Meet serial entrepreneur and innovator Bernadette Patterson. The Founder of Dream Team Hair & Beauty Salon and The Dream Team Hair & Beauty Professional Hair Products. Both brands are expanding in stores across the United States. Bernadette created a brand focused on the hair care of women of color, explaining that the hair industry caters to what hair looks like rather than its healthy state. With both of Bernadette's companies combined, she plans to eradicate the issue but offering both style and care. Bernadette says, "women of color need to obtain her products and services because they will look and feel good while receiving great hair products. Our products help maintain hairstyle and keep it healthy" Bernadette is most proud that her products have natural ingredients that help strengthen and grow hair.
Additionally, to serve an underserved market, being an influence in the hair industry has
proven to be successful and a blessing to many others. Bernadette's endeavors offer jobs
and opportunities for women within her locality. Bernadette doesn't plan on slowing down in building her empire anytime soon, I asked Bernadette a few questions; here's what she had to say.
Please tell us about your company and the work that you do.
My name is Bernadette Patterson I’m the owner of The Dream Team Hair & Beauty Salon & the founder of The Dream Team Hair & Beauty Professional Hair Products. I had my cosmetology license for over 18 years, had my own hair salon business for over 6 years & had my own hair product line for over a year. I do a different variety of hairstyles like dreads, relaxers, texturizers, hair color, hair cuts, natural hair & so much more. I take appointments only and anybody can come to the salon if they need hair products. License stylists & barbers come by the salon to get The Dream Team Hair & Beauty Professional Hair Products also. What does a typical day look like for you?
I start doing hair at 8:30 am and take my last client around 6 pm. If anybody needs products I will be there between that time. I check my website when I go home for orders and pack them up to ship off. Talk to The Dream Team Hair & Beauty Brand Ambassadors if they have any questions and spend time with family.
What do you find most challenging about being an entrepreneur?
Since I have multiple streams of income coming in by running a hair salon & having my own hair product line I needed some help. It was hard for me to do two things at once unless they wanted to come to the salon to buy hair products and I check my messages that’s on my website when I get home.
How have you overcome those particular challenges?
I overcome the challenge by hiring The Dream Team Hair & Beauty Brand Ambassadors. Now if someone has a question about the products they can contact one of the Ambassadors that’s on the website and even buy from them.
What keeps you motivated?
I always make my clients feel like they are at home when they step into my salon. Seeing people's reactions after I’m finished doing their hair keeps me motivated. I love making people look good because when they look good they feel good. I also provide great hair products of my own to maintain your style at home and help your hair to grow. My salon also has a relaxing atmosphere because I know this world can be very challenging.
What is your process of obtaining new clients?
I have a big clientele and my process of obtaining new clients is providing great work, conversation, and a good atmosphere. I make everybody feel like they are at home. A lot of people love my personality and work, so they come back. They will contact me through messenger on Facebook or contact me on my business phone.
What do you see for the future of your business?
I see The Dream Team Hair & Beauty Professional Hair Products are going to be well-known around the world in the future. These are great products that really work.
What’s next for you and your company?
For the year 2022, I’m planning on doing hair shows and going around to salons & barber shops selling The Dream Team Hair & Beauty Professional Hair Products.
