Carnivals, the circus, acrobats, and magicians have always lured our attention onto the tightrope, that tension of what we see and what really is the truth. Our lives are no different.
The mind has an incredible capacity to create illusory renditions of what we want it to be thus orchestrating a reality that may not always be what we think. Or maybe it is happening exactly as we think.
According to Jungian Psychology, our minds work much like a computer being programmed by the qualities we deem unimportant, unacceptable and unreliable. The programming was conditioned from as early as creation in the womb up to the age of about 7-10 years. Early on infantile choices were made to keep you safe, in the role defined by family, community and culture, as well as an attempt to be your true self.
What a heavy load for such a young age!
As you have aged and may find yourself in relationships and decisions that may not work as you wish, one must ask, “Could something else be at play here?”
Carl Jung said, “Until you make the unconscious conscious, it’s going to direct your life and you will think it’s fate.”
Recently, a client shared how she had worked hard for the past year training for a competition that required a qualifying time. She was clearly frustrated by not making her goal and her perception that others are lucky in their achievements. See how this plays out in our everyday life https://kristipeck.com/love-you-ary/.
Within your unconscious mind (opposite of a conscious mind that has awareness), you hold what you do not want others to see and know about you. And this holding onto IS what is orchestrating your life. In Jungian Theory, this keeping hidden the very assets that make you authentic, is referred to as the Shadow. The shadow is kept in the unconscious mind. We tend to spend enormous efforts balancing the tightrope for keeping it securely hidden and the illusory way we want others to see who we are.
Whether in business, your community or relationships, the shadow will control and dictate your choices until you stop balancing the tightness of what is hidden and uncover the greatness that lies within.
Feel there is a pattern developing that seems “unlucky” or you notice your relationships appear to be “unfulfilling”, these are indicators the shadow is ready to be uncovered. Book a clarity call to find out how you can have clarity around your choices.
