As a coach, regardless of your industry, you know you’ve got to share consistent content with your audience. But do you ever sit down to write a LinkedIn post or email, and your mind goes blank?

Old type writer with bond paper phrase, Write somethin

Maybe you don’t know where to start, or it feels like you’ve said it all before.

It’s just you staring at the blank page, feeling annoyed and frustrated because you know you gotta get something out…

This is your typical case of writer’s block or blank page syndrome.

Even famous writers like Stephen King experience this.

And I’ve got just the thing to unplug the creative pipes and get the words flowing on the page again.

When I create content, I like to share a combination of posts: ones that speak to my character and values, call out the common enemy (more on this below), share tips and lessons related to the industry, and highlight social proof.

Below I’ve gathered my favorite top 50+ writing prompts to help you go from “What the heck do I write?” to “I got this!” as you type a frenzy of words that draw eyes to your content.

50+ Content Writing Prompts

Character & Values

This category gives your audience a better understanding of who you are, what’s important to you, and what makes you different from every other coach. Sharing personal and sometimes vulnerable posts helps build the know, like, and trust factor with your audience.

  1. What gets you through challenging times?

  2. Who is your biggest role model?

  3. What was a defining moment in your life?

  4. Where does the conversation take you when you’re out to dinner with friends?

  5. What’s happening in pop culture or the news that you can comment on?

  6. Do you have a life calling?

  7. What are your longtime interests or passions?

  8. What are your top 3 non-negotiable values?

  9. What’s your all-time favorite quote?

  10. What’s the most recent thing you’ve learned about yourself?

  11. What’s your daily routine, and how does it impact you?

  12. Who is someone you admire?

  13. What’s an event you remember from childhood that shaped your career/life?

  14. What’s your definition of happiness?

Business Tip/Lesson

This is where you get to show off your expertise and nurture the relationship with your reader by giving them some of your best advice for free. This can be a lesson or tip related to what you help your clients with.

  1. What is the 1 business lesson you’ve learned?

  2. What’s one small step your audience can take to get closer to what they want?

  3. What is your process?

  4. How’d you get started in your career?

  5. What didn’t work for you?

  6. What are the top 10 lessons you’ve learned in your career?

  7. What trends are you seeing in your industry?

  8. What’s the biggest challenge you helped a client overcome?

  9. What do you love about your industry?

  10. What tough lesson did you learn recently?

Common enemy

This is one of my favorite categories. “Common enemy” refers to the typical strategies, advice, and tactics that your reader has likely heard (and tried) before that didn’t work. You call them out, explain why they don’t work, and offer a better solution.

  1. What irks you about your industry?

  2. What are some things everyone should avoid in your industry?

  3. What absolutely does not work in your industry?

  4. What is something your audience has tried that doesn’t work?

  5. What are your competitors promoting that you disagree with?

  6. What is something that’s gained popularity in your industry that you disagree with?

  7. What is everybody doing that you don’t understand/agree with?

  8. What is the 1 misbelief your ideal client has?

  9. What’s holding your ideal client back from achieving what they want?

  10. What myths about your industry/niche/service does your perfect client possess?

Social proof

You can have decades of experience and all the credentials in the world, but if you don’t share it with your audience, they won’t know. This is your opportunity to brag about your clients’ success while highlighting the massive results you help them achieve.

  1. Who is your all-time favorite client?

  2. What client had the biggest transformation?

  3. Which client had the most emotional story?

  4. Have you been featured anywhere – interview, podcast, guest blog, etc.?

  5. Who was your most challenging client?

  6. What results were you able to help them achieve?

  7. What skill or talent do your friends and colleagues come to you for?

  8. How did you get to where you are today?

  9. What would clients call your superpower?

  10. What are you the best at?
