Have you ever wanted confidence on call? The kind that draws people to you and makes you stand taller? Some people manifest confidence without a thought, while others shrink away at the very idea because they believe it's out of their reach.
The truth? The ability to have a firm trust in one's self can be intimidating, if not a seemingly impossible task at times, but everyone can be confident because confidence is a choice. All you need to do is practice being confident, and over time, it will strengthen and grow until it's second nature. Here are three tips to create instant confidence you can start putting into practice today!
Tip 1: Adopting A New Certainty Mindset
Craving certainty is natural, but oftentimes people look for outside validation and permission to gain the certainty they seek instead of from within. Placing this type of control on your actions will greatly limit what you achieve, which is why you need to adopt a different mindset of certainty; life is happening for you and not to you.
Success comes from good judgment; good judgment comes from experience; experience is typically the result of bad judgment.
You'll make mistakes along the way no matter what journey you take, but with a mindset that life is happening for you and not to you, the bumps you encounter along the way won't keep you down. Instead, those bumps will be opportunities to grow, learn, and build more certainty and confidence within yourself.
Tip 2: Choosing Your Heart
There's a big difference in the decisions you make based on whether you follow your head or your heart. Think of your head as a survivalist. It wants to keep you protected at all costs. It wants you to avoid pain whenever possible. This kind of guidance has kept humans alive for tens of thousands of years but won't provide you with the confidence you seek. Why? Because, unconsciously or not, the head guides from a place rooted in fear. Fear that failure will damage you beyond repair and that the mistakes you make cannot possibly be learned from.
This is why when faced with matters of confidence, you must act from your heart. To do this you need only ask yourself, "How would the highest version of myself act? What would they do?" The answer you find will instantly pull you from your head to your heart and is the one you must act on.
Tip 3: Live In The Past
Reflecting and reliving the moments when you've been confident before is a powerful tool to create instant confidence in the present.
Close your eyes and go back to a memory where you've felt confident. Immerse yourself in the memory. Recall the way your heartbeat as you overcome the fear to act. Breathe as you did in that moment. See and feel what you did at that moment. The key is to return your body to the physiological state it was in your previous moment of confidence. Once you do, you can tap into this renewed confidence and use it whenever and however you choose.
Test out these tips and start putting them into regular practice today. You'll be surprised at the impact they have and how easy growing your confidence will be with them in your back pocket.
