What has been your journey to working professionally in this space?

I grew up in a relatively orthodox family, visiting the doctor when sick, with my stepfather owning the local pharmacy. However, from a very young age, I was fascinated by natural and holistic forms of healing. My Mum had a period of sickness with severe chronic fatigue syndrome and was forced to investigate alternative health methods to help her through that. She used to take me along to a reflexologist, and I would bombard her with questions, leaving with a sense that this would one day likely be my path.

I was a conscientious and committed student, with a side of complex perfectionism and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Despite being dux of several grades and excelling in most areas of school, I became a little lost following year 12 and decided a gap year was best for me at the time. I was considering studying allied health, particularly physiotherapy, but didn’t want to move away from my family, leading to the idea of nursing. It seemed to encompass many of my interests and attributes while providing a strong base for future endeavours in the health field. For nearly 15 years, I have worked as a registered nurse in a range of settings. My empathy and natural healer tendencies have outshone my clinical skills. I am grateful for this journey, as it is an important part of the puzzle of who I am as a practitioner.

I began studying Naturopathy in 2011, and to this day, it still fascinates me that there is this whole other side of medicine that much of Western society does not value or completely understand despite it being the foundation of our medical system today. I have dabbled in IV nutrient therapy administration for an integrative doctor, community nursing, and general emergency care. Over the years, I have made many amazing connections and am grateful for my professional network.

My personal story is the main factor that has likely led me to where I am right now. Without going too deep, a mix of childhood trauma, many life challenges in adulthood, and 'healing myself' from the depths of clinical depression and anxiety have been a catalyst for my passion to help others realize that they do not have to be defined by what has happened to them.

Since 2020, I have felt very guided to step into my purpose. It is difficult to articulate in words, but it felt like whatever I needed to do next was presented to me in different ways, with an inner knowing that it was what I needed to pursue. Speaking to other healers and practitioners, this has been a common theme during this period.

My husband and I participated in a program called "Thinking into Results." We thought we were signing up for a business coaching program, but little did we know the profound effect it would have on our lives. Delivered by a wonderful mentor, Rachael Downie, the program presented Bob Proctor’s teachings in mindset, manifestation, universal laws, paradigms, goal setting, and the power of the subconscious mind. This program single-handedly solved almost all my longstanding struggles, and quantum leaped us into a new reality, giving us confidence in our abilities to create the exact life we wanted. Fascinated by this material, I began a Mindset Coaching certification under Lara Young from the Mindset Coach Academy (MCA). Knowing this material and teaching it to others are two different things, and this course has given me the tools and techniques to do just that.

Combining MCA with my previous studies in meditation teaching, holistic counselling, mindfulness facilitation, and more recently health and wellness coaching and energy medicine, I can now put together signature programs and individualized support in a holistic and comprehensive way.

I feel my journey is a vital part of me as a practitioner because it embodies the transformative power of healing and reflects my dedication to understanding and integrating the mind, body, and soul. This is essential in guiding others towards balance, health, and happiness.

"The healer's journey is a path of self-discovery and service, where the transformation of one's own light illuminates the way for others."

What is your approach?

I take a holistic approach to helping individuals achieve their goals and live their best life. I believe in nurturing the mind, body and soul for overall wellbeing and success. I utilise coaching techniques with the aim to harmonize positive shifts in mindset with physical and spiritual practices to promote emotional balance, personal growth and self-discovery. My mission is to inspire clients to adopt a proactive and mindful approach to life, helping them overcome obstacles and live a healthy and purposeful life.

Whether you are feeling overwhelmed by stress, struggling with illness, or finding yourself stuck in life? I am here to help you navigate these challenges and embark on a journey towards healing and happiness. I believe in addressing the root causes of your concerns while honouring the interconnectedness of your mind, body and soul. My approach combines coaching, counselling and energy medicine to empower people to overcome obstacles and thrive in all areas of their life.

“The answers are within you, sometimes you just need a little help to find them.”

Do you have a niche?

My niche is in stress management and conditions aggravated by stress. In today’s fast paced world, it is crucial to recognise and address chronic stress due to its significant impact on health and wellbeing.

Mind-body medicine, which emphasizes the connection between mental and physical health, offers effective strategies for managing stress through techniques like meditation and hypnosis. These practices help achieve relaxation and mental clarity, counteracting stress's harmful effects. The Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA) axis is crucial in the body's stress response. It involves the release of hormones like cortisol, which, when chronically elevated, can lead to various health issues, including anxiety, depression, and immune dysfunction.

Understanding and managing the HPA axis is vital for effective stress management. Addressing stress through lifestyle changes such as balanced nutrition, regular exercise, and adequate sleep can support adrenal health and overall well-being. Hypnosis and meditation are powerful tools that I utilise in my practice. Hypnosis, through focused attention, can change stress-related thinking patterns, while meditation fosters relaxation and mental clarity. Both techniques reduce stress markers like blood pressure and cortisol levels, promoting emotional balance. Incorporating mind-body techniques into a stress management routine, I believe, provides comprehensive benefits. By addressing the mind-body connection, individuals can effectively mitigate stress's adverse effects and enhance their quality of life.

How do you tailor your sessions to meet the individual needs and goals of your clients?

I tailor my sessions to meet the individual needs and goals of my clients through a detailed and thorough diagnostic process, known as the Detailed Personal Health (DPH) assessment. This assessment helps identify limiting beliefs and uncover the underlying causes of symptoms. By understanding these root issues, I can develop a personalized plan that addresses each client's unique health challenges and objectives.

My approach is highly personalized, utilizing a range of different techniques and modalities depending on the specific needs of the client. The goal is to create a comprehensive and customized healing journey that supports the client's overall well-being. Ongoing support and guidance are crucial components of my practice. I provide continuous encouragement and resources to help clients stay on track and make sustainable changes.

By empowering them to unlock their full potential, I aim to help clients tap into their inner wisdom, strength, and essence, which fosters a deeper sense of self-awareness. As a facilitator, my role is to guide and support clients through their healing process. This involves creating a safe and nurturing environment where clients feel comfortable exploring their health concerns and personal goals. I help them navigate their journey, providing tools and insights that enable them to take charge of their health and well-being. By facilitating this process, I assist clients in discovering their own inner capacities for healing and growth.

How do you navigate the intersection of science-based nursing practices and more holistic healing modalities?

There is no denying it: Western or allopathic medicine saves lives! In addition to my work as a holistic practitioner, I also spend time working in a private urgent care facility. Here, we handle a wide range of presentations, including cuts, broken bones, burns, acute illnesses and injuries, mental health related problems, cardiac events, and traumas. Our wait times are short, we have an onsite X-ray, and the care we provide is of high quality.

Navigating the intersection of conventional and holistic medicine can sometimes be challenging, but in both capacities, I strive to practice according to my values, beliefs, and ethical standards. I have always believed in and conducted my practice using an evidence-based approach. However, it can be difficult when the ‘evidence’ is always evolving. Therefore, I tend to look at a range of research sources to stay informed.

One of the biggest problems with the Western healthcare system today, as I see it is:

a) Patients wanting quick fixes.

b) Doctors being restricted by limited time with patients.

c) Insufficient emphasis on the lifestyle or environmental factors contributing to disease.

There is a whole other side of healthcare known as ‘functional medicine and integrative medicine,’ and I wish that everyone with any sort of chronic disease could have access to this. My goal is to blend these methodologies to offer comprehensive support, that addresses the root causes of imbalances and fosters long-term physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.
