Women have another option today besides choosing between a prestigious career or the fulfillment of full-time motherhood. Today, that choice is starting a business from home.

Gone are the days you must choose to become the woman who dominates the corporate world, climbs the ladder, breaks glass ceilings at the same time during the climb you lost yourself, your health, and your window of time to start a family.

The stay-at-home mom is the nurturing force in the family who is expected to take care of the more traditional roles of the household, but along the way she lost her identity and health because her investing so much time and energy caring for everyone else around her.

April 2023, Nicole Bowman authored an article for IncFile.com ‘Home Based Business Statistics to Know Going into 2023’ where she noted women are more likely to have a home-based business then men. Over 42% women said they started their own business to pursue a passion or an opportunity they did not feel was possible before this moment in history.

Today there is a third option which is growing in popularity as increased numbers of women are choosing to start their own business at home. This has been made possible because of the internet, advancement in technology, online shopping, social media platforms and the demand for work-life balance.

Top Five Things to consider when deciding on a Home Business

These five things should be amongst your top considerations when thinking about what your business offering will be. Whether you have something to sell or a service to provide, take these suggestions to heart and you’ll be more likely to find success and inner joy.

1. Passions & Interests

The first thing to consider when choosing a business from home is your passion and interests. Starting a business that you love will not only make the work more enjoyable, but it will also keep you motivated to succeed. Besides being incredibly fulfilling it allows you to pursue your passions and create something that is your own. By using your skills and talents to make a difference in the world you can create a legacy you’re proud of.

2. Market Demand

While it is important to follow your passion, it is also crucial to ensure there is a market demand for your product or service. Conducting market research can help you identify potential customers and gauge the interest in what you have to offer. I’ve always said Trends & Timing are critical markers to be aligned with when considering a business. Make sure your business model is going to grow with the market economy to help promote growth.

3. Flexibility

One of the big advantages of running a business at home is the flexibility it offers. Look for a business that allows you to set your own schedule so you can work around family obligations. For me, I loved being home to watch my kid’s milestone moments. When I started my home business I had a 2 and 9-year-old.

My kids grew up watching me work my schedule around their carpool, school events, sports, doctors’ appointments, etc... It gave me such a sense of fulfillment and relief knowing I was home making the important decisions on how my children were raised. I was present in mind and body when my kiddos needed their mama.

4. Scalability

Another crucial factor to consider is the scalability of your business. Look for a business that has the potential for growth and expansion in the future. This will help you build a sustainable business that can generate long-term income. Being able to achieve financial independence and break free from the economic disparity in the corporate world is a sense of pride and satisfaction you can’t put a price tag on.

5. Support and Training

Starting a business from home can be daunting, but having access to support and training can make all the difference. Look for a business that offers mentorship, resources, and training to help you not only get started but a pathway for success. When you are aligned with like-minded women you can draw inspiration and energy from seeing others successful journey. Your sense of purpose and direction for your life comes much more in focus when collaborating with mentors, joy-filled and inspired women.

In conclusion, starting a business from home is a way for women to take control of life and pursue their dreams on their own terms.

The benefits of pursuing this option include connecting with like-minded women, daily flexibility, personal fulfillment, financial independence, and a sense of purpose.

If you are a woman who is looking for a way to create income while making a difference, starting a business from home may be the perfect option for you.
