Dr. Axa Yox, Personal Coach

Please tell us about yourself and your life so we can get to know you better.

I come from a family of intelligence, where skills and proficiency were the top priorities. That’s what I learned from a young age.

My dad was a genius, and he became my example of expertise to look up to.

In 1989, a nuclear power plant in Armenia was shut down following the 1988 earthquake due to safety concerns.By 1996, the country was facing an economic crisis.Restarting the station was a critical question, but the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) banned it because the station didn’t meet international safety standards — the same safety standards highlighted after the Chernobyl catastrophe.

My dad invented equipment that helped the station meet those international safety standards. In 1997, the IAEA granted permission to restart the station.

My mom gave me one of the best pieces of advice ever:

"Become irreplaceable as a professional, and you will succeed."

I graduated from university with a Master’s degree in Human Biology, followed by a specialized diploma in Biotechnology from CIHEAM — the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies in Greece. I later obtained a PhD in Microbiology with a focus on genetics.

I won multiple high-ranked scholarships, including:

  • Three DAAD (Germany) awards

  • OEAD (Austria)

  • SNSF (Switzerland)

  • INTAS (Finland)

  • Horizon 2020 (Germany)

I worked at leading research centers and universities across Europe, where I deposited the first isolates of cyanobacterial strains from my home country at BCCMTM/ULC. I also isolated and established the culture of the first, and still the only, strain representing a new species of bacteria.

Since 2014, I have been the only representative from my home country at the largest European Scientific Program, CYANOCOST.

I was a Fulbrighter in 2016–2017 at Auburn University, where I made my first invention — accidentally. Then, I went on to make 12 more.I am the author of 45 scientific articles.

In 2021, I invented a technology to remove nutrients from water. We are now negotiating the possibility of gifting it for a humanitarian mission with Eddie Wilson and his "Empire Missions."

Eddie Wilson, a businessman and entrepreneur, is known for his efforts in philanthropy and community support, often tied to his business ventures. His Empire Missions initiative focuses on using business success to fund and support charitable causes, community development, and humanitarian aid.

We met during the Aspire event in Fort Lauderdale. The Aspire Tour is known for featuring prominent speakers such as Kevin O’Leary, Marcus Lemonis, Alex Rodriguez, Gary Vaynerchuk, Codie Sanchez, and more.Eddie Wilson and Andrew Cordle are co-founders of the Aspire Tour. In 2023, entrepreneur Dan Fleyshman acquired an equity stake in the Aspire Tour, joining forces with Wilson and Cordle to further expand the event's reach.

In 2009, I won the First-Prize Award for my scientific achievements. In 2018, I was nominated as a person of extraordinary ability.

I eventually quit academia, founded my own company, and failed.

In 2022, I moved to the United States.

Can you share the pivotal moment in your life that led to the creation of your book?

In 2023, I attended Unleash the Power Within with Tony Robbins, which completely transformed my life. I went into deep self-analysis and discovered unexpected things.

In 2024, I published a book where I described the "One Promise" I found to be the reason behind every decision I had ever made.

I started a podcast to share what I learned and eventually began hosting my own podcast — W.H.Y. (What, How, Why).

How does understanding one's "Promise" help in rewiring old patterns and aligning with one's true self?

Old patterns are more deeply ingrained than we realise. Behind those patterns lies our biochemistry, which changes every time we encounter a familiar situation.

This is where people get stuck. They struggle to let go because they don’t know what they need to let go of.

What are some common challenges professionals face when seeking lasting motivation, and how does your approach address them?

Old patterns are not just images we can change. They trigger a three-layered response:

  1. Hormonal Response – Designed by nature to protect us.

  2. Neurotransmitters – Built over decades of conditioning.

  3. The Second Response Layer – Governed by neurotransmitters.

You can only break the pattern if you find the edge between the second and third layers. People who are stuck try to make changes on the first and second layers, but lasting transformation requires deeper work.

How did your personal journey of resilience influence the science-backed strategies you now share with others?

My journey helped me uncover the intricate relationship between human biology, behavioural patterns, and decision-making. I now use this knowledge to guide others toward sustainable change.

Can you provide an example of a transformation you've witnessed in someone who applied the principles from your book?

I have saved several marriages by helping people see situations from a different perspective.I’ve completely reversed the way several clients view food, which has led to life-changing results. One of my clients lost over 120 pounds by shifting their mindset.

What advice would you give to someone who feels they’ve hit rock bottom and sees no future?

"Pause. Reflect. Recognize that you are not defined by this moment. The next step you take can change everything."

Tell us about your greatest career achievement so far.

Being nominated as a person of extraordinary ability and constantly hearing that I think outside the box.

If you could change one thing about your industry, what would it be and why?

I would change how people perceive their inner biochemistry.

Tell us about a pivotal moment in your life that brought you to where you are today.

I couldn’t find the answer to one question: "Why doesn’t our 'why' work?"When I finally discovered the answer, it became the topic of my TEDx speech and launched my journey into public speaking.

Coming from science, I was used to presenting data. Now, I use my knowledge of human biology to help people eat smart and live healthily.

One of the biggest misconceptions about the human body is:

“In = Out.”

In reality, it’s:

“In – Affect – Affected Outcome.”

Pets

We’ve always had pets. Currently, we have our third dog, Archie. We once had a cat named Mikie.

Hobbies

I love Zumba — it’s my passion.Water is also my passion, which is why I live by the ocean.
