How To Be An Expert In Your Makeup Artist Business

Executive Contributors at Brainz Magazine are handpicked and invited to contribute because of their knowledge and valuable insight within their area of expertise.

If you have expertise in a certain field, it can be overwhelming to figure out how to monetise it. It can be difficult to package your knowledge and create an offer that people are willing to substantially pay for. Your expertise is your most valuable asset in your business and you do not have to just give it away for free any long. With the right strategies, you can generate demand and charge properly for your expertise.

Not being able to leverage your expertise makes it impossible to grow your business and build a sustainable career as a makeup artist. You are unable to capitalise on the knowledge and skills you have worked hard to cultivate and develop over the years.

It is hard to find the right balance between charging for your services as a makeup artist and giving away your expertise for free, especially when we naturally want to help our clients. At the same time, you do not want to be taken advantage of, but you also need to educate your clients with the true value of your work.

Without charging properly for your expertise, you run the risk of being viewed as a commodity instead of an expert. As a result, you will not have enough resources to invest in or grow your business. Instead, you will continue to keep ‘chasing clients’ and filling your diary. This keeps you in the ‘commodity’ mode and that may be why you are feeling stuck. This is when your business plateau’s and you cannot seem to rise above earning a certain level of income- does this sound familiar?

Being stuck with this model of charging for products and services, places you slap in the middle of the competitive market, where all the other makeup artists are, competing on price, service/products, even discounts and offers, all of this lowers YOUR value and keeps you in this market.

The competition is fierce and clients are more informed than ever and demanding much more too! Being a makeup artist is extremely competitive, and without differentiating yourself, you can easily be seen as just another commodity. Losing out on potential high paying clients if you cannot step out of this competitive market and stand out from the crowd.

You need to find a way to make your services more attractive by separating yourself from competitors. Stop being just another commodity and start investing in your expertise. Use your skills to create your niche and set you apart from the competition, this is where you need to be NOW! In this market, where there is no other competition, it will also help you thrive, attract new clients easily and get known as the authority in your niche.

But if you have a real empathy to help your client on a much deeper level, a level that will change them and their lives forever. You are onto a winning, successful business where you only have to work with 2 or 3 clients per week and earn the same as you would in two months that you may earn in a whole year. Without the right strategy, you can easily become lost in the crowd and miss out on new potential clients, using your niche to your full advantage and being known as the expert.

How can you use your expertise to create and sell your niche?
