Dr. Yarlie Ruth Nicolas
Sports Family Therapist
Dr. Yarlie R. Nicolas, LMFT, is a trailblazing mental health professional known for her passion, creativity, and innovative approach. Dr. Nicolas is a renowned “Sports Family Therapist” with over a decade of expertise in clinical therapy and a licensed marriage and family therapist. Hailing from Boston, MA, and of Haitian American descent, Dr. Yarlie is the founder of Home Field Consulting, LLC, where she focuses on enhancing the mental health and performance of athletes and their families. Her roles as Assistant Athletic Director for Mental Health Services at Baylor University and Mental Health Provider for the NBA highlight her expertise in stress management, self-care, and human performance.
Dr. Yarlie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Florida Atlantic University, a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, and a Ph.D. in Marriage & Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University. Her career is marked by a unique combination of clinical practice and sports marketing experience, including her work with NBA and NFL players, which inspired her research on the impact of Black families on athletic success. As a dynamic speaker, consultant, and adjunct professor, she is dedicated to transforming the narrative of Black males and families, emphasizing that “the family is the first home team.” Dr. Yarlie is committed to helping leaders, athletes, and ministers rediscover their authentic selves and thrive both personally and professionally.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Dr. Yarlie is deeply rooted in her Christian faith and enjoys serving her community. She also loves HGTV, traveling, reading, and cherishing time with family and friends.
