Are You Listening To And Serving Your Mind And Body?

This may seem like a simple question.

Consider this…

Are you listening to yourself on a deeper level?

Do you have an awareness of what your body and mind is communicating to you and why?

How is your body and mind guiding you in daily life with how to move your body, what to eat, how much sleep you require, how you interact with others?

Do your actions serve your mind and body to their highest level, including spiritually?

Are you aware of where your feelings manifest in your body? Where does the ache, pain or stress ruminate? Does fear or worry play a part in this for you?

Let me have you consider this…

What must happen so you can “work inwards” for your mind and body and truly listen and communicate with yourself? How can you transcend beyond only “working out” for your body?

These are all deep questions, I know. They are likely questions that you may need to take away and spend some time thinking about. It is worth considering that answering these questions and taking intentional action will allow you to move away from stress, anxiety and ultimately from “fight or flight” to “rest and digest”.

What’s the difference between these “fight or flight” and “rest and digest?”…

Fight or Flight:

An automatic physiological reaction to an event. The sympathetic nervous system kicks in. Your heart rate increases, breathing can become rapid and muscles feel tense. You feel threatened in a stressful situation bringing about the response to fight or flee from a situation.

Rest and Digest:

The parasympathetic nervous system kicks in. This is designed to conserve the body’s natural activity and relax the individual. Breathing correctly can bring you to this. Once stress or activity has stopped your body automatically goes into rest and digest, lowering blood pressure and increase relaxation.

Activation

I encourage you to become awake to these feelings and increase your awareness. Over time you will experience a sense of alignment as you become activated on a deeper level. This will not happen immediately, so be patient with the process.

You can activate your “rest and digest” system and relaxation through breathing techniques, regular movement and exercise and simply getting some fresh air.

As a Fitness and Resilience Coach, I can teach you how to achieve the above and answer the questions I put to you at the beginning of this article so you can take action and move forward from wherever you currently may be.
