The number one question that lingers in every marketer’s mind these days.

Will AI replace my job? My answer? Right now, heck no. And here’s the TL;DR version as to why:

  • ChatGPT's knowledge is limited to a cut-off date of September 2021. Go figure if you’re looking to write updated information!

  • It lacks independent thought and creativity, and its content may lack unique human insights. (aka, it may sound robotic for the most part)

  • ChatGPT's generated text may overlap with existing sources, requiring users to ensure originality and avoid plagiarism. This is why you can’t just copy-paste and expect Google to reward you for non-original written content.

  • It’s not optimized for SEO, which means you need additional steps for search engine optimization.

  • ChatGPT cannot replicate your brand voice and personality accurately. Long story short, it can never be you – which is a good thing.

When you think about it, even though it can’t fully replace humans (just yet), there’s no harm in using it as a helper. Think about Tony Stark and how he became Iron Man. He wouldn’t have been so successful without the help of Jarvis. And without the help of Jarvis…well, Thanos wouldn’t have been defeated (and I could go on and on about this, but this isn’t the point!).

Point is, AI when used the right way, definitely has its advantages. Let me break down the 5 ways you can use ChatGPT in particular and how you can supercharge its powers for your content creation on LinkedIn:

1. Use ChatGPT for new content ideas

Make sure you have a clear understanding of these two things: your target audience and your topic area, before providing prompts to ChatGPT for relevant and useful results.

Next, you need to review the generated text, refine, and expand on ideas to create a list of potential blog topics for you to write about. You can combine ideas or use them as inspiration to create unique topics. The key step here is to review everything that GPT churns out. You have to remember that refinement is key to incorporating the human element into its results.

2. Create content outlines within minutes

What used to take about 30 minutes or more can now be reduced to a lot less. Use ChatGPT to streamline your content outlining process in 2 steps:

Step one, provide a prompt with the main idea of your article and a few keywords. Step two, analyze what ChatGPT generated and pick some of these subtopics that resonate most with your brand and the type of value you want to deliver.

You have the flexibility to refine, reorder, or expand on the suggestions provided by the tool, which allows you to create a comprehensive and well-structured outline for your content. Like Jarvis is to Mr. Stark, ChatGPT will do the heavy lifting in generating content ideas and outlines, so you can focus on creating high-quality content efficiently.

3. Say goodbye to writer's block

Trust me when I say that even the best writers I know end up losing words and grappling at straws trying to find the inspiration to write…something. ANYTHING.

Thanks to GPT, you can use it to rewrite what you’ve previously written (at least it could somehow mimic your tone of voice since you’re giving it something that’s “yours”) or give it a prompt to give you a catchy CTA to tie up any loose ends.

4. Use ChatGPT to generate meta description

Even though meta descriptions do not directly impact Google's rankings, they still hold some significance in enticing readers to click on your page in search results. With ChatGPT, you can quickly generate meta descriptions by inputting a prompt and refining the tool's suggestions to make them concise, clear, and compelling.

Pro Tip: Keep in mind that meta descriptions should be limited to 155 characters and should encourage users to tap on your website link.

5. Draft your LinkedIn posts in a jiff

In-house social media writer? ChatGPT can help you stay ahead of your social post-scheduling efforts. You can provide ChatGPT with specific instructions for various social media platforms, such as Instagram captions with hashtags, educational LinkedIn posts, or concise Twitter posts that fit within character limits.

However, like any other writer's work, AI-generated content shouldn’t be published without reviews and edits from you – the actual writer. Make sure to fine-tune the copy to ensure it's engaging, informative, and relevant to your audience and platform. PLUS, adding bits and pieces of how you truly sound will help humanize your content even more.
