Introduce yourself! Please tell us about you and your life, so we can get to know you better.
I currently live in the foothills of the mountains in Washington between Seattle and Vancouver, B.C., surrounded by the beauty of nature. I am originally from here in the Pacific Northwest, but I lived in Arizona for 6 years to go to school, which is where my father’s side of the family is from as members of the White Mountain Apache tribe. I studied Psychology and Sociology at Northern Arizona University, before moving back to the Northwest to study Clinical Psychology in Oregon at Pacific University.
I have always been highly empathic, and from a very young age was someone who people gravitated to as a listening ear. In high school, when a fellow student tragically passed away in an accident, my teachers saw how people were coming to me for support and asked me to be a peer counselor, so becoming a therapist was a natural fit. My greatest joy and purpose lie in helping others to find their voice, become their best selves, create a life they love, and pass those lessons on to the next generation.
In addition to my professional fulfillment, I enjoy volunteering in my community, including giving time and resources to organizations supporting domestic violence and cancer survivors in honor of my mother. As a military spouse of over 20 years, supporting veteran’s causes is also very close to my heart. Having grown up in nature, I love spending time outdoors and with my fur babies. I’m a rescue Basset Hound mom, and I also recently rescued a cat from the wild after an injury and nursed him back to health this past year. On my time away from work, I enjoy traveling with my family in search of great food, music, and culture.
What inspired you to create Psyched Up Success LLC?
I founded my private mental wellness and behavioral health practice, Psyched Up Success, in 2019. Over the previous 20 years, I had worked with many challenging and emotionally taxing cases throughout my career, first working with families dealing with trauma such as abuse and custody issues, then with teens in after school programs and group homes, and finally with people dealing with drug and alcohol addiction. And for 18 years I also had built a separate and very successful coaching and consulting business for entrepreneurs, alongside my therapeutic career. But then in 2017 I was injured in a major car accident where I was hit by a commercial truck driver who was distracted and failed to stop in traffic. My physical injuries, followed by a year of challenges and loss in my family, caused me to realize that I was burned out and unable to continue working at the pace I had previously kept up for so many years. So, I reevaluated my life and work, and made the decision in 2018 to create a major lifestyle shift and start to take care of myself and my family first, so that I could show up as my best for the clients that I loved to serve the most.
A few pieces of the puzzle came together for me to start Psyched Up Success so that I could not only recover from my own burnout but prevent it in the future and do the work that I was so passionate about at the same time. I became a Hypnotherapist when I was in grad school in 2001, as I wanted to help my clients get to the root cause of the issues they were dealing with and help them create positive change and get results as quickly as possible from our work together. And I knew that I loved working with people who wanted to show up, do the work, and invest in themselves and their personal and professional growth. I had also always said I wanted to start my own private practice when I turned 40, which just happened to be that same year. So, I chose to combine my skills as a Hypnotherapist and coach, to work virtually with clients to work holistically to help guide them in healing from the core issues I was seeing in my clients deal with which were primarily the effects of trauma, anxiety, burnout, and other forms of neurodivergence so they could heal from past hurts and create more peace, joy, and harmony in their lives.
The name Psyched Up Success came from the unique combination of my background in Social and Clinical Psychology with my experience and skills as a Transpersonal Wellness and Business Coach. I wanted to infuse psychology into the concept of success, with an emphasis on how important it is for each of us to create our own definition of success based on our values, strengths, talents, and how our brain works best as an individual. I believe that all too often, we focus on comparison and try to fit into someone else’s definition of what success looks like and how they got there, rather than being who we authentically are. So, I help my clients understand the psychology behind how they work best, and leverage that to create success that is truly their own.
Can you provide an overview of the services or resources offered through your business? How do these offerings contribute to the success and well-being of your audience?
I offer individual behavioral health and mental wellness services for clients of all ages to help them tap into the power of their subconscious mind and access their inner wisdom to heal from their challenges and build healthy habits, so they can have greater emotional regulation, fully embrace themselves as individuals, build their self-confidence and self-esteem, and create their own definition of success. I utilize tools including client-centered hypnotherapy, somatic experiencing, meditation and mindfulness techniques, and transpersonal wellness coaching to help them create real and lasting change in their lives.
In addition to my individual sessions, I also offer a group guided self-hypnosis program called The Clarity Collective which includes access to my entire library of guided hypnosis recordings, which are like guided meditations with the added benefit of doing deeper inner healing work around emotional regulation, success, and health and well-being. Along with my group program, I also have online courses for burnout recovery and prevention as well as increasing emotional intelligence.
And for families, I am an accredited consultant for The Goulding Method® of Sleeptalk™, which is a program where I empower parents to affect positive change in their home by teaching them a simple, safe, and effective approach to supporting their children’s well-being by building their self-esteem, confidence, secure attachment, and emotional strength and resilience. And in turn, I have found that this method can be extremely helpful and supportive for parents’ growth and healing as well, helping them form more secure attachments and develop greater emotional intelligence and communication for themselves as well as their children and teens.
I work virtually with my clients, which I have found to be very helpful in the work that I do as I am not only able to reach more people, but it also reduces the stress and anxiety of taking extra time away from work or home and being in an unfamiliar space for what can often be emotional work. Plus, when someone is in their own comfortable space, they are more likely to operate in the way that they do naturally, and therefore doing work to change habits and patterns can be even more effective.
Who is your target audience, and how do you tailor your content or services to meet their needs?
The clients I am most passionate about working with are busy professionals trying to juggle all the things in their lives. They have careers, romantic relationships, are caregivers to children, parents and/or pets, and are trying to do it all while maintaining health and happiness as individuals. In the fast-paced world we live in, burnout has become an all-too-common experience, and often happens when we try to do everything for everyone else at the expense of our own well-being. We take outside pressures and expectations and turn them inward, creating unhealthy habits and patterns in the process. We can’t separate the pieces of who we are, so the work that I do is tailored to each of my clients as individuals and treats them as whole people. So instead of trying to fix each of my clients into one box, I have many tools and resources that I choose from to find the solutions that are the best fit for each unique individual.
What are your plans for the future of Psyched Up Success LLC? Are there new initiatives, events, or content releases that your audience can anticipate?
I am currently working on some very exciting new collaborations in 2024 that further my mission of helping my clients to build greater emotional strength, resilience, and intelligence so they can create true work-life harmony and their own definition of success in all areas of their lives. I will be releasing more information on my social media channels, as well as on YouTube, so I invite the audience to connect with me and stay tuned!
