ChatGPT by OpenAI, Microsoft Bing, Microsoft Copilot, Google Bard: They were not the first, and they are not going to be the last Artificial Intelligence tools. But the wave caused by ChatGPT has moved this space forever. It is not anymore about ChatGPT. Hundreds of other applications have surfaced which try to offer a value proposition using the available AI technology. The question is, what should professionals and businesses do about it?
What Is Going On With ChatGPT?
ChatGPT has been improving constantly as it released its newer versions available to the public (for free) and an even newer version to its plus subscribers ($20 per month). In addition, OpenAI has released ChatGPT plugins, which are tools using ChatGPT and external applications combined to give additional possibilities. As one of the initial use cases, OpenAI has created a browsing plugin, an experimental model that knows when and how to browse the internet, and a code interpreter, an experimental model that can use Python, handle uploads and downloads. In addition, there are already tens of applications which have a ChatGPT plugin.
What Happened With Google Bard?
Google introduced Bard in a hasty reaction to the waves caused by introduction of ChatGPT by OpenAI. Since then, Bard has becoming available in more than hundred eighty countries, but not the European Union. “The 450 million people living in the European Union are still unable to access Bard, or any of the company's other generative AI technologies. It is a move that has surprised lawmakers, and even Google won't say why it's holding back.”
What About Microsoft Copilot?
Microsoft did introduce the new Bing search engine, incorporating OpenAI technology into it enhancing the search experience in a number of ways. In addition, Microsoft has introduced Microsoft 365 Copilot, its artificial intelligence assistant feature for Microsoft 365 applications and services.
What Else Is Out There?
There are many other AI applications which have come out or got traction since the market move created by ChatGPT. There is now an AI solution for every use case you can imagine. From text, image, video generation and modification, to complete solutions for a business, all enabled by AI technologies like OpenAI.
What Should Professionals And Businesses Do About ChatGPT And Other AI Tools?
There has been a lot of movement in the market over three months since I wrote my previous article. You have a problem with all this AI. Then wait until you are wiped off the professional market or your business. It is not anymore about what can professionals, and companies do to deal with these technologies. It has become a must, to learn about the uses of AI technology in your professional domain and in your business. Language skills, Computer skills, Internet skill, and now AI skills. Over a few years, you will not be considered literate as a professional, if you do not know, use, and create value using the relevant AI tools. Learning about the latest generic as well as special AI tools, enabling your greater creativity, productivity, and impact is a must for every professional and every business.
I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences of using AI tools. If interested, please share your thoughts.
