Inside of this article, you will find 5 powerful and effective ways to reprogram your subconscious mind with beliefs that will help to eliminate the fear-filled narratives running through your mind on a daily basis and put you back in the power position of your life.

What is the subconscious mind and why does it matter?

Your subconscious mind is like a data bank holding the information of all your past memories and experiences since the moment you were born. When you experience trauma, receive feedback from others or are taught to act, think, believe or behave a certain way, this information is stored in your subconscious mind.

For many people, your past experiences don’t always align with the goals and desires you have for your future. And yet, even though you consciously know that you want your life to look different from the past, you often find yourself struggling with the same fears,

patterns and limiting beliefs as before.

This is because your subconscious mind is holding onto the information of your past and it is influencing your thoughts, feelings and behaviors every day.

Therefore, if you are wanting to see your life shift and creative positive results in your growth, you have to know how to reprogram the subconscious mind with new

information that will catapult you towards your goals.

5 Easy ways to reprogram your subconscious mind with new, empowering beliefs

1. Journaling

Whenever you are reprogramming your subconscious mind with a new belief, you want to be sure of two things:

  1. Your new beliefs should be formulated in the form of “I am” or “I have”. Example: I am wealthy. This wording programs the mind to believe that the goal or desire is already happening to you versus a statement such as “ I will” or “ I want” which implies it has not yet happened.

  2. Only phrase the belief in the affirmative form, not the negative. Example: Say “I have more than enough money” versus “I have no debt.” This is because the subconscious mind doesn’t always register the negation and therefore is only receiving the phrase “I have debt” which would only further amplify the undesired situation.

Once you have identified your “I am” statements in the affirmative that align with your unique goals and desires, spend 5-10 minutes on a daily basis writing them multiple times in your journal until you notice your thoughts and actions begin to shift in alignment with your desired belief.

2. Meditation

Meditation is a simple and yet effective way to access the deeper levels of the mind. When you meditate, your body begins to relax and your brain waves slow down to the frequency of which the subconscious and unconscious brain unlocks for you. While in this relaxed state, you can become aware of negative thoughts, beliefs and patterns that you may have previously been unaware of and are able to imprint new belief systems onto the subconscious brain.

In order to do this, set aside 15-20 minutes where you will be undisturbed. Find a quiet place where you can fully focus on yourself and your breathing.

Begin your meditation by placing your attention on the breath. Begin by intentionally slowing down the breath and expanding your inhales and exhales until you have reached your capacity for both.

Then, give yourself a few minutes to become aware of what is coming up in your mind. Once you have identified any unconscious thoughts, beliefs and patterns, begin shifting your focus towards your desires through visualization.

Imagine what it would look, feel, smell, sound and taste like to receive your specific goals and desires. Take yourself through a mental journey by creating images and scenarios that align with what you would like to experience in your life.

Example: If you desire to travel more, begin by imagining yourself booking the flight to your dream destination. See yourself pack your bags, go to the airport and arrive in this new place. Imagine what the hotel or home you are staying at would be like. Envision yourself touring the new place and experiencing different excursions, sites, restaurants and events.

Once you are done with the visualization process, it’s time to complete this practice with gratitude.

When you feel grateful for something, you are sending a signal to your subconscious mind that you already are, or have received, the thing you desire. Therefore, spending a few moments at the end of your meditation to feel grateful helps to amplify the new beliefs you created through the visualization process.

3. EFT tapping

EFT stands for “Emotional Freedom Technique.” This technique focuses on tapping the meridian points of the body to help release anxiety, overcome fear and reprogram your subconscious mind with new beliefs.

By tapping on these points, you are able to send signals to the part of the brain that controls stress and restore an overall state of balance and peace within the body.

The meridian points most commonly used are as follows:

  1. Top of the Head

  2. Over the Eyebrows

  3. Side of the Eyes / Temples

  4. Under the Eyes / Cheekbones

  5. Under the Nose

  6. Chin

  7. Chest and Collarbone

  8. Bottom of the Rib Cage

  9. Side of The Rib Cage

  10. Thumb

  11. Index Finger

  12. Middle Finger

  13. Bottom of the Ring Finger

  14. 1Pinky Finger

  15. Inside of the Palm

The first step of EFT Tapping is to identify the fear or negative emotion you are currently experiencing.

Example: I am feeling scared about this career change.

Then, you will begin tapping the meridian points as you say out loud how you are feeling followed by a statement of acceptance.

Example: Even though I am feeling scared about this career change, I love and accept myself.

As you begin to feel the negative emotion dissipate from your body, you can then begin to say phrases that align with how you desire to feel in the situation as you tap on the

meridian points.

Example: Even though I don’t know how this career change will turn out, I feel confident in my ability to succeed.

Keep tapping until you have reached your desired emotional state and repeat this practice as often as you may need.

4. Embodiment practices

One of the most powerful ways to influence the subconscious brain is through connecting with your body.

The feelings and emotions that you experience in your body directly impact your nervous system. Subsequently, the state of your nervous system influences which signals are sent to the brain and consequently impacts your thoughts.

The more you think something, the more you believe it. Therefore, intentionally guiding your body through different practices that help you to embody the feelings and emotions that feel good such as joy, pleasure, abundance, etc. will create a direct, positive impact on your belief system.

Some embodiment practices to try are dancing, yoga, breathwork and visualization. If you are new to the world of embodiment work, you could benefit from attending online or

in-person workshops created by experienced guides and facilitators that can lead you through these different practices.

5. Affirmations

Lastly, you can start a daily practice of listening to affirmations to reprogram your subconscious mind.

When you hear or experience something over and over again, it creates new neural pathways in the brain and solidifies this belief in your mind.

The best time to listen to affirmations is when your brain is in the Theta state as this is the state where the subconscious is most available to you. You can reach the theta state when you are deeply relaxed in meditation or when you are about to drift off into sleep.

If you’re not sure which affirmations to listen to, there are plenty of free ones available on YouTube for you to try. Don’t be afraid to try out different ones until you find some that feel most resonant to you and your goals.
