In the last 3 years, we have certainly gone through three distinct stages in life:
The well-trodden path of going to college, getting an education, working Monday to Friday, and retiring at 65
Followed up by the Pandemic with multiple lockdowns and an overnight WFH culture
To then watch the World filtering through new trends, and new needs, and rediscovering what is important to them.
“It is almost like a collective mid-life crisis has happened all at once” explains Marty Wightman of https://www.BetterrCoach.com. And so, with his Coaching Psychology hat on and his teachings of Life Design, Betterr was reborn to help us all design the next chapter of our lives and rechart.
Marty Wightman, Life Design Coach
What exactly is Life Design and Coaching Psychology?
Great question! To keep it simple, Life Design is a problem-solving methodology used to navigate our way through change and transition. Whereas Coaching Psychology applies Tools and Techniques to increase our Performance, well-being, and Achievement – all grounded in evidence-based scientific research.
Fusing these two concepts together brought about a new window of opportunity, that arms my clients with a new rule book and a compass to give them a much-needed course correction at a measurable and tangible pace.
Tell me more about your business ‘Betterr’ and what type of customers are you targeting?
Betterr is here is to help our clients design their future life with the knowledge of a trusted process that tests and learns their way into a new life chapter where both their life values and their reason to work are in harmony.
Our typical clients are those ready for change, ready to cut free from ‘Shoulds’ and ‘Woulds’ and take pride in a more fulfilling life that uses all the evidence-based performance-enhancing Tools and Techniques from the world of Coaching Psychology to bring a new fulfilling life to them faster and with less friction.
How specifically does the Betterr Process help your clients?
Betterr has a thorough process-driven pathway that we have our clients follows. It covers everything from taking our Life Assessment, through to understanding your Habits and Traits, going through our major flagship session on Future Planning that utilizes the power of prototyping and delivering you the very blueprint to recharting to a Betterr life.
What led you to be a Life Design Coach?
After being trained by Bill Burnet and Dave Evans from Stanford University in Life Design, I could not let this knowledge - combined with my lifelong academic affair with Coaching Psychology – not go to waste. Especially when people are going through a recharting process.
I knew this was the perfect time for people to take time to evaluate, filter through new ways, and new needs, and rediscover our new paths.
Having gone through the very process from start to end myself, and being thrilled with the results, it was time to turn my Coaching business into a Life Design Business.
What has been your favourite failure so far?
Ha – a favourite failure?
Actually, I do have one!
Piecing together the actual ‘Betterr Process’ multiply times – close to over 100 iterations, from having far too many steps and homework sheets to then having far too few changes with minimal homework.
After spending close to over £40,000 of my own money on honing the process, I was finally happy to see what was not working and what was. And the reason it is my favourite is that I can look my clients in their eyes and confidently say I have learned the hard way – so you don’t have to. The results of the process from real people studied can be found here: https://www.betterrcoach.com/about/
So what is the next big goal for ‘Betterr’?
The next big goal is to get the message out there before we go and fall back into our comfortable slippers – go back to the well-trodden path and miss out on of the greatest recharting opportunities some of us will get this lifetime!
