How To Write A SEO-Optimized Article

Written by: Kristina S Milosevic, Guest Writer

When it comes to writing for search engines and readers, writing SEO articles with keywords requires creativity and knowledge. Here’s how to write a high quality SEO article in 4 easy steps:

Step 1- Do you really know who you are writing for?

Understanding this is crucial before you write. When writing a SEO article or any article, you need to think like a journalist.

Who are my readers?

What are they interested in finding out?

What problems do they need to solve?

How can I interest them to accept my solution?

What language do they speak? (Are they professionals, academicians, or common people on the street, etc)

A great way to stay focused is to gather relevant information. All you need to do is to record some basic demographic information such as age, location, income, education, marital status, social status, etc. Once you understand who you are writing for, this process will be effortless.

Step 2 - Profitable keyword research is the key to conversion

Keywords, keywords and more keywords! This is crucial for search engine optimization. The point is to find out the exact words that surfers use to find your site. What you think your audience is typing in to find you, is completely different from what they actually type into the search box.

For example, let's say you're a nutritionist looking for potential clients. You may think that people are looking for key words like "nutritionist", "personal nutritionist". These are all good keywords. But in reality, your best potential client is actually looking for key terms like "healthy living", "how to lose weight", "nutrition tips", just to name a few.

They don't know yet that they need a fitness trainer. In fact, it is your job to provide them with enough information to show them that you are the solution. That's why you have to think like a linguist and rummage through the psyche of your best potential client. Whatever words your potential customer uses to find your products and services; these are the exact words you should use in your SEO articles and all your advertising attempts.

Keyword research is easy to understand, so it's important to check your keyword profitability before adding it to your keyword list. You need to find out which keywords are in low demand but have a high conversion rate.

In SEO language, this is known as long keywords. Simply put, a keyword that doesn't bring much traffic to your site, but what it does is to convert because it's an ultra-specific keyword phrase. People who use long keywords usually want to get the job done. And that means more money for you. So add in a mix of long and plain keywords to increase website traffic.

Step 3 - Write a catchy title that will interest your reader to learn more

In the SEO world, the Title tag is considered one of the most important tags. Why? Because it tells both readers and search engines what the site is about. Of course, it's important to include your keyword in the title because of the search engine. Moreover, you also want to write a catchy title that entices your reader to look at the rest of your article.

Studies have shown that approximately 80% of people first read the headlines and then glance at the rest of the page to see if they are interested. Therefore, keep this in mind when writing those titles to capture their interest. There are so many formulas for writing articles that will help you create compelling titles.

Step 4- Create the structure of your SEO article for a better reader experience

Writing for the web is different from writing for the press. However, some basic rules still apply:

  • Good grammar and spelling

  • Think of a striking title

  • Write subtitles to organize the content

Of course, when it comes to SEO articles with keywords, you want to strategically place your keywords in the body of the article.

At this point, the frequency or density of keywords comes into play. Simply put, word density is the number of times a keyword appears in your article. There are a number of tools online that help you find the right number of keywords on a page.

Always keep in mind the ultimate goal when writing for your audience.

When writing your SEO articles, always think of the reader first. Yes, it is important that you are noticed by search engines. But please don't write annoying articles cluttered with keywords for high rankings. Doing this, will be a disservice to your customers. The goal is to write a well-composed article that your reader will want to share, print, or bookmark for future reference. If you are ready to start increasing your website targeted traffic and convert those visitors into loyal paying customers, start writing SEO articles with keywords to make money today!
