What is a Scarcity Mindset?


We live in a time where the world is at our fingertips. There are more resources and opportunities now than ever before to discover, create and dream. There’s never been a better time to be an entrepreneur. With such an abundance of resources, it would follow logic that we would naturally live in the mindset and energy of abundance, yet people still live month to month, not earning the income they desire and only seeing problems.


This is because most people have been conditioned to have a scarcity mindset, they allow their mindset to create a reality of scarcity, limitation, and lack.


A scarcity mindset is a state of mind that is rooted in fear and lack. It's the belief that there is never enough to go around, that resources are limited, and life is meant to be a struggle. The focus is always on what they don’t have. This mindset can manifest in various aspects of life, including finances, relationships, and careers, which can lead to feelings of fear, anxiety, stress, procrastination, and overwhelm.


The good news is, you don’t need to wait for circumstances to change in order to feel differently. Releasing a scarcity mindset requires shifting your perspective from fear and lack to an abundance mindset, believing that there is always enough, and recognising that there are infinite possibilities available to you.


The Impact of a Scarcity Mindset in Your Business


A scarcity mindset can have a significant impact on your business. It can lead to feeling burnt out and overwhelmed, as you struggle to make ends meet and keep up with the demands of your clients. You might find yourself taking on too many clients or undercharging for your services because you fear that there won't be enough clients to go around.


You might avoid taking risks or investing in yourself because you fear that you'll lose what money you have or you won’t make back the investment which creates and perpetuates a cycle of lack and limitation, struggle and sacrifice which holds you back and leads to missed opportunities and limited growth.

Ultimately, a scarcity mindset can hold you back from achieving your full potential. Instead of living your best life, you end up settling for a life less than you deserve.


For example, I have clients coming to me, wondering if they can make 6-figures and beyond because they think it only happens to other people. They want more but they don’t know if it’s possible for them.


5 Tips to Activating an Abundance Mindset


The mindset and energy of lack and limitation is the complete opposite of freedom and abundance and you can’t create an abundant life, when you are feeling poor.


If you want a more fulfilling and abundant life, you have to start FEELING abundant now. If you want more money, you have to feel rich long before the money shows up:- because if you speak, feel and act from a place of lack and never enough, you can expect more of the same. If you feel abundant, you will attract abundance in every area of your life.


Cultivating an abundance mindset takes commitment and practice and the right tools and strategies, but first, you have to choose abundance. You have to decide that you are worthy and you have to decide that what you desire is possible for you.


Here are some tips to get you started:


1. Mind Your Thoughts


The human mind goes through 65,000 thoughts every day and these thoughts dictate our perspective and our behaviour and unconsciously run our lives.


The first step here:- is awareness. Pay attention to what is going on inside your head. What thoughts monopolise your time? Are they positive or negative?


When you take the time to notice the fears, stories, patterns, and limiting beliefs your subconscious reel is constantly playing for you, you can start to rewire your thoughts and adopt more empowering beliefs.


In the personal development industry, there tends to be an unrealistic narrative that you have to be happy and positive ALL the time but this is simply not possible. You will experience bad days and situations will trigger you but if you are aware of your thoughts, you have the power to catch the negative thoughts and choose the next thought, choose how you want to think and feel instead.


2. Practice Gratitude


One of the easiest and fastest ways to start feeling abundant is by practicing gratitude on a daily basis.


Recognising the good in your life and acknowledging the blessings that you have leads to feelings of gratitude which leads to a deeper appreciation of what you already have. When you appreciate what you already have in your life, you start feeling good about yourself and you raise your frequency to receive more abundance.


You begin to see the opportunities and possibilities that are available to you, rather than focusing on what you don't have.


Take time each day to focus on the abundance that surrounds you, whether it's your morning coffee or the love and support of your family and friends, or the opportunities that are available to you.


3. Visualise Your Goals and Dreams.


Visualising your future is a powerful way to opening yourself up to new possibilities. You need to get crystal clear on what you really want and make time every day, to visualise the life and business that you desire. Imagine yourself achieving your goals and living a life of freedom, abundance, and purpose.


When you visualise your goals, you step into a higher frequency and begin to manifest them into reality. To supercharge your visualisation, add emotions by imagining how it would feel to achieve all your goals. You are training your body and mind by practicing living in abundance and you will begin to take aligned action towards achieving it.


4. Surround Yourself with Positive and Supportive People.


Be mindful about who you spend your time with. Do the people around you tear you down or lift you up? Can you eliminate any toxic relationships or minimise the time you spend with certain people?


Start seeking out mentors, friends, and peers who have an abundance mindset and who will believe in you and your vision for your business. Find your tribe who will celebrate your wins and encourage you to be the best possible version of yourself. This might be an online community, a networking group or mastermind group.


5. Step Out of Your Comfort Zone


Take risks and try new things. One of the biggest mistakes you can make is to allow countless opportunities to pass you by because you don’t want to get out of your comfort zone.


Staying small won’t help you grow and doesn’t challenge you to reach your full potential. If you want to succeed, grow your business, or achieve your goals, this might be investing in yourself or your business. Whether it's hiring a coach, investing in a new website, or trying something new, be willing to take the leap and trust that everything is working out for you, not to you.


Remember that failure is a natural part of the process and that it's an opportunity to learn and grow.


Self-care in Maintaining an Abundance Mindset


Self-care is essential for maintaining an abundance mindset. It's taking care of yourself physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally, and acknowledging your needs along the way. When you practice self-care, you create a strong foundation for abundance and personal growth.


Self-care can take many forms, from exercise and healthy eating to meditation and journaling. It's about identifying the practices that work best for you and incorporating them into your daily routine.


Adopting and abundance mindset and committing to healing your resistance to abundance is essential if you want to create a life and business that is fulfilling and prosperous. It’s about being open and willing to see things differently and when you shift your perception from lack to abundance, you can start working on any area of your life in need of healing transformation.
