. It even offers an Impact Guarantee, and if participants fully commit to the program but don’t experience significant results by the end of the year, they will receive their investment back.

What’s the common challenge your clients face?

My clients often struggle to break free from conventional methods that don’t align with who they truly are. They get stuck in cycles of following generic, one-size-fits-all strategies that lead to burnout, lack of fulfillment, and the constant postponement of their goals. They often believe that success, particularly in terms of wealth accumulation/financial independence and freedom of time and location, can only be achieved through years of hustle and grind or that it's completely out of reach. There tends to be a fixed idea of what discipline and commitment should look like, so they constantly strive to conform to the personality type they think is required to achieve personal freedom and professional success. My work focuses on helping these clients create a life that honors their well-being and individuality, breaking free from the need to fit into any mold.

What distinguishes the LEGACY Mastermind from other lifestyle & business development programs?

What distinguishes the LEGACY Mastermind from other lifestyle and business development programs is its adaptive model, designed to evolve with each individual’s unique experiences. Unlike traditional programs that can offer rigid systems or concepts to master independently, this program uses real-world evidence from your own life experiences as the foundation for creating actionable steps. It’s a panoramic approach, focusing not just on personal mastery in isolation but on how to leverage oneself, your environments, and your circumstances masterfully. It’s about working with the world within and around you rather than trying to impose a one-size-fits formula on it.

How do you maintain a healthy work/life balance being an entrepreneur, Mastermind host, and full-time single mother?

That's the beauty of lifestyle entrepreneurship, I built my work around who I am, what I do naturally, and what I love. It’s less about balancing work and life and more about maintaining a system that seamlessly integrates both. My leisure and time with my daughter are as vital to that system as my focused work hours. I adapt my schedule in alignment with how I naturally prefer to go about my day. With an increasing understanding of my own habits and rhythms, I’m able to systemize and evolve them rather than forcing myself into a structure that doesn’t suit me. As a result, burnout, imposter syndrome, and anxiety-induced decision-making no longer have to be part of my experience as an entrepreneur and full-time single mother.

What is your next goal or project?

Alongside preparing to cultivate a unique lifestyle for my daughter, now that she’s old enough to develop her characteristics and engage her own interests more independently I’m getting ready for the current round of LEGACY Mastermind memberships, as well as planning for the next round in April. I’m also excited to launch a series of Visualization Immersions, with the first one scheduled for December, and writing a new book.

For readers inspired by this conversation and seeking to start their intentional living journey, what first steps would you recommend?

I’d recommend three things, each accessible and effective no matter who you are or what you’re going through:

First, get to know and learn to trust your body. Our bodies tell us everything we need to know about our physiological and environmental needs. Comfort and discomfort are communicated to us in many different ways. Some experience anxiety, while others experience physical sickness when an environment (including those within it) is not good for us. On the other hand, some experience a burst of energy while others experience a profound sense of calm when an environment is particularly good for us. Don’t look for specific ways, just look for the consistent ones.

Next, get yourself in the environments that are conducive to your growth regularly. This can be as simple as regulating walks outside, or visiting a favorite spot often. The best environments for you will be restorative, as well as position you more receptively to curiosity. Finally, follow that curiosity. Curiosity is a natural motivator, produces higher amounts of dopamine (compared to regularly satisfying experiences vs. diverse experiences), and will always lead you to your next move.

How can those who resonate deeply with your journey and message get in touch with you for inquiry?

If you’re interested in participating in the LEGACY Mastermind, you can go here to grab a seat. Spots are limited, and memberships won’t re-open until Spring 2025.

If you’re not yet sure, I believe the best way to mutually assess alignment is to facilitate authentic correspondence in a pressure-free environment. So, I have a direct personal support line dedicated to serious inquiries via text, and calls can be scheduled. Anyone can reach out for an obligation-free chat here! For those without Facebook accounts, you can email mastermind@thelegacyway.life. I’ll surely be looking forward to connecting with those interested in participation (or collaboration).
