Throughout our lives we are often asked to draw upon our strength and yet this has many different meanings how do we truly know how we can use our strength? Let’s be honest strength can be used for both good and for corrupt!
When we look at strength as a positive attribute it can help propel you through the toughest of times in your life. It can help each of us rise to the occasion and working through situations that have been presented to us in life. Take a moment and look back in your life to the part when you think how the heck did I even get through that?
One of those times was not that long ago for me. You could say it was almost rock bottom. The year 2019 was the most successful in my business. I had a vision and it was being realized. Everything I touched was like gold. In fact, I grew so quickly that I had moved spaces twice in one year! By the end of 2019, I had a 3700 square foot store on Main Street in the small rural town I lived in. I had two staff members and approximately 20 women enrolled in my signature programs. This year I had brought my dream of a Harry Potter-type school into a physical reality!
The following year the whole world changed. I came back from my winter break refreshed and ready for another killer year, yet something was off. The energy had shifted. My staff were not who I had first thought, people started to drop out of my programs, and by February my dream was crumbling around me! Wow, how the universe can at the same time be guiding me and kicking me in the butt.
It’s no lie everything works as it should. I had only signed a six-month lease which was ending in February. After long discussions with my most supportive husband, the decision was put out to the universe that if I could cover the rent at the end of the month I would stay and if not I shut down the store. You guessed it I couldn’t cover the rent. By the end of February, a floodgate of events unfolded which lead me to file for bankruptcy which was just the tip of the iceberg. Mentally, physically, and spiritually I was broken. Little did I know this was only the beginning as the world entered a pandemic! The journey was not easy however, that inner strength allowed me to rise to the occasion.
There is always a flip side to even something as seemingly positive as strength. In our world, we live under universal laws. They will show up in all cultures, religions, and parts of the world. There is the universal law of opposites, in everything there is an equal opposite; harmony and disharmony, night and day, good and bad, rich and poor, the list goes on. Strength can be used to overcome our biggest adversities. Some may use their strength to dictate situations to their advantage in a way in which manipulates others.
False sense of grandeur can lead some people to walk with their faces heading to the sun and ignore the shadow that is behind them. With an inflated ego, it is possible for people not to see when it is time to let go of their dream. Instead, they may use their strength to force upon others their way of thinking and doing. If you poke the lion and question their motives you will feel the wrath of their roar leading you to question your own sanity.
As you can see strength can unite and divide you!
Now what? How do you use your strength to rise to the occasion? To provide and nurture yourself and others?
1. Be honest!
When situations arise in your life that requires you to draw on your strength begin by taking an honest look at the path that needs to be taken. You will usually find yourself at a crossroads and a decision needs to be taken. It is true that you never know how far away you are from the pot of gold. Do you need to persevere and find the backbone to continue? It may mean that you are presented with the knowledge that it is time to walk away. You know deep down that you have done all you could have and yet it is time to move to something else.
2. Allow time!
For you to use your strength to the fullest you need to allow yourself some time. Often when we think too hard for solutions using our frontal cortex we often find ourselves struggling to see the woods from the trees. Take a break and take your focus of the problem that has presented itself to you. This can be as simple as going out for a hike, to spending time with family, or taking a few days just to yourself. When we move from a place of constant logical thinking and drop to the heart space the answer will be there, it always has been.
3. Create stability!
What do you have control of in this situation? Often we will put all our thought and energy into the part of the situation that we have no control over. You have been honest and taken some time. Now you can create a plan in the area you do have control over. You may need to schedule in some extra hours for self-care, exercise, for family, or to make extra cash. Often you hear people say that they do not have enough time in the day. I am here to tell you that we all have the same hours in the day. As humans, we prioritize what is important and spend our time according to this. Whether that be on Netflix, at the gym, with family, or on our business. When you are ready the time you need is always available to you.
4. Trust!
The wheel is always turning! What do I mean by this? As someone who is connected to the cycles of the earth and who lives by the lunar cycles, I am here to reassure you that wherever you are right now everything is changing. You may not feel it as this is your life and you are living it. You cannot as easily look into your life with eyes that are objective. However, just as the day becomes the night and then dawns a new day again, the lunar cycle goes from the dark moon to the full moon shining its light, and the seasons from winter to summer, your life is changing even as you read this article.
As I closed my store franticly parting with my dream amidst the looming shut down of the country I lived in. Full of fear of what was going to happen to mankind, my business, and my financial stability, I could not see the future. I had been honest with myself and admitted that this was not the path I was supposed to be walking. Then I was given time, time from lockdowns and moving my business home-based and online. I could not control anything that was happening outside and focused on my business. Piecing together who I was and what I stood for. Trusting the lessons that came from the ladies who parted ways, the clearing of negative energy surrounding finances and abundance. Learning to trust, trust that I was exactly where I was supposed to be. That everything in my world was panning out as the universe had designed, just for me.
What is the lesson from our strength? That you must not be blinded by the grandiose power of the ego. It is true that we must come from a space of perseverance. It is also true that at times our biggest failures are our biggest lessons. When we take some time to allow the universe to support us we will see that there is a bigger plan. We will understand that we can’t always see what’s in store for us as it’s bigger than we could even imagine at this moment in time!
