So, you are ready to set new goals. That means you are aspiring to change, to go for something you have not yet been able or willing to achieve. Great.
Did you know why so many do not achieve their desired outcomes? It is because if you aspire to something greater than where you are or who you are right now, you need to expand your capacity for more! Why? Because you have a set capacity of allowing due to your underlying limiting beliefs and false stories.
Let’s put it this way. A hotel room has an aircon unit within each room, all set to a maximum temperature. You can go lower in temperature; however, you cannot set that temperature dial higher than where it is capped. No matter how much you want to or how many times you set the dial higher, it will always return to its preset setting. The same if you have a litre of water and you attempt to pour that water into a half a litre container. It simply cannot hold the full litre unless you use a larger container capable of holding that volume of water.
Taking this fact into account, if you set your goal to earn more than you ever have before, yet your capacity is set lower; you will not achieve the higher amount. Or, if you do, you will create unconscious reasons to have that extra spillover, for example, unexpected bills. I hear this all the time, “as soon as I get ahead, there is always something to take my money. I just don’t ever seem to be able to get ahead.”
It is not merely money you have a set capacity for, it is all areas of your life. Professional, financial, health and wellbeing and relationships. If you have a set capacity for love within your life and you reach that capacity, then you have reached your tipping point. This is where you either sabotage, for example starting an argument in order to ‘reset’ back to your current capacity; or you bring awareness to the situation and consciously choose to understand what is really taking place and choose a different perspective, response and action. Therefore expanding your current capacity.
A great way to discover your current capacity is to reflect upon your current situation in each given area~
Ask yourself the power question. What are the reoccurring patterns? For example, every time you go for a promotion, someone else gets it. Or, every time you meet a great potential partner, they eventually betray you. Just as things are going well, it upends.
What language and statements do you use around each given area that reflect your limiting beliefs? For example, “I always just have enough.” This belief sets your capacity to ensure that you always just have enough.
Find out your relationship with each area by writing a letter as though you are writing to a person. For example, dear money… and continue writing from the beginning of the relationship to the present. You will be amazed at what is revealed. Once completed, put it to one side and revisit the next day to view with fresh eyes. Highlight any limiting sentences or words you have used. Anything that limits or disconnects you from the ‘relationship’ Ask someone else to go over it. Someone who will not pass judgement.
Now get clear on how that expanded capacity will serve you in all the different areas of your life. What is the gift in achieving it? How will it make you feel? Firing up the feeling is very important. Mindset alone is not enough.
Visualize your current capacity and visually expand it, increasing your vessel and then vision yourself having already achieved and received your desired outcome. Use imagery that works for you.
You need mindset, purpose and feeling. This equals the possibility, drive, and overall success.
You cannot change what you are not aware of!
Armed with this insight and understanding you can now realign your mindset by setting your intention to greater than. In other words, a more expanded way of speaking and relating.
The limiting words and beliefs are what I call “below the line.” The empowered words and statements are “above the line.” Small vessel to increased vessel.
Now, this is important. Do not expect to go from a small capacity to a massive capacity. Your underlying belief system will not allow it. Set your intention to expand to where your comfort zone is, the place where you feel you can achieve that outcome. Then, push a little past it. For example, if you currently earn fifty thousand a year and feel that upping it to sixty thousand is doable, yet seventy thousand completely terrifies you, then set your capacity for more at sixty-eight thousand. It just challenges and stretches you yet does not terrify you. The same as if shedding weight is your goal. You may need to say goodbye to thirty kilograms yet the thought of that completely overwhelms you and two kilograms seems easy, then set your capacity for five kilograms, once achieved increase it and eventually, you will have said farewell to the full thirty.
Each time you expand your capacity for more and achieve your outcome, you will be able to increase your capacity again. Each time pushing past your current comfort zone and into the challenge zone. You will learn how powerful and exhilarating it is to get comfortable with feeling uncomfortable yet not utterly terrified.
Here is what pulls it all together.
You are worthy. You came into this world worthy. Anything you align to that says otherwise, is a false story and belief. Put it in the passenger seat and grab hold of the wheel and drive your life. One gear increases at a time.
