Have you ever wondered why your eczema flares up when you're stressed? Or why do bloating, sinus congestion, and skin issues persist no matter how many treatments you try? Your body isn’t just reacting physically; it’s speaking in the language of emotions and energy.

The photo shows a young woman outdoors wearing a pink shirt and black pants, holding her stomach with both hands and displaying a pained or uncomfortable expression, suggesting abdominal discomfort or digestive distress.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), your organs and emotions are deeply linked through the Five Elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. When these elements are balanced, you feel vibrant. When they’re out of sync, your body sends distress signals through symptoms like inflammation, digestive discomfort, and respiratory issues.

Instead of just treating symptoms, what if you could decode the emotional root causes behind them?

The five elements and your health

Each of the Five Elements governs different organs, emotions, and functions. When in harmony, they create a strong foundation for physical and emotional well-being.

However, when imbalances occur, unresolved emotions can weaken specific organ systems, leading to chronic symptoms that don’t respond to conventional treatments.

Here’s how the Five Elements reveal the connection between your skin, gut, lungs, and emotions as we continue to focus on skin health from my last article.

The hidden emotional triggers behind chronic symptoms

Many people think of skin conditions, digestive problems, and respiratory issues as purely physical ailments, but in TCM, these symptoms often stem from emotional imbalances.

The Five Elements of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water form the foundation of your body’s energy system. Each element governs specific organs, emotions, and physical functions. When energy is blocked or out of balance, unresolved emotions can lead to recurring health issues that don’t improve with conventional treatments.

By working with the Five Elements, using Medical Qigong healing sounds and acupressure points, you can release emotional stagnation, restore organ health, and clear chronic symptoms naturally.

Earth & metal: The gut-skin-lung connection

In TCM, the Earth Element (Spleen & Stomach) is the mother of the Metal Element (Lungs, Large Intestines & Skin). A strong digestive system provides the foundation for clear skin and healthy lungs.

The emotional link

  • Worry and overthinking weaken the Earth's Elements, causing poor digestion, bloating, and inflammation.

  • Grief and perfectionism disrupt the mental element, weakening immunity and causing respiratory issues and skin hypersensitivity.

How to restore balance

To heal these imbalances, focus on gut health first. A deep digestive reset clears dampness, allowing your skin and lungs to function optimally.

Earth element: The gut-skin link

The Earth Element corresponds to the Spleen (脾) and Stomach (胃), which are responsible for digestion, nutrient absorption, and emotional stability.

An imbalanced Earth element often leads to bloating, sluggish digestion, and dampness, which can cause eczema, rosacea, and fungal infections. Emotionally, Earth imbalances show up as overthinking, worry, and difficulty feeling grounded.

Signs of an Earth imbalance

  • Bloating, food sensitivities, and poor digestion

  • Damp skin conditions (oozing eczema, fungal infections)

  • Excessive worry, overthinking, or feeling emotionally ungrounded

Acupressure for Earth balance

Press Spleen 6 (SP6) "Three Yin Intersection" (三阴交) (on the inner lower leg) to support digestion and reduce dampness-related skin issues. Another key point, Stomach 36 (ST36) "Leg Three Miles" (足三里), strengthens gut health and overall energy.

Medical Qigong for digestive harmony

  • Place both hands over your stomach.

  • Inhale deeply, then exhale with the “Whooooo” sound, like the wind blowing.

  • Set the intention to release worry and excess mental chatter, visualizing a golden light filling your stomach.

  • Repeat 6-9 breaths to restore digestive harmony.

Metal element: The lungs, skin & emotional release

The Metal Element governs the Lungs (肺) and Large Intestine (大肠), affecting breath, detoxification, and immunity.

Chronic grief, sadness, or perfectionism can weaken Metal energy, leading to eczema, allergies, or chronic respiratory issues.

Signs of a metal imbalance

  • Eczema, psoriasis, or overly dry skin

  • Sinus congestion, asthma, or allergies

  • Unprocessed grief, sadness, or difficulty letting go

Acupressure for metal balance

Lung 9 (LU9) – "Great Abyss" (太渊) (on the wrist) strengthens lung function and clears skin-related issues. For allergies and skin itching, press Large Intestine 11 (LI11) "Pool at the Bend" (曲池) (on the outer elbow).

Medical Qigong for emotional release

  • Place hands on your lungs.

  • Inhale deeply, then exhale with the “Sssssss” sound, like a snake hissing.

  • Set the intention to release grief and emotional blockages, allowing clear breathing and brighter skin.

  • Repeat 6-9 breaths to restore renewal.

Wood & fire: Stress, inflammation, and skin health

Have you ever noticed how stress triggers skin flare-ups? That’s because your Wood and Fire Elements are directly linked to inflammation and circulation.

  • The Fire Element (Heart & Small Intestine) governs circulation and heat in the body. An imbalance can cause red, inflamed skin, rosacea, or excessive sweating.

  • The Wood Element (Liver & Gallbladder) is your body’s detox system. If overburdened, toxins try to escape through your skin, causing acne, itching, and rashes.

The emotional link

  • Anger and frustration stagnate Wood energy, leading to liver congestion, detox issues, and skin breakouts.

  • Emotional burnout from excessive Fire energy causes premature aging, sluggish circulation, and dull skin.

How to restore balance

To calm excess Fire, eat cooling foods like cucumber, aloe vera, and leafy greens. To support liver detox, move stagnant energy through stretching, Medical Qigong healing sounds, and breathwork that releases stored emotions.

Wood element: The stress-skin connection

The Wood Element is associated with the Liver (肝) and Gallbladder (胆), which regulate detoxification, emotional flexibility, and energy flow. When Wood energy becomes stagnant, emotions like anger, frustration, and resentment build up, leading to internal stress and inflammation.

Signs of a wood imbalance

  • Itchy, inflamed skin (eczema, psoriasis, rashes)

  • Acne and hives caused by liver toxicity

  • Tension, headaches, stiff shoulders, or eye strain

Acupressure for wood balance

Applying pressure to Liver 3 (LV3) "Great Rushing" (太冲) (located on foot between the first and second toes) can help release frustration, improve detoxification, and soothe skin irritation. Another useful point, Gallbladder 34 (GB34) "Yang Mound Spring" (阳陵泉) (found on the outer lower leg), supports liver function and reduces inflammation.

Medical Qigong for liver detox & emotional release

  • Place both hands over your right ribcage (liver area).

  • Inhale deeply, then exhale with a soft “Shhhh” sound (like telling someone to be quiet).

  • Set the intention to release anger and emotional stagnation, visualizing a soothing green light clearing liver heat and tension.

  • Repeat 6-9 breaths for emotional release and skin detox.

Fire element: Anxiety, inflammation & circulation

The Fire Element governs the Heart (心) and Small Intestine (小肠), regulating blood circulation, emotional warmth, and mental clarity.

An overactive Fire element can lead to excess heat, resulting in flushed skin, rosacea, excessive sweating, or palpitations. Emotionally, this manifests as anxiety, overwhelm, or difficulty expressing joy.

Signs of a fire imbalance

  • Red, flushed skin (rosacea, acne, heat rashes)

  • Heart palpitations, excessive sweating, or insomnia

  • Emotional burnout, anxiety, or mood swings

Acupressure for fire balance

To calm an overactive Fire element, press Heart 7 (HT7) "Spirit Gate" (神门) (on the inner wrist), which soothes anxiety and supports restful sleep. Another useful point, Pericardium 6 (PC6) "Inner Pass" (内关), reduces emotional stress and calms an overactive heart.

Medical Qigong for cooling fire energy

  • Place both hands over your heart centre.

  • Inhale deeply, then exhale with a gentle “Haaaaa” sound, like a sigh of relief.

  • Set the intention to release anxiety and emotional overwhelm, imagining a soft pink or golden light expanding from your heart.

  • Repeat 6-9 breaths to restore calm and balance.

Water element: The stress-inflammation connection and slow healing

The Water Element is associated with the Kidneys (肾) and Bladder (膀胱), which govern vitality, hydration, and the body’s ability to adapt to stress. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the kidneys store Jing (essence) the fundamental energy of life. When Water energy is depleted, the body struggles to repair itself, retain moisture, and regulate inflammation, leading to slow skin healing, dryness, and premature aging.

Just as a river nourishes the land, the Water Element moistens and rejuvenates the skin. But when Water Qi is weak, dehydration, inflammation, and stagnation take hold, making skin more fragile, dull, and slow to heal.

Signs of a water imbalance

  • Chronic dryness, dehydrated skin, brittle hair, or cracked lips

  • Slow wound healing and persistent inflammation cuts, scars, and acne take longer to fade

  • Premature aging wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin due to poor fluid retention

  • Puffiness and fluid retention bags under the eyes, swollen limbs, or bloating

  • Chronic fatigue and burnout, feeling drained, weak, or unmotivated

  • Anxiety, fear, emotional depletion, difficulty letting go, excessive worrying, or a constant state of survival stress

The emotional link

The Water Element is deeply connected to fear, stress, and survival instincts. When we are under chronic stress, the Kidneys release cortisol and adrenaline, keeping the body in a fight-or-flight state. This depletes Water energy, leading to:

  • Increased inflammation: Chich worsens eczema, psoriasis, and acne flare-ups

  • Weakened circulation: Causing dull skin, poor oxygenation, and slow repair

  • Excess tension: Creating tightness in the jaw, shoulders, and lower back

In TCM, fear is considered a contracting emotion; when we hold onto fear, our energy shrinks and becomes stagnant, preventing the body from naturally rejuvenating. This is why people who experience chronic stress and anxiety often develop persistent skin issues, dryness, or slow-healing wounds.

Acupressure for water balance

Applying pressure to specific acupressure points can strengthen Kidney Qi, boost circulation, and promote skin hydration:

  • Kidney 3 (KI3): "Supreme Stream" (太溪): Located on the inner ankle, this point strengthens Kidney energy, improves fluid balance, and supports skin hydration.

  • Bladder 23 (BL23): "Shu Mansion" (肾俞): Located on the lower back, this point warms the Kidney Yang, helping to reduce coldness, water retention, and poor circulation.

  • Ren 4 (CV4): "Gate of Origin" (关元): Found three finger-widths below the navel. This point boosts Kidney Qi and rejuvenates overall vitality.

How to use these acupressure points

Apply gentle pressure for 1-2 minutes while taking deep, calming breaths. Massage daily to support hydration, energy, and skin renewal.

Medical Qigong for hydration & deep rejuvenation

The Kidney Healing Sound ("Choooo" 呜) is a powerful Medical Qigong technique that calms the nervous system, replenishes Water Qi, and restores the body's natural ability to heal.

  • Place both hands over your lower back (Kidney area).

  • Inhale deeply, gathering energy into your lower abdomen.

  • Exhale with the "Choooo" sound, as if blowing out a candle softly, releasing stress and fear.

  • Set the intention to nourish and replenish your Water energy, visualizing a deep blue light radiating through the kidneys, skin, and entire body.

  • Repeat 6-9 breaths, feeling a sense of deep relaxation and renewal.

This practice helps release deep-seated fear, calm anxiety-related inflammation, and restore hydration from the inside out.

How to restore water balance for healthy, hydrated skin

  • Hydration is key, so drink warm water throughout the day and avoid excessive caffeine or alcohol, which deplete Water Qi.

  • Eat kidney-supporting foods like black beans, walnuts, seaweed, bone broth, and dark leafy greens to strengthen Water energy and nourish the skin.

  • Rest and restore as deep sleep replenishes Jing Essence, allowing the skin to repair, regenerate, and maintain elasticity.

  • Using vibrational medicine healing tools playing Quantum frequencies, Qi Coil Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) technology, and plant essences can support nervous system regulation, hydration, and cellular rejuvenation.

The power of gut detox: Cleansing the body, mind & spirit

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), all healing begins with the gut. The digestive system is the root of nourishment, immunity, and emotional well-being, but it is also where energetic balance is cultivated. According to Taoist philosophy, which forms the foundation of TCM, our health is governed by the dynamic interplay of Yin and Yang, the complementary forces that exist in all things. This principle extends beyond our physical body; it is embedded in the Five Elements system, which maps out the energetics of nature, the cosmos, and the human body.

At the deepest level, we are not just biochemical beings; we are energetic beings. In the same way that Western quantum physics recognizes that all matter is made of vibrating energy fields, Taoist medicine acknowledges that Qi (life force energy) flows through the body in specific pathways, influencing our physical, mental, and emotional states. When Qi is abundant and flowing smoothly, we experience vitality, clarity, and balance. When it is blocked, stagnant, or deficient, illness manifests not only in our physical body but also in our emotions, thoughts, and even spiritual alignment.

The gut, in particular, is considered the Earth Element in the Five Elements system. It serves as the energetic bridge between Heaven and Earth, receiving nourishment from the external world (Earth) and transmuting it into Qi to sustain life. When this energetic process is disrupted, whether through poor diet, unresolved emotions, or environmental toxins, it creates dampness, stagnation, and toxicity in the body. This, in turn, manifests as bloating, food sensitivities, sluggish digestion, and systemic inflammation that can spill over into the lungs (Metal Element), skin, and mind.

But digestion is more than just a physical process; it is also energetic and emotional. Taoist philosophy teaches that our inner world mirrors the outer world, and just as we digest food, we must also digest emotions, thoughts, and experiences. When we fail to properly process and release stress, grief, worry, or anger, these unresolved energies accumulate in the body, leading to chronic health conditions.

This is why a deep gut cleanse is not just about physical detoxification; it is a reset for the body, mind, and spirit. By clearing the digestive system of accumulated waste, dampness, and toxins, we also create space for emotional release, mental clarity, and energetic renewal.

The energetic shift that comes with deep cleansing

Many clients in my one-on-one transformation program who have used ZenCleanz ONE (a 1-day intestinal cleanse) or ZenCleanz Rainbow (a 7-day full intestinal and liver cleanse) report profound transformations beyond the physical.

After cleansing, they often express feelings:

  • Lighter and more connected, as if an energetic fog had lifted.

  • An emotional reset as moods stabilize and lingering sadness or frustration dissipates.

  • A shift in cravings and addictions as many notice that they naturally cut out unhealthy habits or toxic patterns.

  • They are more attuned to their intuition as if their body is speaking to them more clearly.

This is because our food doesn’t just nourish us physically; it also influences our moods, thoughts, and energy fields. Just as low-vibration foods (processed, heavy, or chemically-laden foods) create stagnation in the body, high-vibrational foods such as enzyme-rich, fermented foods help clear stagnation and elevate our frequency.

The vibrational medicine of ZenCleanz

ZenCleanz is unlike ordinary detox systems. It is infused with high-frequency vibrational medicine, created through a fermentation process that lasts over three years, during which Zen Buddhist prayers are played over the enzymes.

Why is this significant? Because frequency affects biology. Just as sound frequencies can alter water molecules, the vibrational energy embedded in high-frequency fermented enzymes can transform the gut microbiome, restore cellular health, and raise overall energetic vibration.

From a quantum healing perspective, this transforms detox into more than just a physical cleanse; it becomes a spiritual purification that raises one’s vibrational frequency.

As we discussed in my last article, "What Do Your Skin, Gut, and Lungs Have in Common? More Than You Think!", vibrational medicine plays a key role in deep healing, whether through:

  • Sound healing & Medical Qigong frequencies which help clear stagnant emotions.

  • Quantum frequencies & RIFE technology can target specific physical and emotional imbalances.

  • PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) tools like Qi Coils amplify healing frequencies, accelerating cellular regeneration and balancing the body’s auric field.

By cleansing with high-frequency fermented enzymes, ZenCleanz works at a subtle yet powerful energetic level, helping to remove not just physical toxins but also stagnant emotional and energetic debris that weigh us down.

Quantum healing and the human energy field

From a quantum physics perspective, we are not just matter; we are energy that vibrates at different frequencies. Our thoughts, emotions, and environment all influence our auric field, affecting our health, mood, and overall vitality.

Taoist cosmology teaches that Heaven and Earth are interconnected through energy fields, with humans acting as a bridge between these forces. This is why practices such as Qi Gong, acupuncture, and breathwork are so effective; they restore harmonic resonance between the body’s internal energy system and the larger universal energy field.

When we consume high-vibrational foods or use energy-based healing tools, we are essentially recalibrating our energy field, making it easier to:

  • Release emotional blockages.

  • Break free from addictive cycles.

  • Strengthen our energetic field against stress, negativity, and environmental toxins.

Pairing a gut detox with quantum healing tools like Qi Coils (which I use in my clinic and personally) or vibrational frequencies amplifies the energetic shift, allowing for deeper transformation at a cellular and soul level.

Through quantum resonance, sound healing, and bio-energetic medicine, we return to a state of balance where the body, mind, and spirit can heal in alignment with natural laws.

Heal from the inside out: Where to start

A great place to start is by cleansing the gut, as digestion is the foundation of skin and overall health. The ZenCleanz Detox Kits, packed with 3-year fermented enzymes, help flush out toxins, reset digestion, and support clearer skin.

For deeper energy alignment, I recommend vibrational healing tools like Qi Coils and Qi Life quantum devices, which use frequencies to reduce stress, restore balance, and accelerate self-healing.
