I am a former educator who left the field to follow my intuition and my curiosities and start my own creative design business, and I am currently traveling the US full time in my home on wheels. I help teachers and small business owners make space for what lights them up in life, and feel empowered to share their journey through beautiful content and website stories.
Georgia O'Keefe, Website Design and Creative Direction
What does Joy with Georgia do? Through websites and creative direction, I empower overwhelmed educators and small business owners to simplify their day-to-day, create a life they love, and share their stories with confidence. Everyone wants to feel confident, joyful, and aligned with their purpose – but getting there can feel intimidating! My accessible approach makes overwhelming thoughts achievable and creates a pathway towards ease, confidence, and joy. I provide organized, step-by-step tools, resources, guides & creative direction to inspire hope and simplify life's daily demands. Who do you work with? I mainly work with busy educators and small-business owners who are looking for a guide to help them see new possibilities and feel more spacious in their day-to-day. While I do a variety of design work and template creation for businesses and educators, my favorite things to do are:
Create websites for small business owners who want to share their beautiful stories and offerings but have put this task on the back burner because of other demands.
Empower teachers to find more joy in the classroom or venture out to start a passion project, business of their own, or completely new career if it’s right for them!
What inspired you to pursue entrepreneurship? Teaching brought me joy for a long time, but slowly I realized my values, my curiosities, and my skills were taking me elsewhere. I still very much think like a teacher and structure my business as one where I educate others and learn from them the same way I did in a classroom, but now I’m able to take my love for creativity and entrepreneurship to a whole new level; creating websites for small businesses, and helping teachers add more joy to their careers and their lives. How can people work with you? It all starts with a simple chat! Just like you would meet a teacher for the first time, I encourage potential clients to chat with me to get a gut feeling if we are a good fit. During our chat, we’ll discuss the next accessible step in working together – whether it’s a tech tutorial or template, 1:1 guidance, or outsourcing the project to me completely! Next, we’ll get started on the project and you’re one step closer to feeling more aligned, confident, and lit up by your life/work! Some clients are just looking for a tutorial to create a website or design themselves, while others are looking to completely outsource, and my goal is to always meet you where you’re at. Often in your work it’s important to prioritize outsourcing to someone who's skilled in areas you are not, so you can focus on the tasks that do bring you confidence and joy. After gathering some important info from you, I’ll bring your unique vision to life while you feel more free and focus on tasks that are inside your wheelhouse! What are your core values and how do they influence your work and personal life? The main values of my life and my business are joy, confidence, intuition, and simplicity. We all deserve to live a life where we feel empowered to trust our gut and make aligned decisions, and where we feel we have the space to enjoy the simple things and have time for all that lights us up. I have created this balance and beauty in my own life, and my goal is to empower each of my clients to do the same thing in their lives and careers. What sets you apart from others in your profession or industry? I ensure a level of ease and collaboration that my clients value – I’ve been where they are, and now I am able to guide them to ease, flow, and happiness, because I have learned to embody those qualities as well. My experience as an educator taught me that there is no one size fits all and everyone learns differently. I still think like a teacher, and my initial chat with clients helps us determine together which option is the best fit for that client’s unique needs. With accessible, step-by-step tools, you CAN eliminate procrastination, reduce overwhelm, and be guided seamlessly towards your next venture or phase of business, and I am here to educate and empower you to do so! What motivates you to succeed and continue learning and growing? I consider myself a lifelong teacher and a lifelong learner. My business and my life are built around the concept that we are all constantly learning, growing, and evolving – and that is wonderful! Success and learning go hand in hand. As we evolve, we reassess our story, and decide what needs to happen next in order to feel aligned and connected to our values. We’re never “done” – we’re always a work in progress- and that’s the beauty of life. What hobbies or interests do you enjoy outside of work? Fun fact – I spend a majority of my time living and traveling in a van with my fiancé and dog! We built out the tiny travel home of our dreams inside a 2022 sprinter, and couldn’t be happier taking our home with us whenever we want to see new places.
What’s one piece of advice you have for anyone feeling overwhelmed and stressed?
Take a step back, as hard as it may be. In order to get clarity and listen to your intuition(which is the key ingredient to figuring out your next move in life) you need to sit back and make space to actually listen to your thoughts and your gut. Find just a few moments, take a few deep breaths, remind yourself you’ve overcome everything hard in your life up until this point. Also – it’s okay to ask for help! No one can do everything alone. Rewriting your story is possible, sharing your story is powerful, and having a guide can help you get out of your own way to do so.
How can people find you/work with you?
My website provides all the details on how we can work together and how to schedule your chat to find out if we are a good fit! Additionally, you’ll be able to find free resources, my portfolio and blog, and access to my podcast, Making the Grade, a podcast that inspires educators to tell their stories, follow new paths, and measure success with their own rulers. Please get in touch any time, even if it’s just an email or an Instagram message to say hello!
