To begin, can you provide us with a broad overview of your personal journey and the key milestones that have shaped you into the person you are today?
My journey into alternative medicine and holistic healing started when my eldest son, then three years old, was diagnosed with cancer while I was six months pregnant. To start, I switched my son’s diet (including my own) to all organic as a complement to his chemo treatment. Through countless prayers and a great oncology team, my son was healed, although his right kidney was removed. He has been in remission now for sixteen years. My youngest son was born healthy despite all the stress I was undergoing during that time. I thought I survived the worst until I went through a devastating divorce when I discovered my husband of 13 years had an affair. That’s when my personal transformation began. I spent years feeling lost, misaligned, and afraid. Seeking help, I consulted with three therapists, yet something was always missing, and my needs were not fully met. I found the answers through years of self-study, trial, and error.
Can you share why you became a life coach specializing in helping divorced women reclaim their power?
After rebuilding my life and the lives of my children, I felt a calling to give back, addressing the needs of divorced women who struggled to connect with traditional therapy. My goal was to teach them, as well as single moms, the way forward. I believe that happiness is a birthright and I’m determined to pay it forward by helping others become their best selves while living their best lives—mind, body, spirit, and emotion.
Your free workbook, "5 Steps to Unleash the Warrior Woman Within," seems like a valuable resource. Can you highlight a key insight or exercise from the workbook that has proven particularly transformative for your clients?
I was very intentional when I created this mindset shift workbook because, in order to transform our outer world, we must first transform our inner world. The visualization exercise in step one, “See Yourself Through the Eyes of Someone That Truly Adores You,” offers a powerful perspective shift. When it becomes challenging to love ourselves, seeing through the eyes of someone who genuinely cares provides a different lens—one rooted in love and acceptance. Clients have reported a quick and transformative impact on their self-perception. By harnessing the presence of a loving being, whether from their past or even a cherished pet, individuals can experience a profound shift in how they view themselves. This simple yet impactful exercise contributes to lasting changes in self-esteem and self-appreciation.
What advice do you have for women who may be hesitant to seek life coaching after a divorce?
For women hesitant about post-divorce life coaching, I encourage viewing it as a purposeful journey with a clear end date and the unique value it brings. Life coaching differs from ongoing therapy by focusing on forward momentum, moving from point A to point B. It's not about dwelling on problems but empowering you with actionable steps and tangible results with a distinct end date. I encourage women to view life coaching as an investment in their own well-being and personal growth. It's an opportunity to rewrite their narrative, redefine their goals, and move forward with confidence. The end date of coaching signifies not a prolonged focus on past issues but a celebration of progress and the beginning of a new, empowered chapter.
Your coaching approach appears to combine hypnotherapy and life coaching. How do these modalities work together?
The combination of hypnotherapy and life coaching is a powerful synergy in my coaching practice, especially when working with divorced women seeking profound and lasting transformations. The integration of these modalities taps into the incredible potential of the subconscious mind, expediting the healing process. I utilize a transformative modality known as QHHT—Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique. QHHT serves as a potent tool to connect with the profound wisdom within us, often referred to as The Higher Self or The Oversoul. Distinct from the conventional subconscious explored in psychology, the Subconscious (or 'SC,' as coined by its founder Dolores) in QHHT is an exceptionally aware aspect of the mind that holds comprehensive knowledge about the client.
The initial phase of this technique involves a past-life regression. Through guided visualization techniques, I facilitate a gentle transition into a light, trance-like state. This process allows clients to explore past lives, uncovering memories that predominantly contribute to the positive qualities and traits shaping their current lives. Simultaneously, it unveils negative qualities and traits, offering an opportunity to visualize and understand past challenges and negative experiences.
This exploration helps us comprehend aspects of ourselves that may pose current struggles. By bringing to light and processing this pain and negativity, we can release their mental hold on our present lives. The combination of QHHT's unique approach leading to profound insights into their larger identity in combination with life coaching enables my clients to experience a holistic and accelerated transformation. We address both the conscious and subconscious aspects of their minds, ensuring that the changes made are not only profound but also sustainable. This integrated approach empowers divorced women to not only heal from the emotional wounds of divorce and foster personal growth but also to proactively design and embrace a fulfilling future.
The unexpected end of your 13-year marriage marked a significant turning point in your life. Can you share more about the key aspects of your personal transformation during this challenging period and how it has contributed to your current role as a life coach and healer?
My greatest growth and expansion happened after my divorce when I found myself in the arena of life, facing lessons that shaped me in profound ways. Through enduring challenges, including a struggle with unconscious emotional eating that led to gaining 28 lbs in eight months, financial unpreparedness, and relying on family, friends, and community support, I emerged not just as a survivor but as a resilient and empowered woman.
In this arena, I discovered the strength that comes from vulnerability and the power of seeking help when needed. I vividly remember putting foil at the end of batteries to make them last a bit longer—a memory imprinted in my children's minds that serves as a testament to the resourcefulness born from necessity. Financial strain forced me to reach out to our church for support, an experience that was humiliating and humbling for someone like me who never asked for help. This journey of self-discovery extended to the point where I couldn't even identify simple preferences, like the color of paint I liked. Yet, in the unraveling of these challenges, I discovered a deeper connection with my own resilience, courage, tenacity, and perseverance.
These experiences have become the heart of my coaching approach. Beyond the education and training, my journey through adversity allows me to genuinely empathize with the pain and struggles of divorced women. I've been in the depths, and I've emerged with a profound understanding of what it means to hit rock bottom and rise again.
Now, as a Transformational Coach, I bring not just expertise but a warm and empowering presence. My story is one of transformation, demonstrating that even in the face of life's challenges, we can find our strength, and our voice, and emerge not just healed but empowered. My journey is a testament to the fact that we all have the capacity for resilience and transformation, and it's my mission to guide divorced women on their path to rediscovering their own power, potential, and unwavering sense of purpose.
Is there a guiding principle or philosophy that you live by, and how do you envision the impact of your experiences on the lives of those you aim to help through your coaching and healing practices?
As I navigate my coaching and healing practices, a guiding principle I hold close to my heart is the vision of creating a community of strong, resilient women who triumph over the challenges of divorce and emerge as architects of their destinies. Through personalized coaching and transformative programs, my aim is to instill a profound sense of self-awareness, guiding women to navigate the complexities of post-divorce life with strength, resilience, and an unwavering sense of purpose. I firmly believe that nothing is more powerful than a woman fully embodied and in tune with her true self.
I envision the impact of my experiences on the lives of those I aim to help as a ripple effect. Empowered women, inspired and uplifted, become catalysts for positive change in their communities. This collective journey toward self-discovery and empowerment extends beyond individual lives, contributing to a societal shift where divorced women, including single moms, are celebrated for their strength and resilience. My vision is to be a beacon of hope, a catalyst for positive change, fostering a community where each woman, having reclaimed her power, becomes an inspiration for others. Together, we aim to redefine the narrative of life after divorce, proving that through self-discovery and empowerment, every woman can craft a life on her terms—a life that is not just survived but passionately lived.
In divine perfect time, I will create a non-profit called “The Sherille Marquez Project,” which will provide free online resources, including courses and coaching sessions focused on enhancing emotional resilience and promoting overall well-being, as well as workshops covering financial literacy to equip women with the knowledge and skills necessary for financial independence. The free resources will be readily accessible worldwide, aiming to break down barriers and reach women who may face financial challenges in accessing traditional forms of support.
