Being an expert in your niche will elevate your status, increase your earning potential and make you more established and known. This breaks you away from the ‘competition’, who are scrambling to get clients in a competitive market, roughly charging the same.
What is an expert? A high-performance person within a specific niche. They are well-informed in their field and have achieved more than average results and recognition. Only you can determine if you can become an expert in your niche. If you’re wondering how to start, here are some key points to consider:
1. Identify your niche in your business
Your niche must be something you are passionate about, and that can really help your client. Something you can delve much deeper into.
2. Invest time and effort
To become an expert you will need to devote time and energy to gaining knowledge and practicing the skills in your niche.
3. Unlearn what you have done before
This is a completely different way of working, with fewer clients, on a much deeper level and charging for your expertise and not your packages or sessions.
4. Find a mentor
When you have a mentor who has already achieved what you want to achieve and is successful in this. Someone who has the skills and knowledge and experience and who is invested in your success.
5. Learn and test yourself
Practicing your niche/expertise is crucial, it is also beneficial to test yourself to ensure you have retained any new information. If it’s your passion it won’t seem like a chore. You need to live up to your expertise!
6. Focus on your progression
Create a plan for your progress, and keep identifying the next step and the following next step. You can do this yourself or with a mentor who can keep you accountable.
There is obviously more to the process than following these steps. The mind shift of steering away from what, up until now, has been the norm. For instance charging properly for your expertise, working with fewer clients, and not hustling for clients to fill your schedule, basically working with fewer clients on a much deeper level using your niche.
