What has been the driving force behind what you do?
I spent many years of my life living a mindset of limiting beliefs. I was told at an early age, around 9 years old, that “you should always keep your mouth shut because people don’t want to hear what you have to say, so just keep quiet.” That way of thinking attached itself to me as my identity.
Well, I spent many years being quiet, afraid to speak up, even though inside I wanted to add and contribute to conversations and share my ideas and opinion, but I didn’t. As a result, I was involved in wrong intimidate relationships time after time that kept me in a negative spiral for many years. Once I become aware that I was living a life by negative words of someone else I was able to break free from that kind of mindset and life.
Today, I am married to the man of my dreams and a family we adore. My husband, Jim, and I coach Christian married couples/individuals in becoming all that they desire to have in their life. Transforming their desires and dreams into a reality. To become an unstoppable force in pursuing it and never giving up.
Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
My father, Lewis Richie, has been the biggest influence and mentor in my life. He taught me godly values, integrity, character, and to give your all in what you believe. His words, his ministry, not only impacted thousands of people’s lives in his short life of 55 years on this earth but by his actions as well. His legacy still continues in the lives that has been transformed as a result. He was and will always be my hero.
I have others who has been an inspiration to me such as John Maxwell, Les Brown, and Brendon Burchard and others within my journey.
Of course, my husband is a huge inspiration to me for his constant support and encouragement in what I want to achieve both personal and business. He is a reflection of God’s love to me every day and I am blessed to share an extraordinary life together. He is my forever love.
What are 3 tips you would like to share in your expertise of helping married couples and individuals?
Be Present is such a great way to live. I don’t believe that it is the quantity of time you give but the quality of time. I have spent time with people on a casual level and they will spend a lot of time scrolling through Facebook, tik tok or some other thing on their device. I have been with people at other times and they make me feel like I am the only person on this planet. So, just because you are in a certain environment does not mean you will get the results you want if you are not intentional about it.
It is about being intentional and being present in where you are at that moment. This can be having a fun time with your spouse or friends and giving them your undivided attention.
Being present will bring more enjoyment, fulfillment, peace, focused quality time in what is going on in that moment. Sometimes we can self-sabotage our own self and bring more headaches, frustration, and stress into our lives if we allow it to. Being present can help bring that balance or harmony in your mind and life.
I absolutely love family time relaxing and enjoying life together. I soak it up and it fuels me to refresh in ways that only that time can do. It helps me to refocus and refuel in other areas that in crucial to my life as well.
Communication Skills is vital in a relationship. However, you can develop it and become effective in your communication. Effective communication is not a one sided conversation but the art of listening as well.
A lot of marriages and relationships breakdown due to the lack of willingness to work on this skill. The simplest of task or request from your spouse can turn into World War III by misunderstanding what they are trying to relay to you. Accusations start blazing and hurtful words pierce your heart and distance can start to grow if it is not acknowledged and dealt with.
Communication can be in actions such as; repeating something to make sure you have clarification on, being present and not zoning out and not hearing what the other person was actually saying, think before speaking when in conflict to make sure your words are not coming across as degrading or it’s all your fault kind of words.
Communication can bring words of love and encouragement or hurt and discouragement. It is a skill that each one of us choose every single time on how we communicate with others. Developing this skill will enhance every area of your life.
Time Management is a great tool to use. As any time of growth, you will need to become more intentional with your time. Along the way you will need to realize there will need to be changes and adjustments. Growth plus Change equals Progress. You will get to the place where your time works for you instead of you being a slave to time. You will begin to realize you can do more and enjoy more by implementing this simple tool into your life.
Being a good steward of your time will help you to have more time with your spouse creating those fun or intimate date nights or scheduling and spending time with family and friends which reflects and shows your thoughtfulness, caring and gives yourself a time to refresh. Celebrating your marriage or growth as an individual gives life perspective and purpose.
By applying time management into your life, you will be able to experience more in your life of what you absolutely truly love. Your marriage will develop into something greater than you could ever imagine in your relationship. You will be so thankful you manage your time instead of your time managing you.
