Brainz Magazine Exclusive Interview
Alistair Hawkes is an educator for humanity's evolution. As a licensed psychotherapist and wellness educator, she has taught thousands of clients, students, parents, and educators the principles of mindfulness in self-development and self-leadership. She enjoys helping others learn tools that help them increase life satisfaction, overall happiness, inner peace, well-being, and personal success.
Using the HIKE4evolution system of self-development and self-leadership she teaches students how to use their focus and concentration, how to reconnect with their innate self-leadership and their regenerative health and wellness, how to use mindfulness to balance their emotions and thinking, and how to be more personally free. Her current work is with therapists who are struggling with burnout. She teaches them the HIKE4evolution system so they can optimize their own function and share those practices with their own clients.
Dallas Hawkes was born in Provo, Utah. Dallas learned early on that relationships are the most important thing in life. He believes that although we do not all have to like each other, we must learn to get along in order for peace to unfold. However, social situations have not always been easy for him. In school he gravitated towards math and physics, eventually earning his master’s degree in Applied Mathematics. Dallas is also passionate about Martial Arts, as they have helped him create healthy boundaries and understand the importance of flexibility. At 29 Dallas learned about the value of community through the Native People in South Dakota.
He broadened his understanding of the community through the lens of corporate America during his time as a financial analyst for one of the top employee benefits brokers in the United States. Dallas’ various experiences and knowledge were effectively integrated when he began training in the use of bio/neurofeedback under Liana Mattulich, M.D. (Argentina). His work with Dr. Mattulich and the HIKE4evolution system has given him a clear, sustainable vision of how the global community can become more humane together.
Can you tell us more about your background, experience, and journey that led you to become a qualified psychotherapist and wellness educator?
Both me and my brother Dallas have been consciously working on self-development for multiple decades. We are both Sundancers in the Native American tradition and we also both gained extensive knowledge and experience with subtle energies and energy medicine through the International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine (ISSSEEM). My career as a licensed psychotherapist and Dallas’ path of studying advanced mathematics gave us the understanding we needed to make sense of the energetic and atemporal experiences we encountered through Sundancing and with ISSSEEM. ISSSEEM influenced us both greatly and working there is what inspired me to become a qualified psychotherapist and wellness educator. Both of us have also intensively studied the HIKE4evolution system in its various aspects since 2015. When we discovered how comprehensive the HIKE4evolution system is, we adopted it with complete confidence that it would be the next iteration in humanity's evolution through self-development.
Can you provide us with an overview of your business and how you deliver value to your clients?
Human Inner Keys for Evolution (HIKE) was started at the direction of the Monks of Mt. Shasta who in 1991 directed our founder, Liana Mattulich, MD (Argentina) to teach a critical mass of people who have enough awareness in specific formulas of energies to have clarity, discernment, and courage to work unconditionally for the peace of the planet. The HIKE system of self-development and optimal function helps people develop inner freedom and self-leadership which contributes to peace on the planet. The HIKE system is a conglomeration of neuroscience, behavioral health, biofeedback, neurofeedback, somatic practice, mindfulness and meditation, metaphor, imagery, and formulas for self-transformation. A Canadian company engineered unique bio/neurofeedback technology equipment specifically for this system which assists in temperature training, electrodermal response, heart-rate variability, and mono-polar EEG. Biofeedback and neurofeedback training accelerates the personal development process.
We encourage students to practice HIKE exercises daily for 3 to 7 minutes per day. Practicing daily for this short time builds willpower that very quickly produces results. When HIKE students practice these tools of power they develop their capacity for a quiet mind, focused awareness, and stillness within just 3-9 months. When practices are combined with bio/neurofeedback training students achieve results comparable to monks who meditate for 20 to 40 years (see the University of Wisconsin study on meditating monks). The practices are effective without the use of bio/neurofeedback, but the results will take longer, around three years depending on dedication.
Our classes and programs provide the formulas necessary for all levels of learning-beginner, intermediate, and advanced. The system is delivered in spirals of information that help students to develop their innate capacity for optimal function at whatever level of functioning they enter the HIKE system. It is important to Dallas and I that we meet students where they're at. Ongoing classes are available-there are various free offers, and there are paid packages of classes delivered in right-timing throughout the year depending on how deeply students want to engage with the material. The Autumn series we are currently developing is called the Force of Movement which will begin the third week of August 2023.
Your profile mentions that you have a passion for problem-solving. Can you provide an example of a complex challenge you faced in your work and how you approached finding a solution?
I do have a passion for problem-solving. I enjoy helping my students and clients develop the skills necessary to become aware of what they need on a moment-to-moment basis in regard to self-management, self-leadership, and optimal function. A problem that I have helped solve recently, is at the local mental health center here in Lakewood, Colorado. I offered a series of wellness classes to therapists at this agency in order to help them overcome burnout. Having worked as a therapist in community mental health myself, I have first-hand knowledge of the problem: therapists are working very hard to meet the needs of members in community mental health settings, while the corporate expectations of these providers are very high and often lead to overwhelm and burnout. To begin to address this problem, I worked directly with the wellness program at the mental health center in Lakewood, Colorado to organize a series of classes and execute it over four-weeks' time. The feedback I received was very positive in terms of what therapists learned, how easy the skills of the HIKE4evolution system are to learn and apply, and therapists are able to apply them on a daily basis to nurture optimal function and overcome burnout.
A problem Dallas has addressed recently is helping advanced students understand themselves, their energy, and their potential by recently developing and delivering the Force of Life series that ran from April through the end of June 2023. This series was comprised of six 3-hour classes of academic-level educational content with many of the HIKE practices (from the spirals), thought experiments, and ZOOM classroom instruction. We enjoy teaching this material together which helps us gain a broader understanding through lively discussion with students.
You describe yourself as a professional with extensive experience in your field. Can you share some highlights from your career journey, including your key accomplishments and roles held?
There have been many guiding forces that contribute to my professional expertise. One of my most important roles is the time I spent as the membership service manager at ISSSEEM, the organization I mentioned earlier. During my seven years with that non-profit organization, I was involved with a very diverse professional membership comprised of clinicians, medical doctors, and healers from around the world who came together to talk about the role that consciousness plays in healing, health, and wellness. ISSSEEM published a peer-reviewed scientific journal on alternative healing practices called Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Energetic and Informational Interactions which can be found among other prestigious publications on these topics, and while editing journal articles I absorbed a lot of very thought-provoking information.
My involvement with ISSSEEM influenced me deeply in terms of sparking an interest in consciousness, energy, healing, and optimal function. When I left ISSSEEM I finished my undergraduate studies at the California Institute of Integral Studies, and I went on to get a master's degree in somatic counseling psychology at Naropa University. Both of these schools are Buddhist-influenced educational institutions where I learned the practice and importance of mindfulness which weaves into my work with students and clients.
In 2015, Dallas and I were invited to co-chair the Council Grove Conference in Council Grove, Kansas, where we brought together some of our favorite teachers, one of whom is Liana Mattulich, the founder of the HIKE4evolution system. Liana is a medical doctor from Argentina, as well as a longtime student of Tibetan Buddhism-she, spent 12 years in three different monasteries and is also a lifelong student of Sufism, as well as Toltec teachings. Since that Council Grove conference, Dallas and I have studied intensively with Liana to receive her 50 years of wisdom and apply those principles to our own personal development, self-leadership, and optimal function. We continue our work with Liana, often on a day-to-day basis, which is an honor and privilege given that she is a living master on this planet.
Can you provide more details about the different plans you offer on your website, including the features and benefits of each plan, and how they cater to different needs or requirements of clients?
There are a number of ways students can learn HIKE material to discover their personal inner keys for evolution. The different plans that the HIKE system offers start with the spirals of information. Students of HIKE complete nine spirals of study that lead them through a personal journey of development, transformation, and transmutation. Students are encouraged to complete all nine spirals to receive the personal wisdom, experience, and results that occur through dedication and commitment.
The spirals of self-study can be purchased individually, or as a package (with a discount) on HIKE4evolution.com. Each spiral takes one month to complete and all HIKE students start with spiral one, regardless of other outside training they have completed. Online mentoring support is available and our regular classes are always evolving. All of our students engaged in spiral work are encouraged to come to the Forces series (three series during the year) to deepen their understanding of their own personal evolution within the vastness of the HIKE system. There are students who attend fewer of the Forces classes, of course, but when students commit to and attend all classes in the series, understanding, and discovery of their own personal formulas becomes easier and their growth happens faster. We know that the work we do individually changes us, but the work we do collectively changes everything.
Can you provide more insights on the future direction and upcoming opportunities for your business?
Dallas and I are planning 6-day in-person intensive retreats that will include spiral work and bio/neurofeedback training so students can experience the power of this work and their capacity for personal change in less than a week. We are excited to visit places around our country and across the globe to share wisdom teachings and the ease of evolution through the HIKE system. I have recently returned from Thailand where I visited a healing center that may be the location of one of these retreat intensives. We also plan to hold retreats in Michigan and California. If there are people reading this interview who would like us to bring this work to their area we would love to hear from them.
