Bivas Ambasada, Film Producer and Entrepreneur
Introduce yourself! Please tell us about you and your life, so we can get to know you better.
I’m Bivas Ambasada, a film producer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist driven by a passion for creativity and meaningful impact. My life has been shaped by resilience and an unyielding belief in possibilities, having overcome significant challenges growing up in one of the most economically deprived and dangerous areas in London, where gang violence and crime were at the heartbeat of many of the young people growing up in the 90s. Beyond my work, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially guiding my six-year-old son toward becoming a changemaker in his own right. I am passionate about storytelling, innovation, and creating opportunities for underrepresented voices. Life, for me, is a beautiful canvas of creativity and purpose.
What is your business name, and how do you help your clients?
My business is called Ambasada Group, a dynamic enterprise focused on film production, entrepreneurship, and social impact. Through our ventures, we create opportunities for individuals and businesses to thrive. Whether it’s producing compelling films through Aurelius Films Social Enterprise or supporting diverse initiatives, we aim to inspire, uplift, and empower communities. At its core, Ambasada Group is about forging meaningful connections and driving positive change alongside our philanthropic work.
What inspired your passion for storytelling through film?
Storytelling has always been at the heart of who I am. Growing up, I found solace and inspiration in stories, be it in books, films, or the lived experiences of others. My passion for film emerged as a way to bridge art and humanity, showcasing the shared struggles, triumphs, and aspirations that connect us all. Film, to me, is the ultimate medium for empathy, offering a chance to spark dialogue and shift perspectives on a global scale.
How do you choose which stories to bring to life?
I am drawn to stories that challenge the status quo, amplify underrepresented voices, and carry the potential to inspire meaningful change. Whether it’s exploring complex human emotions or shedding light on societal issues, I gravitate toward narratives with authenticity and purpose. It’s about asking, “Will this story resonate? Will it make people feel, think, and act differently?” These questions guide my creative decisions.
Can you share a success story from your work with Aurelius Films?
One of my proudest moments was producing a project that highlighted the struggles and triumphs of a young changemaker working against all odds to uplift their community. The film not only gained critical acclaim but also sparked real-world initiatives to support similar grassroots efforts. Seeing art transcend the screen to create a tangible impact was a reminder of why I do what I do. This opened up invitations from Schools and Academies to discuss important societal issues; one such issue is the escalation in knife crime in London. We believe that His ' Story aligns perfectly with showcasing films that challenge, inspire, and create meaningful conversations. Our film not only tells a story that needs to be heard but also invites viewers to look beyond the headlines and understand the human impact of such incidents.
What is your work inspired by?
My work is deeply inspired by human resilience, diversity, and the power of community. Having faced my own challenges, I understand the strength it takes to overcome adversity. I want to create art and enterprises that reflect this resilience while offering hope and inspiration to others. I am also inspired by the stories of everyday changemakers, people who refuse to give up and who inspire progress through their actions.
What have you learned from collaborating with global platforms like Netflix?
Collaborating with platforms like Netflix has been an incredible experience. It has reinforced the importance of storytelling that transcends borders and cultures. I’ve learned the value of balancing creative integrity with understanding audience preferences on a global scale. Additionally, these collaborations have emphasised the power of representation and how diverse stories can create a more inclusive and empathetic world.
If you could change one thing about your industry, what would it be and why?
If I could change one thing, it would be increasing accessibility and opportunities for underrepresented talent. There’s immense untapped potential in voices that often go unheard due to systemic barriers. By creating more inclusive pathways, we can enrich the industry with authentic perspectives and diverse stories that truly resonate with global audiences.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years from now?
In 10 years, I envision Ambasada Group as a global leader in film production and social enterprise, with a legacy of empowering changemakers and creating transformative stories. Personally, I see myself continuing to mentor young talent, championing diversity and inclusion, and using storytelling as a vehicle for change. Most importantly, I hope to inspire my son to carry forward a legacy of resilience, creativity, and compassion.
