Many people want to be successful, and some of us are writing our dreams and goals in our journals. We visualize, we create vision boards, and yet, many feel stuck. Even though we feel we do everything right in our business, we still do not move forward towards reaching or exceeding our original goals.
Did this ever happen to you? If yes, read on. What usually happens is this. We have this amazing idea, a new course we want to create, a new coaching program, a membership site, a personal blog we want to run, an online business we want to start, or a new strategy on how to scale our business and grow. However, what is happening then is a pattern that we need to break if we want to succeed in life and business. What normally happens every time our enthusiasm is very high in the beginning in the planning phase. We love new exciting projects, but then something changes, and our enthusiasm drops slowly if we do not follow through with our plans, and our dreams and goals start to fade, more and more with each day until they are completely gone. What is the most common reason for this pattern? Most of the time, fear kicks in, past experiences and past failures start to come out, other people’s experiences, and the feeling that we are not worthy enough starts to kick in.
We then start to feel stuck. We question ourselves, our worth, our skills and abilities, and even our purpose in life. When this happens, most of us go into one or more of these ‘Roles” in our business:
1. The Victim Role
When we feel things do not go our way and feel helpless, instead of pushing and doing the work, we start to feel victims. We feel that we are not successful because our country does not offer us support, or the competition lowered their prices, or our marketing team is not doing their job, or someone else is always the reason why we are not successful. We feel that we are the victim, and there is someone else to blame for not being able to grow and succeed.
Is this really true? Think about it. It is your business, and you are the only person that can make it work.
This is not a good place to be, even though it is easy to go there.
How to get out of this mentality?
First, be aware that you are there in the first place. Recognize the current situation and “role” you are in, and remember nothing is forever.
Your business that you worked so hard for, or your business that you so much wanted to open. No one can run your business better than you. When you change how you feel about it, everything will change.
Start by acknowledging your power, your gifts, and start thinking that YOU can change it all around, anytime.
Then start to think of the result you want to go, keep pushing, keep doing, and be persistent. You can make it work. All you need to do is put your mind to it.
Take action and explore new possibilities and be open to adopting new ways of doing business. It can be fun instead of hard.
2. The Prisoner Role
This is a role that is also not fun to be in.
You are feeling like a prisoner, and you see no way out. It feels as if you are in prison, and most probably you have built it for yourself, and you can not see how and what to do.
Here you are just looking for someone to save you, and again it is a role that you take your power away from you.
The truth is no one can save you but yourself. Literally:
"Escape your own prison of your mind" and save yourself.
How to do that?
Start by understanding your true worth and hold on to your powers and use them.
You are powerful beyond your thinking. Little formula to do this:
Write down what you are worth.
Write your unique traits.
Remind yourself of your powers and your skills that you have.
Past success in anything before may help to remind yourself that you can do it.
Remember, “You got you.” You can save yourself from this “role” you are in.
Next, go out and show your true value to the world.
3. The Teacher Role
Interesting role, and yet many find ourselves in this role too often.
When you read and acquire knowledge, take courses, read books, and “know everything theoretically,” what you need to do. The issue here is, you are only “knowing” and not “doing.” Often you are even teaching but still NOT Doing.
If you are in this phase or “role” right now. Good, at least you are ready for that massive action and for that one step that will bring you to the other side.
So what can you do here to get out of it?
Write down your goal once again.
Put all your knowledge that you have accumulated on paper.
Write your options or action steps and write the end date when you want to achieve your goal.
Once you have that, choose from all those action steps, one action step, or one option to make your first step that will bring you closer to your goal. Once you have that, put a date on it, and write down when you will take it ( ASAP ), sign, and make a promise to yourself that you will do it. Make yourself accountable.
4. The Neighbour Role
Have you ever found yourself in a place where you look at what your neighbor (competition ) is doing, and then you start either comparing yourself with them? — Thinking, "Look, he/she sells his service very easy" and "Look at the poor me."
How about looking at your competitors and then see their prices and start lowering your prices as well?
How about looking at your neighbor, getting discouraged, and stop doing what you know you should be doing just because they are doing something similar, a program, a curse, a coaching package, a group coaching idea, or just the same business idea?
If you find yourself doing this, acknowledge it, and start focusing on YOU. The truth is everyone has their own authenticity, their own worth, their own path, and purpose.
The world has so many people that wait to be served by you, and there is a tribe for everyone.
Remember, you give the world a small part of you in everything you do, making what you do unique and special. The main thing is to show your true power to the world without comparing it with anyone else. Just embrace your uniqueness and show it to the world.
