Mallory McGary, Business Coach

What inspired you to start Beautifully Blooming?

I was inspired to start Beautifully Blooming while in the hospital after the birth of my son. I realized that the life I had been living had now completely changed with him being a part of the world. I was afraid I was losing who I once was as I stepped fully into my new life as a mother.

I had spent so much time building a career that it almost felt like I had to let those goals, dreams, and ambitions go. I wasn't ready to do that as I walked out the hospital doors. So, I started a business that would include my family and help us grow in new and unexpected ways as we worked toward our dreams.

I knew, at that moment, that I was not the only woman that had felt that way. I also knew that I was not alone in starting businesses and having them fail. I knew there were women, like me, who needed guidance and encouragement to turn their businesses into the success they wanted them to be.

What is the mission of your business?

The mission of my business is to help women feel empowered to have something that lights them up every day. I want women to be confident in wanting to leave the legacy that they dream of. I also want women to know that you don't have to choose between motherhood and a career path. They can have both and don't have to feel guilty for wanting both.

What have been some of the biggest challenges you've faced in building your business, and how have you overcome them?

While building my business, creating the transformation for my clients has been the hardest part. Most people, especially women, are multi-faceted, and it was hard to nail down the pieces that would lead to that ultimate transformation.

The most difficult challenge has been balancing motherhood with being an entrepreneur. I have two children under 4, who always want attention from mom. Structuring my days and to-do list makes it easier for my kids to get the attention they need from mom and to accomplish my business goals.

I learned that if I wanted to help moms who wanted to be or were entrepreneurs, I needed to be that example of what it could look like for them. Soon after, my kids were more present in the content I created, part of client calls, co-hosts to my radio show, and so much more.

Instead of trying to create walls that defined the business Mallory and the mom Mallory, I blended the two worlds together. By doing so, I have become a better example for my clients. I have become a better business owner. I have become a better mom. Overall, I have learned that there isn't an exact balance between work and life. I learned that I don't have to fit my life into my business and that my business can fit into my life. That's something that I teach my clients to do as well.

If you could change one thing about your industry, what would it be and why?

I want to change the perception that there is only "one" way to do things such as webinars, ads, funnels, quizzes, courses, 1:1 coaching, group coaching, etc. Each of these tools has a place in a business. Each person gets to define which tools are needed specifically for them.

Sometimes the coaching world gets caught up in the there's only one way to scale your business to $10k months and beyond. When that strategy could work for one business, another business may need two or three things to make it to the $10k months. But neither model is wrong. There's no right or wrong in how to set up your own business.

I got sucked into the "shiny syndrome" of the next best thing that gets you X result. I have thousands of dollars in courses, coaching packages, and freebies buried in my "course graveyard." They are things I forgot I purchased. Maybe I tested them out once or twice and never opened them again. Or it's coaches whose advice and coaching weren't helpful to me at all, for my business, so I never implemented what I learned from them.

I want to change the perception because there are great coaches for different things, even the same thing. Not one model is the same, so it's about being authentically you, being transparent, and letting people see who you are and what you are about. I want to help women set up a business with a model that is comfortable for them.

Tell us about a pivotal moment in your life that brought you to where you are today.

I had a previous business that I let go of because it wasn't the business I wanted it to be, not really authentic to who I was, and I didn't have the passion for it. It was hard to let it go, but it was the best choice.

When I got inspired to start Beautifully Blooming, I wasn't sure if I was ready to be an entrepreneur again. I took the leap and started fresh.

When I didn't reach the milestone I wanted to within the first few months, I told myself I would go another few months. After the next few months, the results didn't come in again. I pushed out my timeline again and still didn't have what I wanted.

I had the feeling of throwing in the towel and giving up on my entrepreneurial dream, but something inside me was telling me that I needed to keep going. So, I did. This experience was actually the base of my coaching of helping women find their passion in their business again. I was determined to get the results, and motivated to help other women get the results they wanted, and that's how Beautifully Blooming grew into what it is today.

"Motherhood should not be something that stops you from going for your dreams. Motherhood should be something that propels you forward into the woman that you are meant to be." -Mallory McGary

I believe, no mom has to choose who they want to be. If they want to be a business owner, mom, or both. There is no limit. Becoming an entrepreneur has helped me and my clients find that having something to call your own allows you to fill up your cup in ways you didn't imagine. But at the end of the day, you pour out all the positive energy into your family, community, friends, etc.

Mompreneurs are on the rise. Women are wanting more time, financial, and location freedom. They are now bleeding the world of motherhood with the world of individuality. The beauty being created in this space is unmatched. Every woman is beautifully blooming.
