“Tell yourself that if it’s hard, I’ll do it hard. I’m unstoppable!” – Les Brown
Les Brown always talks about talking to yourself, because it may be the only positive conversation that you have. He also has encouraged me to read more good books per month.
I am challenging myself by reading two to three books per month. I listen to motivational information daily. If your mind is not controlled by you the environment will control it for you. That is the same way that some words can lead us down the path to business and life victories.
Dedication leads to diligence and a drive for the vision and a determination to never let it go. The Diligent will win! Often in life, there are words that stand out more than other words in your business life. These are those words.
Dedication
At a baby dedication, that baby is given away spiritually with the hope that the baby’s life has a path already established for it to follow. As an adult, it can be the same? I say yes it can. When we dedicate ourselves to something we have made a life commitment to that. When it is spiritual then we feel guided by our father to guide our path or our spiritual belief. When we take that same dedication and put it into our goal, vision, and dream we have added dynamite. A stick of dynamite that will explode when filled with the gun power of our diligence, drive, and determination. Just imagine the biggest explosion that you’d ever seen or heard. You jumped when you hear it because it surprised you that much. That could be your life when you decide to become the four Ds of business victory.
The dedication that is put into your business will write the story and leave the trail for you to follow. Listening to others that have already done what you are doing or attempting to do is one of the best ways to daily bathe your mind in the saltwater of success and victory. By listening to the stories of others that have already gone where you are trying to go fills our hearts and minds with possibilities. The possibility of it’s already been done opens up so much in our mind’s eyes. When we feel and believe that we are not breaking new ground, but walking on ground that has already been broken makes it easier. Even if it has not been done then we become more dedicated to finding a way of achieving it.
One of the most important decisions that dedication helps to achieve is that quitting is not an option. Quitting is not even a thought. Why, because we have decided to make our dreams come true. And if we quit, we would never know how far we could go. Most of us want to know the answer to that unknown question. To leave here with books unwritten and stories untold would be a legend unlived. Please, pay it forward as we say to yourself by becoming your own legend.
Diligent
In Proverbs, the Good Book says, “the diligent get their desires filled or the soul of the diligent shall be made fat or even the diligent shall prosper,” depending upon the version. Whichever the case I believe it! Do you? We can live to follow our dreams and remain diligent until we achieve them. Diligent is a powerful word it comes with a blessing for those who believe it has power. Being diligent means we care and take extra care in our work and duties. The diligent take a deep dive into whatever they do.
Many times, we do not see all the hard diligent work that has gone into someone’s success. Most of us see the end result and unless we study their lives, we do not know the truth behind their success. It seems like it just happened overnight when in reality it was many years of hard focused work. Many long lonely nights when friends have moved on tired of waiting for them to hang out or party. Along the road, changes had to be made cutting old ties of those who are on the road to nowhere. And meeting new associates and friends that are on a similar path in life that we have chosen. Then we have those sharing our dreams and diligence and understand the satisfices that must be made to make it. Because without satisfice it will not happen.
Holidays may be spent writing our books or articles; or preparing for an upcoming event, or doing whatever needs to be achieved in order to reach the next level. Moving to the next level is not an easy task but a necessary and possible goal. To be diligent means doing what needs to be done when it needs to be done and how it needs to be done. The how will present itself once we start to move forward. Taking a step-by-step process will normally guide us in going forward. But it is important to have a direction and that direction comes by having clear goals and objectives that we want to make. Without a target, there is nothing to aim at or hit. That is why it is important for us to have goals.
Drive
Have you ever met anyone successful that did not have drive? That was not driven by an unknown force? That drive is in the DNA of those who are determined to succeed. Whatever they desire to do or become they seem to make it. It looks or appears to us that it was so easy. However, in reality, it was not easy. They had dreams and desires that drove them to the determined end designation or goal. Without that drive, they would have been unable to make it. Therefore, we must have drive. Without it, we can not make our goals. Do you know what is driving you? Have you thought deeply about your direction and how you intend to get there? Perhaps, we are on similar paths to success?
Being driven provides you with a tool that is necessary for you to make your desired drives come true. Without dedication, diligence, drive, and determination what paths to success are we talking about? The exciting part is that having a goal that drives you is fun. Those without any type of direction just work day in and day out without any type of purpose in mind. They have no drive other than to live day after day getting up and going to bed merely making a living. Way over half the world lives like that. But you and I know it is way more to life than just that. More to give. More to experience. More to enjoy. “Without a vision, the people perish,” a wise man from Nazareth once said. And how true that is. If we only live to work without wanting to help others besides just our families, what were you put here to do? Have you considered that or thought about that? What are your goal or purposes for your life? My purpose is to help women achieve their dreams, therefore, being a blessing to mankind. That purpose drives me. It gives me my purpose for living daily.
Determination
What comes to your mind when you hear the word determination? For me, it is an athlete or gymnast fine-tuning their bodies like a finely tuned violin or an opera singer using the voice as an instrument of perfection. All of these examples are determined to be the best. At the top of their skill level. What about you? Are you doing your best daily determined to be the best or among the best? What about your mindset? What are you filling your mind with? Good information the best information that you have available in order to upgrade your life? That is what it will take to make it in life. Without a pre-determined destination, any place will do.
I was listening to Earl Nightingale, The Strangest Secret. “If your take 100 individuals who start even at the age of 25, do you have any idea what will happen to those men by the time they’re 65? These 100 men believe they’re going to be successful... By the time they’re 65, only one will be rich, four will be financially independent, five will still be working, and 54 will be broke and depending on others for life’s necessities.”
What happened to those excited individuals? What changed in their lives over the years? We can assume most of them did not have a real plan for their lives so any road took over. Now, if we do not want that same outcome then we need to have a plan and be determined to live that plan. Determination of course is not the only word necessary in order to make it in life. But, without any plan, any words will do.
The bottom line, we need a plan, goals, objectives along with a target to aim at. What is that target? Written clear goals that will make you dedicated, provide diligence and drive and determination will help drive you to your life purpose.
