Dr. Zyer Beaty is a therapist, counselor educator, and advocate for intentional wellness. She is the founder of Dr. Z Therapy and Coaching, a private practice focused on holistic wellness and psychoeducation. Drawing from her extensive background as a professor and former school counselor, Zyer’s innovative work is enriched by her research in global education and mental health. She specializes in assisting young adults, graduate students, college students, adults, and couples in navigating challenges such as ADHD, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and life transitions. Her mission is to help individuals live a fulfilling, unapologetic life.
Zyer actively researches the educational experiences of Black women and mental health across the world. An advocate for international travel and overall wellness, she believes that diverse cultural experiences enrich mental health and personal growth. Her journey began at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa, where she developed a deep commitment to education and global well-being. A Spelman Alumna and The University of Georgia "Double Dawg", Dr. Zyer brings a wealth of academic excellence and knowledge to her practice.

Zyer’s approach blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and solution-focused therapy within a Narrative Framework, emphasizing the personal stories of her clients. Furthermore, Zyer is a contributing author to the textbook, "A School Counselor's Guide to Small Groups", and "Integrating Intersectionality When Working With Trans Older Adults".
