Personally, I have been a gym owner as well as have worked for other gyms since the beginning of my career which began at the age of 16. Many times, I was asked if I was a body builder because of my physique as well as my genetic make-up and Soma Type – The Mesomorph.

Unfortunately, few are gifted with great genes, the Mesomorph body type makes exceptional athletes. Mesomorphs are naturally muscular and have a high metabolism.

I had a client schedule an appointment for a consultation, much to her dismay, she was leaving her present Personal Trainer after finding out the trainer was on Anabolic Steroids. A subject which did not surprise me, as it is a common issue and problem in the industry.

Did you know?

The Global Androgens and Anabolic Steroids Market size is valued at USD 52.63 Billion in 2022 and is projected to be USD 124.18 Billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 10.4% from 2023 to 2030” Cognitive Market Research

It is disappointing for consumers who put all their trust in this industry, more disappointing when a Personal Trainer is on a substance banned by most, if not all, athletic committees worldwide. Consumers rely on our industry to guide them to optimal health and wellness without the use of steroids, in the case mentioned above with the client, the trainer had “pitched” to her to “try” anabolic steroids to get the best results. The “pitch” was her red flag to cease visiting the Personal Trainer. Consumers lack the awareness of the symptoms and signs which come from the use of Anabolic Steroid.

Ten signs that your Personal Trainer is on Steroids

  1. Change in voice

  2. Displays aggression while training a client

  3. Change in facial features, primarily the jawline and cheekbones

  4. Rapid change in muscle development

  5. Acne

  6. Irritable, mood swings

  7. In Women, breasts change (become smaller)

  8. In Men, breasts develop

  9. In Women, over developed Latissimus Dorsi

  10. Your trainer suggests the use of Anabolic Steroids
